Great video, the reaction made made my hairs stand, video could of been longer with reactions but excellent overall. My understanding is that no one in HS has run under 10 ( wind or no wind) or has been captured on video, so if that's true the people present have witnessed something truly unique, special and historical. I saw the video on the news, this one was 100x better ( reactions visible and verbal)! Thx!
Boling was 18yrs old, and he easily out ran the other seven guys -- all of whom were school and regional Texas champions. The second place finisher was 0.3 sec (approx 11ft) behind. Everyone in that race got the same wind advantage, and they all knew that Boling would have beaten them just as easily with or without the wind. Interestingly note that everyone in the stadium -- spectators and competitors from other events -- stopped to focus on that race. They all knew something significant was gonna take place. A generation from now many of them will tell their grandchildren about the day they witnessed a phenomenal white boy beating the best of Texas sprinters in a world record time. Yeah buddy -- history was made that day
@@xelp435Yeah, I figured. Matthew Boling is just about the exception, equatorial genetics rule when it comes to sports (not that other ethnicities can't compete but they dominate most sports).
@@zoro-i8u I mean there are many other exceptions but in a sport where it’s dominated by pure talent like running and jumping African genes are best suited. In a sport where more skill is required like potentially soccer and football we see a greater variety. But there are also exceptions within track itself. Like the throwing events, or the 400m hurdles.
Thanks for posting this angle. All the other videos are from the other side. What an achievement for Boling, and it's great to get the whole perspective on the race.
This is an amazing time for a high school kid. Athletics or track and field is still big in the UK. He would be on the news. An amazing athlete, well done. It is sad what has happened to athletics in the US. Perhaps run the mile along with the 1500 metres internationally would help.
@@captainamericaamerica8090 I know that the race was actually 10.16 with no wind and 10.07 with 2.0 m/s wind so still 0.08 slower even with 2.0 m/s wind but I get what your saying
They all had the same wind assist.... But fairly all times have to be compared. On that day he beat them all with the same wind. So record times have to be adjusted as usual.
The wind theory is a myth if it's at your back and you're running faster than the wind. It only affects the race if it's higher than the running speed of the runner or if it's hitting the runner from the front or a front side angle at any speed.
What..?!? Lol... sorry mate but "wind theory" is absolutely NOT a myth. It's science. If you don't understand how a strong wind reading aids in times, then you're likely a Newbie to the sport. Look it up, it's pretty fascinating actually. But Matt just ran a Legal sub 10 today... so he always had it in him just needed coaching and time to develop into his peak form. He has a low 9.9 in him I'm sure and maybe even 9.8's if he gets everything right.
To my understanding, this race was not wind legal.
It's a H.S. record for all weather conditions. It was a 4.2 wind aided. Still amazing!
Might be wind aided, but you still actually have to run that fast.
Wind aided I can run a 17.2 100
The US flag at the end of race tells it all...wind aided...still impressive though with a bad start!
I'm 72. Wind tends to push me over.
Imagine the feeling after listening and seeing all the kids from the other schools shocked

faust ace Trayvon Bromell did it. Look it up he went 9.99 so biking is still faster. Now bromell is a college graduated 9.80 kinda guy

Hoyt Sigman 9.99 was Trayvon’s fastest time in high school with a +4.0 m/s tailwind. At that time he had the all conditions record as well.
I had the exact same reaction my god!!

If only that was how it worked. Even if you are going faster than the wind you will still have less resistance since it's moving in the same direction
