I think everything they Said are correct but how many core based companies will come to the College for ECE ,EEE even after 4 years it will be very less when compared to CSE (other then top College like IIT)
With AI the scenario will change. Real CS jobs are few. The business applications of software created market for CS students. This will vanish when AI takes over.

It is going to he life time mistake. U do any engineering and end up working in IT company so what is the use of rejecting it. Atleast u do cse or IT u make justice to the engineering u do with the job.. otherwise it is of no use to other stream of engineering and working in IT

In my honest opinion, even though there are some small opportunities in core engineering, they are nothing compared to CSE/IT
Banks hire CSE graduates
Consulting companies hire CSE graduates
Even MNC engineering companies like Sneider Electric are going only for CSE graduates, other branches get nothing
Maybe a core engineering degree from a tier-1 reputed college may hold value, but otherwise there is not much scope for core engineering..
They don't hire cse grads, they hire prople who have knowledge in computer science.

Maybe a little engineering knowledge will be helpful especially if you want to be software developer. Because if a client asks for a software which requires engineering knowledge, you wouldn't struggle with it instead of going for pure cse which would become a problem.

Could you get mechanical engineering at GCE Salem.GCE Salem has good placements even Civil engineering.Yearly 97% students has placed.Compared to GCE burgur GCE Salem has good placements.GCE Salem has one of the top 15 colleges in Tamil Nadu.
