    This is not a hoax. I used to work for an ENT and I had them show me the inside of my ear and all the wax build up. I seen the inside of my canal on the monitor. Both of my ears were impacted with cerebrum. I went home used my ear candles and the next day had the ENT show me again. They were cleared out. Ear candles do work.

    I used to work in an aluminum boat factory for 8 years where ear plugs were a must... 4 years after i quit working there a friend of mine introduced me to ear candles. The results to me were shocking.! The wax was packed full of Aluminum shavings. So, yeah it works

    The DIFFERENCE also is the one OUTSIDE the ear had air ventilation shooting up from the bottom which also caused it to burn faster. A TRUE test would be to PLUG the outside ear one and then compare again. The inside ear one is not ear wax, just more of the candle wax due to non vented.

    Seems to me that it is possible that once the candle burns down to a certain point, it would actually start burning off any build up. The fact that they weren't burned to roughly the same size could possibly skew the results in a way that you wouldn't realize.

    The one outside the ear shouldn't have had ANY dark ear wax like substance at all, just smoke residue. I think your experiment proved that ear candling is a hoax. I don't know why the one in the ear produced more of the dark ear wax looking substance than the outside one, but to guess, I'd say it was due to more heat build up from having the end obstructed with less air flow.

    • @carolinekramer2488
      @carolinekramer2488 8 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      It produced more wax because it was longer than the one that wasn't in the ear. If the one that wasn't in the ear had been cut at the same length as the one in the ear, it would have, no doubt, yielded the same amount of wax. So, no they don't work.

    • @scritsz
      @scritsz  8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Your observation is wrong. Both candles started new...exact same length. The reason that the one in the ear was shorter is it had an air flow because the end wasn't covered. What happens to a fire when you blow more air on it? It burns faster. As a result, I made another video outside of the ear with the end covered. Here it is: th-cam.com/video/wdMBiJxn_G0/w-d-xo.html

    • @carolinekramer2488
      @carolinekramer2488 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Look at the two at about 7:50 or so. One is shorter than the other. The video doesn't lie. If they had been burnt to the same length, the shorter one would have had as much wax residue as the longer one.
      You aren't hearing what I am telling you. It's not your fault, so don't take it personally, but what I'm saying is true. What I'm saying could be proven if you used a long piece to hold the two, and then let them burn to the same length, and then open them at the same length, and you will see that they both have equal amounts of wax residue.

  • @eakeak354
    @eakeak354 6 ปีที่แล้ว +14

    Simple ! When something burns it needs air (oxygen) and it takes it from all possible sides or inlets. The oneear candle kept outside the ear took air from the bottom as well - hence burned faster and had better combustion without much melting of wax (most of the wax burned.
    Now the one inserted in to the ear could not take air from the bottom inlet, so outside burned and as combustion inside the shell was not complete, wax melted, got mixed along with a bit of carbon particles and flowed inwards (the draft of the funnel helped it slowdown and solidify without going in to the ears - thank God it did ! )
    Yes, you will feel suction - as warm air moves upwards, a partial vacuum will be created at the air tight side. But I don't think it will be enough to draw ear wax through a funnel from pits ! (especially in a solid form or to warm up ears to melt the wax and pull it up) - if I am right, if the suction is that powerful (to pull up solid wax or to melt and make wax flow upwards), then it should cause bleeding of blood vessels in ears first even before that vacuum can pull earwax up !

    As a young adult I worked in a bookstore at a school of massage that sold these. I was very skeptical and since I didn't have to pay for them I would burn them without placing them in any ear and just let them burn down by themselves and when you open them up just like in this video, you end up with the same exact thing, wax. But the wax wasn't drawn out from an ear but came from the wax coated stick itself.

    Because a similar substance is in both candles, it seems likely that the material did not come from the ear, but from the burning of the candles. The candle that was not in an ear would be able to draw more air from the bottom, explaining why it burned faster, possibly hotter, and would retain less waste from burning.

    Use the NON waxed candles. I've used them for years & they DO indeed work... IF you have wax or yeast build up in your ears. It helps to soften the wax with warm olive oil a day or two before to soften wax that may be hardened.

      Nah… they don’t man…

    • @BMarie774
      @BMarie774 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also, while effective olive oil is a bit more viscous and if there’s any perforations in the ear drum it can be dangerous. Peroxide is the most effective, however, there can also be risk if there’s ear drum perforations present so… but ear candles literally don’t work. The stuff inside them that you think is ear wax..isn’t.

  • @Rotaermel
    @Rotaermel 8 ปีที่แล้ว +131

    Actually, you can measure the vacuum/depression which such a candle creates - and this is by far not enough to extract any earwax. A depression strong enough to suck out earwax would be so strong that it would actually perforate your eardrum.
    The "proof" of showing the inside of the burnt down candle is ridicolous - the little peaces of "earwax" are simply.. wax. Wax from the candle, and nothing else. I'll tell you something: Measure what you got out. If you extracted, let's say, 10 grammes of earwax, than pick 10 grammes of a fine grained substance (dust, sand, whatever) and put it into a small pipe. Then stick an earcandle onto this pipe. If your theory is right, the candle should be able to suck up the substance out of the pipe. I'll tell you, it won't.

      do you even know what your talking about.
      ear candles are lit for a reason, the fire and smoke in the cone helps soften up the wax in your ears, so if the cone has enough vacuum from the candle it will extract some of the softened ear wax.
      The more you know, lmao

      @brycejarrells16 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Shoobox Gaming I know what your thinking and you would be right if it wasn't that the fire was on the outside of the candle. If it was inside the candle then it would cause suction from the ear to the candle, however it is on the outside, which would cause no suction IN the ear. ( I got bored and looked it up, then did tests)

    Ear candling isn't an effective way to remove earwax. Studies haven't found any proof that the heat from the candle causes suction that pulls earwax out of your ear. Some people use ear candling for other reasons such as to relieve sinus pain, ringing in the ear (tinnitus), or vertigo

    • @NOTPC79
      @NOTPC79 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@potapataka most likely the candle in the ear is retaining the heat a little more and it is melting more of the wax and creating false hope. The one that is not in the ear has an outlet for the heat to escape. So it is not melting the wax as much as the one in the ear.

    ear candling encourages the ear to expel the wax in the normal way, and does not suck out wax if you look there is usually a filter in the candle so the wax in the candle could not have come from the ear, it is the slight warming and suction affect and the following lymphatic drainage massage that encourages the bodies natural ability to eliminate ear wax gently and effectively

    I have used these and had them used on me , actually used on ear infections.
    You can test all you want because I know it works !!! Hunters around here go get it done before season so they can hear better , one girls mom that was getting constant ear infections asked me to try it on her she was about 12 years old ! when the candle got about 1/2 way down there was something started coming out of her ear that was making the flame larger & smoking with an odor there was so much came out of her ear the candle got completely blocked and went out ! she is in her mid 20s now and never had another ear problem ! You can feel the warmth from the candle penetrating deep in the ear like a fever would do that is what breaks up the infection mucus ect under the ear drum and it comes tru the eardrum and burns off like a gas , I dont know how it does but it works !

      I just did several candles in both ears as I had a really bad earache. It immediately got rid of the pressure and pain in the ear that hurt and cleared both of my sinuses.
      I have noticed that if I candle on the right ear, the right sinus clears and if on the left, the left sinus clears. I have also done a similar experiment as this and a ton more wax always comes out of the candle that was in the ear. I believe it works mostly because it makes my ear release pressure/feel better after it is done. You can overdo it though, so you have to be careful with that. I think 3 times max in one ear in a day if you have a lot of pressure/wax/stuffed up sinuses.

    Hello all I first must say until today I loved ear candling... I got burned:( Any way that made me want to look in to this a bit more, I did not video it, I should have I know but I am out of candles now so I will tell you my findings. First I did both of my ears with the help of my wonderful daughter...we cut them open and did the ewww! thing well one of my ears was still clogged feeling so I had her do that one again(that's when the wax burned me), so I thought I would look up why you should not to do this and it said you can get burned bla bla bla... oh and it does not work. As I said I loved it before today it always hit the spot and was relaxing and it felt better when I was done. So now I wanna know does this work or what so I set out on my mission to find out the truth first I just burned a candle I got about the same results as these guys. Next I burned a candle in a jar like the experts show in their videos, guess what I got the same thing. I could see the melted wax from the candle but it did not look like what came out of my ear at all, so I took my finger nail and ran down the wax and noticed a slight orange tint. Interested now I took the ear wax from the one that was in my ear and boy oh boy do they feel the same. I am still not satisfied I really want these to work so I put on my thinking cap, what am I missing???? I pick up my bottle of water and it hits me...moisture! So I took and put a small amount of water in a bottle and found clear straw , to simulate the ear opening and did another candle test. I found out my Zephyer Hills bottled water is full of ear wax and after cutting the straw open it did leave a lot of wax behind which in reality goes in your ear causing more blockage. I went and got my trusty peroxide and bubbled my ears to remove the wax from the candle. I have lived my whole life with ear problems, I have had tubes several times, some days the ringing makes me crazy, and the ear aches suck but the worst is not being able to here my kids when they are talking to me and having to have them repeat them selfs over and over before getting what they say. Knowing this and after doing my own testing I am not willing to risk candling again. I also plan to get a referal to a ENT about my poor little ears being clogged/blocked up all the time. I hope this helps and feel free to test it for yourself.

    Do you understand what has happened here?
    Because the one in the ear was closed off, all the crap from the candle got stuck inside the candle.
    The candle wax is actually a thick smoky wax substance that flows through the tube and out the end. On the one in his ear that substance had nowhere to go and got clogged up in the end.
    On the one "outside" most of it was able to flow out the end but some it if got stuck on the side's!
    Do the test again but this time block the one outside the ear with blue tac on the side that is meant to go in the ear.
    You will then see that they will have the same amount of "candle wax".
    Also, the ear cant hold that much wax! Again, please, do some research.

    Counter argument: the candle that burned down more which was outside the ear simply had the yellow looking wax burn up. The candle that was in the ear didn't burn as far, and this more melted wax collected. You should burn them to the same length to get a conclusive answer.

    Another possibility to clear up any doubt would be have the remains from the candle tested to see if the wax is in fact ear wax from that person. I am assuming candle wax and ear wax have a different composition. Just a thought. We don't need a hypothesis on how it supposedly works or doesn't work. Acupuncturists have been doing this for 1000s of years. The proof is in the ear wax.

    Now, I'm going to get serious about this. Ear Candeling is very, very dangerous. I took every precaution when I tried this. I was lying on the kitchen floor like the young guy in this video is lying on the couch (Imagine lying on a fabric surface with a paper plate between you and two burning cones! (Paper! Flammable clothes and couch material! Your hair!)). I used foil between the paper plate and my head as an extra safety measure. I knew I was not supposed to do this without someone else monitoring the ear candles (purchased at GNC). But, as I said, I'd done this several times with someone else watching, and this was the fourth time I did it alone. Lying on the floor, I was facing the stainless steel dishwasher. All of a sudden I saw what looked like a flame reflecting back off the dishwasher door surface. I felt a slight breeze near my hair. I realized that the burning candle had turned to ash at the very top. And like a cigarette over-burning, part of the lit candle had fallen against my hair. A slight breeze in the room had caused the flame to blow into my hair! I jumped up and felt my head and began furiously patting my hair until that flame was extinguished. Frightened, I took the whole apparatus and flung it into the kitchen sink, where it set fire to a piece of paper inside a nearby plastic bag. In took only seconds---SECONDS--- before there were flames shooting up toward my kitchen cabinets. I used the sprinkler attachment on the sink to extinguish the fire---it didn't---and then I pulled out the fire extinguisher. What happened to me can happen to anyone. One moment of incaution and your life can change forever. I was lucky. And by the way, this method initially removed barely any ear wax. This is why I tried it so many times before my accident. A subsequent visit to the ear doctor removed quite a bit of wax, proving ---to me---that there was wax in my ear, but it wasn't going to be drawn out by ear candeling. This method is worse than ineffective; it's potentially deadly.

    Here's another test for you. Place some wax or earwax on a table, light the ear candle above, and see how much suction you can get. It won't work.
    Sucking waxy, sticky earwax off of soft porous skin, through a narrow ear canal, and up into the candle requires a lot of suction.
    You can also find videos where ear doctors examine the inner ear with a scope before and after candling. It doesn't work.

    Unfortunately all this shows is that if the bottom is relatively cut off from oxygen and thereby preventing a faster burn, it allows the inner layers to have a longer melt time and create the illusion of wax. There shouldn't have been ANYTHING remotely close to earwax looking in the outside ear candle and yet there was. Due to having more oxygen the candle burned faster and couldn't melt as much, but clearly had the same results only on a lesser scale. There's also no way we know if the ear was clean previously or not so this shows only a bad attempt at an experiment. Hopefully you update with another one! Good attempt though, really!

      The problem is the candle outside the ear is letting out vapor through the bottom and is not getting as hot as the candle in the ear.
      If you do this test again, but instead of having one candle in open air, put it in a glass of water, or a fake ear even.
      When the candle is sealed like it would be in an ear, it gets hotter and thus gets more wax.
      Ear candles are a waste of money, and don't work. I actually have to clean my ears about once every 4 months because I have extra ear wax. If I do not, my ears will get blocked and I will literally be deaf until I get it removed.
      The real (AND CHEAPER) way to remove ear wax is to buy an irrigation syringe from your local pharmacy shop. It shoots water in your ear and breaks the ear wax up. I suggest doing it in the shower as it can be messy and it is super gross when the ear was does come out.
      I implore you to do the test again correctly, and then also try the water irrigation way. Videos like this caused me to spend what little money I had in college to fix this issue I had when I was in pain. I didn't know about or have enough money for the real way to remove ear wax after buying the candles, and eventually went deaf and my parents had to take me to the ER to get my ears cleaned out by a doctor. The doctors confirmed the candles do not work and to just get the irrigation thing from CVS. Its like $5 and you can reuse it forever.

    Lots of funny comments, but my husband has chronic impacted cerumin, and using a syringe, warm water and peroxide takes forever and is beyond gross! So we're going to try it.

    I have done ear candling over the years (I was a massage therapist and offered this service to clients for years). My candles would always have the powdery soot in the bottom ( I don't have alot of ear wax). My husband's would come out like plugs. This past 4th of July we went to the river & I got water in my left ear. I experienced alot of pressure & blockage. I used the same ear candles that I've always used, & 3 ear candles later, I pulled out a wet gooey substance. The pressure on the left side of my head started to leave & my ear started to open back up. So my question is, if it doesn't do what it says it will do, why are there so many different results? Some of my clients experienced benefits, & some didn't. I think you have to do what works for you.

      Spiritisalive1 Same, I just went through this other video, in which the guy was talking about these things not working, but I’m like... I just did it and went to a doctor due to an ear problem (I thought the candle would help for that), it didn’t for that particular issue, BUT I was told by the medic that it DID clean my ear 👂. I just think it’s different results too .-.

      @@gaaraofthefunk7163 Did the medic say that THE CANDLE cleaned your ear?
      or
      That you had CLEAN EARS?
      Big difference there you know.
      And in your mind you may even instantly do the connection without even thinking about it - medic says" well...your ears are clean" - and in your mind, " of course, I use the candle...candle = clean ears". While they may have been clean all along, candle or not...

      Well, that is true to a certain extent. Of course, the human body is no as precise as a machine, some treatments will work for some people but may be useless for other. But some things are just what they are, no matter who's doing it. If you flap your arms very fast you won't fly, and it will be the same for everyone.

    On the non ear candle there was wax and the test is void because the 2 should be the same size when done. You could have burnt a lot of wax away . Mark both at 3" and burn both but on separate paper plates. 1 in the ear 1 out. That way if 1 burns faster you can put it out at the mark. Try again.

      +scritsz Why are you giving a copy and paste response to everyone? Your "proof" is meaningless. Show the before and after from inside the ear. That's the real proof. All you're showing is some pieces of wax from inside a candle. Wax. From inside a candle. How is that proving anything, other than that you burned a candle? You're choosing to believe a fairy tale, and that's your prerogative, but please don't impress it upon other people as something real.

    • @scritsz
      @scritsz  8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Some people taste the wax. I won't do that. I do look at the positive results my son had and that's good enough for me to try on myself. I made these videos because I was curious and I thought I'd share with people what I found. Believe what you want and do what works for you. I have no vested interest in convincing anyone either way. The amazing thing is how mean people are. Especially when they make ASSumptions of how things were done etc. Hope that make sense.

  • @adamzaidi1748

    Maybe if the fire was rather inside the candle then on the outside. A vacuum cannot be created from the way the candle is burning. Not only that ,but if the vacuum were strong enough to even pull the wax out it would completely rupture your eardrums. This is not possible and can be explained by simple science.

  • @Spacefish007

    • @torlumnitor8230
      @torlumnitor8230 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Timo Witte the thought is that the flame creates a vacuum that sucks the wax out of the ear and into the candle.

    • @Spacefish007
      @Spacefish007 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tor Lumnitor that makes no sense, as where should the air come from one there is mild vakuum in the ear.. you would have to punch through your eardrum.
      sucking on a bottle of wax does not make the wax come out, no matter how high the vakuum is (except minor sublimation)

    My aunts used to used white paper plates rolled up or a large side of paper groc. sack. And a damp towel to keep ashes from burning us when they did that on us as kids. Also they used to burn a piece of a paper grocery sack in a porcelain plate and get the yellow resin off the plate left after the paper burned up and use that for ointment on ringworms on my cousins.
