So many beautiful creative things , that’s England , history ,people, world … thanks to make me learn a little more about this country . “ 5 stars video 👏👏👏
@@ExplorewithSarahlouise Sorry to be pedantic but thats not what you said on the video. Whilst we're on the subject of Twickenham and the surrounding areas. Do you know about the Shot tower? It's in the River Crane conservation area. and it's an incredibly interesting structure.Built around the time of the Napoleonic wars, It looks like a big light house. So what was its purpose I hear you ask? Well, it was used to make Lead shot, the stuff that was loaded into soldiers rifles to shoot at the enemy. The way it worked was that the workers would carry a huge ladle of molten lead up a spiral staircase around the inner wall of the tower (the tower was empty in the middle)to the top of the tower. They would then pour the lead into a sieve and the molten lead would go through the holes forming little 'blobs' of lead. As the blobs fell downwards they would cool and become spherical . They then landed in a huge bath of cold water and, hey presto, perfect lead shot. The tower is open to the public on Sundays. And it's next to Crane Park Island (a remnant of the former Hounslow Gunpowder Mills) which can also be visited by footbridge.. It's ever so pretty. and not well known at all. Here is a link to the Crane Valley.Org website that has more information. As I said, well worth a visit. www.cranevalley.org.uk/visit/
@@33rorynoah it’s funny as was just having this conversation with someone as one of my friends is a little on the Asperger’s spectrum and takes everything very literally and I defo am on the adhd and throw out quite loose comments. I was only talking today about this. I guess I meant it is old fashioned in style but I am not always the best at using the correct language I am aware of that.
@@33rorynoah that is super interesting Thankyou for sharing that with me! Another island I had or heard of as well. There are so many in the Uk I’ve recently been finding out. I must add that to my list
