    Perhaps there were ancient Roman discos, Mongolian mosh pits, and Mayan death beat harps. I bet there were lots of crazy things we have no clue about happening in the past when it comes to music. Ancient cultures were also probably way more advanced than what we give them credit for. There are some unique vibrations I hear some folks play that I still having figured out that sound very techno. It's like this weird vibration mode they can get their harps to do.

      I love the imagery of your comment. I agree! I wish we could listen to some ancient musicians and better understand what it was like back then.

    The first synthesiser you could describe as a synthesiser is a pipe organ. They imitate other instruments such as flutes, oboes, trumpets, tuba, clarinets, strings and other instruments in orchestras. The jaw harp will always sound like a jaw harp, it doesn't aim to recreate the sound of anything synthetically.

    • @SoundAdventurer
      @SoundAdventurer  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      yeah, I think in those terms that's true. I was just saying that he jawharp sounds like a sawtooth synth.

    1:07 The hardest part for me while doing this is to not breath out at the same rhytm i pick the harp at.... i can hear it almost working for very little time but then i just keeps synchronizing, i have no idea how to stop it, i don't think i was ever able to tap out 2 different rhytms with my hands let alone my breathing, are there any exercises for this?

    • @blaketto
      @blaketto ปีที่แล้ว

      or i just completely lose my breathing rhytm when it starts to work

    • @SoundAdventurer
      @SoundAdventurer  ปีที่แล้ว

      yeah, that is tough. the harp makes a difference, too. some harps don't keep resonating unless you are breathing at the same time which makes it tricky.

    I wonder if the Jaw Harp is painful to play if you have numerous fillings/crowns in your teeth. Since the instrument rests on your teeth, I can just picture fillings and crowns slowly getting vibrated right out of the player’s mouth. 🫨

    • @earthexperiments1947
      @earthexperiments1947 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Actually it shouldn't be that painful! Maybe teeth are more sensitive, but pain shouldn't be that present. Especially because the teeth are just like a support for the Jaw Harp, so you're actually not biting it ^^
