Anyone watching this, that is where I was, trying to understand intervallic theory, what the 1, 4, 5 chords even are? And what notes to play over and through a progression? Start at the beginning of Guthrie's videos a few months ago, maybe March, and watch up to this point. I promise, you'll get more out of it than most lessons you pay for online! A huge testimony to how good Guthrie's Artistworks and private lessons must be. I'm Saving for them. He just has a superbly intelligible way of helping you understand this stuff. Watching your old videos is a pleasure Guthrie. I’ll be honest I only discovered you a few weeks ago vi Brett Papa’s channel and mate your playing is beautiful, and wonderfully inspiring when applied with your framework. The arpeggios have transformed my noodling so dramatically my completely tone-deaf girlfriend commented on the licks… hoping some real fans might do the same sometime but for the moment you’ve made me very happy and given my playing more structure. My favourite player growing up was always Knopfler too, and I hear his sound so much when you’re given free reign to just play. But you’ve made everything I’ve heard you do sound entirely your own as well. Thanks for all your work bro. When I next get a bump in pay, I’m hitting you up for some lessons. Take care.

I'm starting to see how triads and arpeggios within a key is really the bread and butter, so to speak of melody and harmony as applied to a chord progression or whatever backing is going on. Thanks again my friend.

Hi Guthrie. Awesome lesson man. I got a looper plugin for TH-cam and am using it to really breakdown what you're doing, specifically the stuff from 13:12 to about 14:30. Helps reinforce the licks and the timing. Timing is what I struggle with the most, keeping track of when the chord changes. Just wanted you to know you've had a major impact on one guys journey. This really does help to explain why certain notes sounded better than others over the changes in the blues. I always struggled with that and really relied on lots of trial and error to find things that sounded good.

Great little leason, I have just started watching you since you been putting out lessons a couple of weeks back. Man I like them. Don't listen to the people saying you talk to much. Those are guys that want u to call out every string and fret. They not willing to put in some effort to learn. Great lesson, excuse while I go watch it again!

The people who think you are too wordy either already know this stuff or haven’t learned enough to understand what you are saying. Either move on or hang in there, respectively. “Content is king”
Ive noticed, on multiple good lessons, there are people complaining about being wordy. It's because they're not here to learn, or they'd be asking for more explanation. They're just trying to hear some awesome shred or chuggs. Lol. Yeah, they're just trying to hear impressive playing, they're not even paying attention to what's being said, or they'd realize it's an instructional video. People are ignorant. They don't realize what golden info is here in this video. Cheers
I learned so much in the first couple of minutes of this. I’m going to take your course. All I ever learned on guitar was minor pentatonic scales and the relative major, and E A shape barre chords. All the rest just played by feel and teen spirit 😂 Look forward to learning more.

Although I have a teacher, each of your videos allows me to improve my playing and see how your brain works. It seems that playing guitar is a big part of training this brain. Another awesome lesson Guthrie. I thought I'd add one thing that has helped me a lot lately. I've been working on my phrasing and while playing lines, I say the interval as I play it. It has helped me become aware of where the key tones live on the fretboard and to focus on beginning and ending in places that make sense. Thanks for putting so much out there into the world!
Thanks, Guthrie. These are the concepts that excite me about playing the blues... mixing the chord tones with the minor pentatonic brings it all to life and seems like somewhat of a requirement to making the changes. The moves I need to work on most are from the 4 to the 5 chord and from the 5 to the 1 chord. Need to learn more turnarounds as well. Lots to learn! Good thing it’s so much fun and it sounds so righteous when something clicks. Looking forward to all the upcoming lessons.

Catching up after a little road trip but once again, great lesson! As before, lots of things I sorta knew clicking in much clearer and cooler ways (especially mixing those major and 7 triads and walking into and out the different chords). Can't wait to get caught up!
Hi Guthrie... thanks for the fantastic reviews over how you see the dom. I can see some dom pentatonics over both the D9, D7 triad. I use dom pentatonics over the D7 (1,2,3,5,b7) to get the same sounds... it all made sense to me sir. Feel better

Love all your videos, you really inspire me and help to understand my fretboard. I watch each and take hours to practice. Although I have a teacher, each of your videos allows me to improve my playing and see how your brain works. It seems that playing guitar is a big part of training this brain. Work,work,work and at the end emotion will come.

Another awesome lesson Guthrie. I thought I'd add one thing that has helped me a lot lately. I've been working on my phrasing and while playing lines, I say the interval as I play it. It has helped me become aware of where the key tones live on the fretboard and to focus on beginning and ending in places that make sense. Thanks for putting so much out there into the world!

Thanks, Guthrie. These are the concepts that excite me about playing the blues... mixing the chord tones with the minor pentatonic brings it all to life and seems like somewhat of a requirement to making the changes. The moves I need to work on most are from the 4 to the 5 chord and from the 5 to the 1 chord. Need to learn more turnarounds as well. Lots to learn! Good thing it’s so much fun and it sounds so righteous when something clicks. Looking forward to all the upcoming lessons.

I can see some dom pentatonics over both the D9, D7 triad. I use dom pentatonics over the D7 (1,2,3,5,b7) to get the same sounds... it all made sense to me sir. Feel better
