"Freezin' \ Rests his head on a pillow made of concrete, again..." -- The song is about a homeless man likely suffering from autism if not a mental illness. When you're ready for more from Pearl Jam also check out "Alive", "Daughter", "Better Man", "Corduroy", "Jeremy", "Yellow Ledbetter", and "Elderly Woman Behind the Counter in a Small Town".
Grunge as a genre has always baffled me, Seattle music scene started breaking through in the 90s but of the four most recognized bands: Soundgarden, AIC, Nirvana and PJ... everyone had their own distinctive sound. You can't mistake PJ sound, not just because of Eddie's vocals but that each band member has deep rock roots. And they're still going strong. Dark Matter was released last year and is up for Grammys for Best Rock Album, Song and Performance.
I was not a big PJ fan but when kids ask what grunge is I show them this video. It's fully emblematic of the genre. As I get older the musicianship and skill in such young people creating something completely new like this means a whole lot more. So thrilled to see younger reactors with musical knowledge discover it. Great reaction ❤
AWESOME REACTION MY DEAR!! I LOVE GRUNGE MY FAVORITE GENRE!! MORE GRUNGE PLEASE. PEARL JAM, NIRVANA, ALICE IN CHAINS, SOUNDGARDEN AND MAD SEASON AND TEMPLE OF THE DOG AND SCREAMING TREES!! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS AWESOME VIDEO!! LONG LIVE PEARL JAM! 😊💓🔥🤘✌️
Grunge, or whatever you want to call this era, was a great reinterpretation and update of classic rock and hair metal. I love the instrumentation, the vocals, and composition. To me, it's far superior to the alternative music scene of the era, which ironically was highly popular. And this was, as far as I'm concerned, the last gasp of rock. Not exactly sure why. There's other decent or creative music produced since this era, but it doesn't strike me as rock. It's weird. This old feeling, whatever it came from, is just lost in modern music.
If you're feeling adventuresome here's a list of sampler songs from the last fifteen years that lean towards hard rock/grunge rock, organized from more likely to be heard on the radio to less likely (subjectively). Wolf Alice "Moaning Lisa Smile", The Pretty Reckless "Back to the River", Courtney Barnett "Nobody Really Cares If You Don't Go to the Party", Cage The Elephant "Cold Cold Cold", The Black Keys "LoHi", Lord Huron "Vide Noir", glassjaw "Black Nurse", Krooked Kings "Sick of Being Young", M'lasse "Le Navire Chavire", Speedy Ortiz "Fun", None Mothers "Ginny", Space Cadets "Memento", Red Pants "Witching Hour", Longheads "One Step Further", ATACAGA "Pathetic K (Heart Of Strabismus)" YMMV
Sure, no problem. None of them quite get that Les Paul Marshall Stack classic rock string bend through a wah-wah pedal feel that guitarists who grew up in the seventies and eighties picked up from Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page.
I'm 52 I've seen Pearl Jam 10 times the 90s was the best music for rock in my opinion check out Alice in Chains Soundgarden pearl Jam Temple of the Dog they're all great bands from that era and Eddie vedder's the only one still alive
🖤 "Jeremy" unplugged is amazing! Please check out the meaning of the song before listening. The official music video is a piece of art and very powerful! Powerful and sad... Happy new year for you and your loved ones! 🫶🏼
this is pearl jam at their best

Try Unleash The Archers - Awakening, lemme know what you think.
@@theidajawho I listened, but no, it's not what I would ever be looking for in rock. Why? Hard to say. It just lacks soul to me. Sorry! 🤷♂

This Grunge Rock song has a lot of '80's Rock elements, so it sounds good no matter what. Alice in Chains, is another band with that sound.
Grunge is my favorite!
This song can make me drive too fast
As far as todays rock go Unleash The Archers are my fav, they have that 80's Power Metal sound, I LOVE IT!
