I listened to Shukow playing Scriabin live twice in Bavaria about 40 years ago, after the performance we used to sit together in a restaurant and talk about his love to Scriabin - in English - he was a very hard smoker, a nervous, very sensitive man - we loved his playing and his interpretation of Scriabin - experiences never to be forgotten!
@@atsukok2313 I am sorry to tell you that I learned some time ago that he died in 2018 - I admired him much - he was, as far as I can say, the best interpretor of Scriabin's compositions. Have a look here: de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Igor_Michailowitsch_Schukow
@@LadyArt123 I really wish I had known him earlier as I was in Moscow 17 years ago. It must have been wonderful to see him playing Scriabin in a concert hall. Thank you so much for replying to my message and for sharing your experience with us.
He was very good friend of mine. I had a possibility to meet him in Moscow a year before he left, and his wife Natasha. Polonaise is fantastic as all Scriabin s ouvre under his fingers
It really makes a difference how the performer plays those piece to whether or not you like it. Often if the interpretation isn't convincing you can think you don't like the piece! Certainly not the case with this recording
Listen to the end of Chopin's Polonaise op 44. Then listen to the end of this. Scriabin must have used that piece as his "model" so to speak. Structurally they are both very similar as well!
@mandynme1 O well you need to listen to the performance of this piece by Michael Ponti (Vox CD 5X 3606) - he plays the entire piano output very well indeed.

If you don't mind, could you please tell us more about this pianist? I'd like to know where he is now.

I love Scriabin.
This is verfy interesting! The polonaise style mixed with Scriabin style...never imagined it. Masterful playing also of course.
Amazing performance!
👏👏👏Möhtəşəm ifa👏👏👏

I agree. I've played Chopin's op. 44 and am going to play this piece. The personality is very similar between the two pieces.
