I have 4 children, 3 are daughters. When they’re first born, you worry about things like SIDS, abductions, or illness. As teens, you worry about them driving and making bad decisions. Then they hit 18. They’ve survived, you survived, and you think “I can breath now. We’ve made it.”

Fair enough, but a comment like "I just got home for lunch" makes it sound like she's trying to establish an unsolicited timeline to ensure everyone knows she "wasn't there" because, after all, she "just got home for lunch". I swear I JUST got here!!!! With all the information emergency operators really need straight away, informing them of your itinerary is something you can pocket until the detectives arrive.
That said, obviously you're right!, and it's horrible to hear that call through the lens of knowing the outcome. I'm clearly more cynical than you are lol, and as a mother you can feel that pain in a special way. I'm a father so I can imagine it, too, but I believe moms have a special connection resulting from growing and carrying the kid around for 9 months and then feeding it, plus the cerebral connection hardwired into the brain during the first few years of life by all of the physical contact they share with the baby (even if the mom hates the kid, kills it, rapes it, whatevers it; there is a deeper, visceral, primal connection there...imo, of course). Most serial killers emphasize the importance of that bond due to the fact many of them didn't get that contact in the first 3-5 years of their lives.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for sharing Jessie's story! I was almost freaked out when I saw you had posted this, as I JUST attend Love>Hate's Annual 5k about two weeks ago. I can't believe the coincidence.
Buck and Joy were both there and were humbling to be around. They would offer genuine appreciation to everyone who attended and encouraged other victims of violence to share their stories if they wished to. They emphasized how much joy Jessie spread and how they try to do the same now. I brought some of my teen boys to volunteer and Buck came to speak with them about the importance of accountability between young men and how each person has the potential to help instead of hurt one another. After seeing this video tell their story in more detail, it's all the more touching. What wonderful people to continue spreading peace after experiencing such horror. Thank you, Mike!! You continue to be a treat!

The woman who would fought off the dude attacking with a knife- what a badass. Grabbed it by the blade and everything. That's what I hope my daughters grow up to be like because I'm not gonna be able to protect them forever.

We can certainly try! My little girl is only 3, but in mind I will protect her forever. And yes, that woman was a badass!

Most of all, lets hope the mothers of sons will teach their boys to be good people who respect women. I'm not a mother, but I would imagine that it's part of being a parent to be worried about your daughters everyday. Its sad. So many sickos out there.. :/

PEOPLE, ENROLL YOUR GIRLS IN MATIAL ARTS TRANING at the youngest age the local dojo (or whatever flavor of m.a. you're choosing calls their school) will take them. Two young female friends of mine have that training, & it's protected them more than once. They exercise all the regular cautions that every young woman does, they don't advertise or show off their skills, but when they have no other options they can and have protected themselves and others. I only wish there had been options like that when I was a kid.

Trick statement by the Defense to the jury: State didn't prove INTENT.
They don't have to and he knows that.
