Christian here, and aspiring accountant (maybe). I absolutely love the content and the fact that you both show me a good idea of what the life is like, but you also talk about your faith and what you're reading in the Bible! Awesome to see, and you've gained a new subscriber!

Excellent video, Kat!! I used to work in public accounting, so it's interesting to see what other people's busy seasons are like. I don't miss the hours, but I do miss fun engagement teams and connecting with clients. If you're in your 1st year as an auditor, then I'm sure you will have lots of fun with your SURL testing and confirmation (among other things, of course). Good luck to you!!

I'm so surprised how well you manage your time during peak season. Compared to myself, I would prefer to sleep if I had more time during the year-end period.
    You're so inspiring. Love it!

Im glad I avoided busy season by going into state and local government audit instead of industry. GASB is a bit tough with all the different funds and having different materiality thresholds for each fund but we only work like 40-50 hours per week all year instead of the long hours others have to put in.

As a senior professional in big four, this is so good to see! Looking at the comments, there are so many of you interested in accounting…Come onboard!! Also seeing you hold fast to your faith is just encouraging. May God strengthen you and bless you with knowledge, wisdom and understanding to do the work you have been given.

I really enjoyed this video! I am about to finish my 2nd internship with my firm (1 audit, 1 tax) and start full-time after graduating this spring. What's some advice you would give to a first year staff accountant?

her workday starts at 9:00 - thank you! I'm recently getting into the field myself, really useful to know what tasks actually goes into 'auditing'

Man, I thought you meant her work day started at 9am, not the 9 minute mark. This was more of a Get Ready With Me video. Haha. Not knocking it, I'm sure there is only so much that can be recorded during a workday at a Big4, but the title definitely seems a little misleading.

yeah , it is very thankyou for recording your life as an accountant btw if your content conclude more about your work or add more description about the task then it will be very helpful ,

    My busy season is like:
    8:30am getup
    9:30am work
    11pm finish work
    11:30pm arrive home
    1am sleep and repeat
Now I'm jealous of your work hours.

Hi Katrina! Wanna know your thoughts since you experienced both tech risk consulting and assurance. Whats more interesting, difficult, challenging for you.. etc..

    • @KatrinaKwong
      @KatrinaKwong  ปีที่แล้ว +2

Hey! I find assurance way more interesting because I personally don’t find IT systems very fascinating. I like learning about how businesses operate rather than IT systems. The things we audit are also different. In assurance, you are auditing financial statement numbers (eg. revenue, expense testing) and in tech risk you might be auditing things like user access control (eg. Testing if passwords work etc etc). Both are very stable and needed fields but I think in assurance you will get to learn more about different businesses (eg. How companies generate revenue) but you may not get that same learning experience in tech risk because IT systems and the ways they get tested don’t vary too too much from company to company (eg how many ways can you set up password configurations?…not many)

Hi Katrina! I was looking up Toronto accountants on TH-cam and ran into your channel. Shot in the dark but I was wondering, do you or anyone you know offer tax filing services?
I have a TH-cam channel myself and this is my first year of making pretty decent income and I'm looking for help in how to tackle the tax side of things. From your content it looks like you're super busy so I understand if you can't help but if you have any helpful resources or referrals I would so greatly appreciate it. Keep up the great work on your channel!
