  • In Colts Neck, New Jersey, one night there were two fires. Both, interestingly, at two brother's houses, Paul and Keith Caneiro. They had been in business together for a long time, but going through the rubble led to extremely suspicious behaviour, and a despicable crime.

When you said the kids were stabbed and was still alive when the fire was started. I can’t imagine how terrifying the last hour of their life was. How could anyone do this to a child. Killing kids is just a different offense. The worst of anything.

This is a great example of why you shouldn’t judge too much based on 911 calls, because this guy sounded awkward as hell.
He just seemed very disconnected from it all. “It’s a body. It’s dead. It’s a corpse.” Obviously, there’s a thousand reasons he may have had that reaction, because he clearly had nothing to do with it. But it’s such a weird reaction to finding a dead body that he’s lucky suspicion never fell on him for any other reason.

Thanks for coming to Jersey, Mike! Fun fact: Some people, myself included, will argue that Colts Neck is actually North Jersey and not Central Jersey. We're pretty weird here in the Garden State and go by what network you watch, your favorite convenience store (Wawa or QuickChek), and sports teams you follow rather than the geographic location of the town. Mercer, Hunterdon, and parts of Monmouth and Ocean counties are considered Central, but even that's debatable. It's a cultural thing. I don't make the rules.
