It's truly sad to see the L platform finally go. At least it had a healthy 20 year run. What I wonder about, however, is what police agencies are gonna do with updating their fleets. A lot of them depend on Chargers because of their powerful V8s and better driving dynamics than their bloaded, top-heavy SUV counterparts. Not every agency can afford or wants to have a full SUV fleet. What makes matters worse is that no other domestic automaker makes a high displacement full-size sedan anymore. This was it. The world can only have so many Ford Explorers, Chevy Tahoes, or Dodge Durangos that handle horribly, have high roll-over risk, and don't have the high-speed capability the Charger had. It'll be interesting how this plays out in the future. It's a recipe for disaster for sure. A drastic redesign with a hybridized V8 or at least a V6 would've been the more logical choice but what do I know?
You are completely accurate, an eco boost v6 is not a replacement for a v8 Hemi. these hurricane i6tt motors sound like a vacuum, and suvs are far less capable keeping up with most sedans, let alone a muscle car. All you see catching folks in high speed chases are Hemi powered AWD Chargers
So Sad! I'm Retired @ Chrysler Plant #1 South Fenton, Missouri U.A.W. Local 136 No More Muscle Cars!
Thank you for all your hard work, so many people are bummed. We gotta hold these Hemis tight
Sad sad day in muscle
