    FedEx delayed my high polished Meta SX. It was supposed to show up today 01/04, but it got pushed to Thursday. After riding my 2021 Meta AM for a year, I can't wait to see how the Meta SX compares. I will have to do a review too. I also got my frame from SpokeX. They rock.

    I love the Mullet. Running the 2022 Santa Cruz Bronson. I couldn’t do the full 29er because I love the playfulness of the 27.5 but I do like the bigger tire up front.

    Dude, I've been watching your channel impatiently for this 2nd edition about your META SX! So excited to see you getting a video out there before anyone else on this bike. Love your reviews and calm demeanor; it's a joy to listen to your perspective. I'm planning a trip to Colorado in May to rent this bike and see if it's for me. I'm the last person on earth to still be riding a 26" Yeti (since 2012) and this bike will surely open my eyes to a new world...I would like to see another video of this bike with you talking about addressing the flip-chip adjustment in the low position and how it rides differently, and include hard braking in those positions and standing climbing. I don't always sit to climb, so climbing feedback is way different than seated which you cover aptly here.

    • @MILTONATOR
      @MILTONATOR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the compliment, man! I will be riding it in the low setting this coming weekend (I’m curious myself). I’m lazy 😅so don’t really climb unseated but will keep that in mind as well as the hard braking 🤙🤙

    I have a Champagne SX frame hopefully coming in the next few weeks and will be having SpokeX build it up. Will be putting on a factory 38 and float X2. I’m so stoked to try it out and see how it compares to my TR signature.

    If you're getting an mixed wheel bike climbing/pedaling speed will be slower, no question. But most people, myself included, bought a mixed wheel bike for a 2nd fun bike...not as a do it all. I think of it as a long travel 27.5 bike with an upgraded front wheel 😉

    • @pablogonzalezhermosilla4210
      @pablogonzalezhermosilla4210 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It is slower, but it accelerates faster. If you lose momentum it's easier to spin a 27.5 wheel than a 29. Both have their pros and cons.

  • @edtsech
    @edtsech 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hey MILTONATOR, I see you have quite rocky trails out there. I'm curious do you feel like smaller wheel on the back hangs up a bit more on bumps? If you compare it to AM or TR do you see it as a sacrifice in terms of suspension comfort on the back? Thank you.

    • @MILTONATOR
      @MILTONATOR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not at all man. Personally the only somewhat, noticeable trade out is speed. A full 29er rolls faster. But I done feel like I’ve made any sacrifices going SX (mullet). Going on 5 months and still prefer it over the TR and AM. It’s like a blend of both actually

      @@MILTONATOR Thank you for the response! Btw, as I recall correctly you planned to switch from TR to AM, but then you went with SX. What made you switch your mind? Did you have a test ride on SX or it's because of AM frames availability you end up trying out SX?

    What's your opinion on fox x2 so far? I'm building my sx and trying to decide what shock to go with. My last bike was a yt jeffsy, and a coil transformed that bike due to the progressivity of the frame. People seem to say the AM29 is suited to air because it's more linear at bottom out, but I know they reworked the kinematic for sx, so im not sure how useful that is for me.

    • @MILTONATOR
      @MILTONATOR  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Was hesitant to get the X2 because it’s got more settings than I was used to and slightly heavier than the Float X, which is what I wanted. But I threw on the X2 performance on my TR and dialed it based on a Jeff Kendall-Weed video and it made the shock feel super plush while at the same time poppy. Sold! Went out and got this one, X2 factory. Still only messing with LSC and LSR and soon will learn how to dial in the HSC HSR

    • @MILTONATOR
      @MILTONATOR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks man. The sx wont fit a 29 out back. There’s a crossbar preventing it. In my opinion, the SX is an awesome bike. A big bike for big hits. If you’re all about speed and chunk, the SX is the one. If you’re more about poppy, playful, climbing, the TR is the one. The TR can take big hits too, just not as stable when speed picks up

    So commencal offered to replace it with a 2022 SX frame. But as a all mountain guide I'm a bit hesitant. I'm sure it's a beast on the downhill. But I'm afraid its going to be horrible on the climbs. I'm thinking about asking for a Tr frame. What is your experience about the climbing compared to the 2020 AM? It’s been my experience so far that the SX (flip chip in high setting) climbs slightly better than the AM. A bit longer chainstays, steeper seat tube and 64 head tube. I liked the TR but didn’t feel very stable on the fast descents (compared to the AM and now the SX). My opinion

    I have been watching your channel for a while and I believe you used to have a 2018 AM v4.2? How would you compare it to the v4.2? I have a 2019 AM v4.2 in medium and am thinking of replacing with an SX frame build in size small. The SX in small is bigger in nearly every dimension than my medium v4.2, and the medium v4.2 fits me about perfect (I'm 5'8"). I needed up trading it for a Ripmo v2 in May (5 months in) Not because I didn’t like the bike but because I crashed and realized I needed to tone down my riding a bit. The SX is such a fast and stable bike. And if speed and PR’s is what you’re after, this is the one

      @@MILTONATOR Thanks for the fast reply man! Im 19 and im starting to get noticebly faster in my riding (local dh prs and such). Currently ive got a Salsa Horsethief (120r 140f) and I really feel like im pushing that smaller rear shock to its limits. I really feel like the Commencals are a good pick for me since they are heavy duty aluminum frames and really agressive geo. I just dont really know what else is out there in terms of bikes of similar travel. (Also, is that Greer? From SD)

    • @MILTONATOR
      @MILTONATOR  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@henryojeda2890 yea man. Greer and Vail Lake in Temecula (near SD) Sounds like Commencal is the right fit for you. The geo seemed a bit too aggressive for me (on paper) but soon as I got on it, pedaled up and came down… it felt amazing! Spot on geometry. I tell people that this bike can get you hurt LoL! Makes you believe you can charge down faster you’re probably capable of. Good luck man. If you buy it, come on back and let me know what you think.

      @@MILTONATOR I just settled on the Fezzari La Sal Peak elite build. It ultimately came down to price. As I said im 19 so i dont really make a lot of money and the value in the elite build for what I was looking for is absolutely insane! DH rated carbon frame, Zeb ult & Super deluxe ult , Full GX, Flow mk4 rims, and Code RSC stoppers all for 4100$. The commencal was cheaper initially but, shipping was about 100 bucks less for the Fezarri so it leveled out. Thanks for the help though , really appreciate it. :)

    Which frame size you have and what you recommend for someone of 1.73m hight?

    • @MILTONATOR
      @MILTONATOR  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a tough one. I’m 5’ 9” (178 I think) and the medium fits me well. The other thing to consider is the 78 seat tube angle. When seated, it moves you closer to the cockpit, so even a long reach feels not so long (when seated)

      @@darcysanderson4920 honestly, if I were 5’ 10” I would personally still go with the medium. The medium feels spot on for me. At 5’ 10” you might feel the reach a little short when seated because the steep seat tube angle pushes you forward, but when standing up (and descending) it’s perfect

      I’ve not owned an Sb150 but I did demo it a while back. The sb150 is a super cool enduro bike and it being carbon, makes it lighter in weight, easier to climb and get up in the air. One big benefit of the mullet is the butt clearance when going down the steeps.

      Bro I’m almost 5’11 and got to demo a medium and it felt great. Actually it was the best bike I’ve ever hit jumps on. It’s so playful and poppy and not at all too small. I also have a large Remedy and a Large V2 Ripmo, and hands down was perfectly happy on the Medium SX. The large is enormous, closer to The new Firebird’s numbers. I’d probably throw a 50mm stem on just to compensate for the shorter reach.
      This bike doesn’t pedal as efficiently as my Ripmo, but descending, jumps and drops are so much easier than anything else I’ve ever ridden.
