      Yeah you’re not the only one man I fkn loved the triple lights if we could just not talk about it that would be mint 😂😂
      But na it was a worthy compromise at the end of the day they’re just lights, the drawer will get dirty tools and gear out of my canopy!

    Definitely a good looking tray. Even though you've started again, it'll be worth it when it just works and looks how you want it to look. Since starting to use deutsch plugs about 4 years back I haven't looked back, easy to assemble and 13 amps on each pin and as you said waterproof. I've considered using an 8 pin for a trailer plug as I have to tape it on if I'm doing a lot of rough dirt road driving and losing the plug with 2 tons behind is not a nice feeling.

    • @ellietthillery8204
      @ellietthillery8204 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      100% a good idea for trailer/campers/vans. Also people can't borrow them 🤣

    • @kiho1995
      @kiho1995 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @ellietthillery8204 I'd have an adapter so someone could but I just wouldnt tell anyone unless needed, but both my trailers can take a pretty good load and beating so I'm not too concerned where they go.

    • @timmyhasheart
      @timmyhasheart  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah dude they’re brilliant, I used an 8 pin one for my stereo speakers, I also used an 8 pin when I replaced my gearbox loom, 6 pin one when I chopped the car and stripped out all the old wagon wires and sent the new loom to the back of the car! They’re good for anything really, on the trailer is a great idea.
      Added bonus that no one can borrow it haha, those trailer sockets are useless

      @timmyhasheart  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh you mean to get the shape perfect? That’s a really good idea, particularly for an odd shape, you obviously want to make it 1-2mm smaller so that you’re welding from the backside out cause you’re sanding your weld away (ask me how I know) haha but that’s a mint tip thanks mate, these ones were a bit easier cause it’s just a piece of 75x50 with 2.5mm wall, minus a couple of mm for weld peno and you’re at say 68x43 🙏🏻🙏🏻
      But that’s a wicked idea for odd shapes I hadn’t thought of it

    Looking killa mate, sometimes we gotta do thing's twice or three times to get them right✌️. the old digital CAD is proper handy but nothing compares the old age Carboard Aided Design. Things always look different in perception, big thing I learnt doing fab was take it out side when tacked together and have good look around from distance/angles 👌

    Hey timmy, i left a comment previously asking if i could make a rear bar with just a stick welder and a tube bender about 3 or so weeks ago. Just thought id say i finally finshed it. 150x50x4mm RHS around the perimeter and 10mm steel plate for chassi mounts and treadplate as the prados have a weird sort of step stool beneath the boot. All i bouggt extra was a metal cutoff saw as my folks were anxious about me copping a angle grinder blade to the eye. Ended up only using the angle grinder tho😂
    I just finished the spare tire swingout today, reallllllly happy with how it turned out. Just a 140amp stick welder was more then enough and my welds came out alriggt as ive been practicing on any piece of metal i could find. I too got sick of capping the RHS especially as im an unemployed 17 year old who cant afford materials so i used bloody 10mm plate to cap it off. Safe to say those caps are never coming off. Ill post some pics up soon once i get back from the wheeling trip. Just gotta weld some 32nb pipe to the side 'legs'of the bar to serve as quater panel protrctors. Considered fully quarter chopping her but on 120 series the quarter planel goes reallllly high up so ive still essnentially done a quarter chop. Its a beefy bar which i realised when i was trying to get it on the car at 11pm on a sunday noggt the fat before my chemistry final exam, litterally 3 hours before the paint was even supposed to be tack dry😂 i then dropped it on my foot hence my realisation of the weight. But yeah more than happy with it and you taught me almost everything i know. My old man is very knowledgeable in almost everything tools but welding and fabricating is new to him so i taught him along the way (dont worry i credited you ahaha). Also shoukd say i got a little win by not having to drill any holes into the chassis to mount it, i created a very overcomplicated mount on the top with another piece of 10mm as a washer and to stop the bolt pulling through the rather large hole toyota out in there from factory, and then on the bottom i picked up on the stock tie down points. Not recovery points as many would think, but still strong enough. Next up is custom rock sliders and then a custom front bar. Very keen on the front bar as no one really makes or has ever made a aggressive front bar for a prado (thinking millweld esk). Just gotta improve a bit before i can take on something like that. I just wanna make my own way of the prado as there are very few people who really take advantage of them. Everyone builds them to be near stock tourers. Also got 35s ringing on the door like crazy, and will have to go 4 inch lift soon. Maybe 5. Cheers timmy, you helped a lot, cant wait to see future eps just know ill watch em all.

    Tim, once again an amazing Vlog. Funny thing is today I followed home a Cruiser with a custom tray and they were running 3 lights either side. I couldn’t stop admiring them. Is the space available for the 2 to turn into a 3, even if tight ? No weight of splash back on them so clearance distances can be minimum. I love how you think it’s all sweet in CAD but the eye doesn’t approve. Your builds are not only amazing the eye for detail and looking right is right up there. Simple things like an angled rear pull out tray. Just wow. Thanks again for sharing. P.s. Rivnuts are awesome.

    • @timmyhasheart
      @timmyhasheart  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks so much mate always appreciate your insight and feedback, and na i don’t think I’d have fit them even if I crammed them together, the space is about 400mm and each light is 125mm so that’s 375mm but due to that bend the last 50mm or so is useless one end and due to the angle at the outer end the last 50mm is also useless there unfortunately, I did try haha cause I loved the 3 but that’s just the compromise we have to make sometimes 🙏🏻🙏🏻

    Hey Timmy
    Thinking about that expensive light you scuffed with the sander, I was wondering if it is not too deep, you might be able to wet sand it back & maybe get that plastic polish to bring it back or close to what it should be.
    Or as an experiment, thinking you might not get it back to its original polished state, see what kind of a frosted like effect you might get with fine wet sanding & polishing it? Just an idea Probably better things to do with ones time I guess.
    Tray is looking awesome!

    • @timmyhasheart
      @timmyhasheart  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah I’ll chuck it in the drawer as a spare and if I get a moment at some point I’ll see how I go, you might even be able to replace the lens cause they’re just plastic glued but yeah appreciate it mate 👍🏻

    • @leonkane8240
      @leonkane8240 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The ones I have bought are I guess middle market & looking @ them I am thinking it might be hit or miss trying to remove the lens, might do more damage.
      If you can see a seal or gasket behind the transparency of the lens or anchor tabs then they might have replacement lenses for them.
      Mine it looks are seal with like super glue & I don't know that even putting gentle heat along the join would help & the join has no gap to get a blade or plastic spade in to pry it.
      @ $300 a unit, it would kind of be nice if you could replace them.

But I also dropped and broke the lens on a reverse one so i know it doesn’t take much to get the cap off, I was thinking i could take the lens off a reverse one and glue it to the scuffed one but yeah anyway, they’ll all break when I’m flogging it in the bush hahaha

    On your other rig you said you needed to raise your fuel tank to protect it and you would also consider doing the same for this rig. What did you decide. Yeah dude that’s an awesome question so yeah they can rust, there’s 3 kinds there is aluminium, which I wouldn’t use for anything too structural, then there’s zinc or stainless. Stainless might have a tendency to reject the steel it’s put into anyway and rust and so I use the zinc ones. They don’t really rust in normal places but like in my wheel arches they can rust after a while. But they’re also not very difficult to replace 👍🏻👍🏻

    • @timmyhasheart
      @timmyhasheart  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yeah on the speed werx site you get whatever die correlates with what you’re using whether it’s, Pipe, NB tube, CDS, DOM, so I just have the 32nb die for 32nb which is 42.4 OD and then for 40nb I use my 40nb die which is 48.3 OD. All available on the site and they list in MM too. You can’t just use what’s “close” that’s when it kinks, you need the sides to be supported which means a perfect interference fit.

      @PauleyBuilt so NB is technically tube, because while it’s “bore” it’s nominal bore which means by name only, but as the wall thickness changes it’s the bore that changes, the OD never changes so technically tube. and what it sounds like is you have a pipe bender, or pipe kinker, which is what I used to have and I had to special order NB dies. Google “dawn dies 32nb” that’s what I used to use and it was a perfect fit, never kinked.
