Bronzeworking should be the top of S, IMO. It is THE early game tech to acquire first so you can get a read on how much copper you’ve got. Same with Ironworking, as well.
I think the difficulty with Bronze Working is the consistency. Axeman vs. Archer is costly and copper isn't guaranteed. In the settings I play with (18 civs, marathon, especially earth map where you know where all the resources are), going alphabet to get early trading is overpowered and fairly consistent. The first 3 episodes of the Willem playthrough show how an alphabet rush was able to keep my economy in the game, and then I could use all the tech as an advantage to fix my situation. Not saying BW is bad - I think it's amazing - but I think it's just slightly easier to win the game off of rifling and alphabet, at least the games that I play.
Yeah, I avoid Scientific Method as long as possible. The loss of Monasteries is a massive dickpunch and it makes spreading religions to new cities on other continents a huge pain, because then you can only build missionaries in cities that already have monasteries, so your options for spreading religions are trade routes(only works once), building missionaries and then hauling them across the world using boats or your airports, or switching to Organized Religion. Very tedious thanks to Scientific Method.
Lol. Although, now that it's recorded, I can say that Drama actually played a decent role in the Willem playthrough. There are situations where it can be some good cheap trading tech to help your economy and some situations where the Globe Theatre is really, really good. I think C tier is appropriate: you could do something with it if the situation was right, but most of the time, it's pretty useless.
If you beeline alphabet, you can ignore all the other early techs and just trade for everything. Provides an enormous boost to your economy. My Willem playthrough that just started showed it very well in episode 1: th-cam.com/video/zs8gNl3lkfc/w-d-xo.html Another major strategy is how alphabet can really save your economy if you have a lot of excess production and nothing you really want to build, like in the second episode I have for Catherine (unfortunately no commentary). It really helped with saving an economy that was on the brink of collapse: th-cam.com/video/Vlsc62u7HfI/w-d-xo.html
It's linear, but you might want to research certain technologies first because some of them are really versatile (like bronze working) and can provide a lot of value
Its helpful since there are many points in the tech tree where there are major forks (pick this tech because it's better than the 5 available other techs)
You can’t rank this… You may prioritize one tech over another (strategy dependent i guess) but you can’t rank cohesively something this situational. Bronze working is more important than archery I suppose… but is it always? Ultimately you’ll have both, and depending on things like game settings archery may come first. Like it doesn’t make sense.

Best counter to that is adopting free religion, plus building libraries and observatories to make up for the monastery loss.
You do a really good job, but would you consider a best Tech Tree path? Or is that somewhere else?
“I’m not a huge fan of Drama.”

What are the amazing strategies with alphabet?? I never bother researching alphabet early I didn’t realise there was good stuff with it

You play on marathon instead of default settings, which invalidates the whole list. Thanks for letting us know at the start at least!
It's a valid setting to play on! I know it's not everyone's preference though. Definitely changes the game.
This list is 100% correct.
Really reaching for content here eh? Ranking techs? Based on what lmao it's a largely linear tree.
