Interesting that they wanted a cashiers check. For my apartment I pay all expenses (rent plus initial move in deposit) on an online resident portal through ACH payment(I go online have my bank account linked and set up a payment each month for rent)
for regular rent & utilities payments they have a portal for ACH payments as well! They only required it for all the upfront moving costs
