  • A little while back, I made a video on glazing river rocks. A viewer suggested in the comments that making mushrooms with rocks would be fun. It sounded like fun to me too.
    I hope you enjoy.

Not gonna lie, when you opened the kiln and I saw what you saw, my heart stopped for a second. Well done saving the kiln. You must live a charmed life.
Thanks for doing the things I think about, but I'm too afraid to try. So much fun to watch.

You made a knife blade and yes it really looked like obsidian. I think the black rock will trick meteorite shoppers. Lol. Love the experiments. Do more. Sell me a mushroom. So cute.

That is an awesome melted rock. Polish the white off of it and hang it from your mantle, or window sill.

I was thinking the same. A big blob of melted rock hanging from a book shelf.

LOve your stuff would be nice if you could give some info on the temperature you used and even better if you would test common stones like marble granite ... that would be awesome glazed marble crazy man

Great experiment Justin. I'd really like to know the firing temperature 🤔

Cool, I like the melted rock, you could make that mushroom upside down in a bisque bowl coated with batt wash, like slumping in glass work. I like the heart attack moments in your videos with the kiln brick and shelves, it seems more precarious=interesting, in pottery sometimes.

Wow that turned out amazing! I cant believe you got away almost scot free on the one that melted. It would be very similar to obsidian so you could try glass casting techniques. Could try to make that obsidian dagger 'How its made' has been trying to pull of for ages. This was the first time one of my comments has been used to I was rather giddy to see the video, thanks for posting!

Wow. I LOVE that huge drip of rock. A pity a piece of it got broken. Would look so funny hanging (secured) on a shelf.
In your last video I noticed the very neat slab test tiles. If you would want to make a video about how you make them, that would be very interesting.

All of these are really great, the black stone one was even interesting. Wonder what the stones would look like if you cut them?
Also I can't wait for more melted rock experiments! If you're going to keep doing it though, I'd suggest you invest in a kiln shelf or two from Advancer. John the potter just talked about them, apparently nothing sticks to them.
