I’m honestly surprised nero didn’t figure it out himself. In the latter half of dmc4 it was stated that he was a descendant of sparda. Sparda only had 2 sons who could continue his bloodline. So either it was dante or Vergil. I’m assuming Nero just didn’t care and was waiting for dante to come out with it. Though if I were him I would have asked “are you my father?” long ago and when he said no asked “then who his?”. Though I guess to be fair nero didn’t seem to know anything about the sons of sparda (didn’t even know vergil existed until V explained). I guess he could have also just not cared at all until dante yelled it in his face

This is actually incredibly done. Here we see Nero really vulnerable, the bomb dropping he has a family, not only his father being the thing they were fighting and causing all this damage, but he had an uncle all long looking out for him. Just look at the expression on his face, poor guy is devastated. Lady here is also strong, anyone who has played DmC3 will know she can relate to what Dante is advising him against.

In the fight sequence between Dante and Vergil, Dante exclaims "you cut off your own son's arm for this?!" and Vergil responds "my son....means nothing to me!" When Nero fights Vergil, Vergil tells him "this has nothing to do with him, stand down", "it's past your bedtime", and seems concerned about the impact he made on him. As V, Vergil got to see what kind of person Nero is and I think he's proud of him.
I think they’re trying to present Dante as caring for Nero because he keeps trying to get him to avoid conflict and seems to actually watch out for him a lot which is a nice thing they added to the narrative
Would they take him for child support evasion since he was "assumed" to be dead for all of Nero's life? Even though that's a total BS excuse we saw him explode in DMC1. Most people don't survive blowing up unless they're a bs dragon ball character.

What gets to me a bit here is AFTER all that, everyone assuming Nero wanted to kill Vergil, but once he was told who he was, Nero was just left with so many unanswered questions, which is why he needed to get out of the van--- he had wanted answers, and being torn like he was to know that Vergil was his dad, took his arm to claim Yamato, and that Dante _KNEW_ and never told him when they met in Fortuna just left him very angry, especially since for the longest time, the only family he felt he had were Kyrie and Credo, and he already had failed to save Credo due to Sanctus' plans in DMC4. But you can tell too that Nero gets the motivation he needs when he comes to grips with all this new informaiton hitting him like fist.
A like how they still connect it with dmc3, Lady saying to Nero (about how he can't kill his own father) "it's true. You'd never recover from that". Nice touch

I think Nero's pretty damn upset with Dante too, having an uncle all this time but not knowing it. They had to go to Hell to stop the weird parasite tree. Leaving Nero to take care of the human side. If Nero went down to hell he'd be trapped there for who knows how long, he's still got a human life and also a strong demon hunter to take care of things while Dante is away.
I *LOVE* how they didn't want to use your 'kill your own father' trope. It doesn't work as well when you, as a player have zero connection with said father, but when you do it's way worse. (Well, let's just say that I never really got over then Kenway disaster. Whoops.) But seriously, it's great that they decided to do this. And it's great that you still get to fight Vergil. (Because I have this one bad father in mind I *really* wanted to punch in the face but never really got the chance to do it)

What gets to me a bit here is AFTER all that, everyone assuming Nero wanted to kill Vergil, but once he was told who he was, Nero was just left with so many unanswered questions, which is why he needed to get out of the van--- he had wanted answers, and being torn like he was to know that Vergil was his dad, took his arm to claim Yamato, and that Dante _KNEW_ and never told him when they met in Fortuna just left him very angry, especially since for the longest time, the only family he felt he had were Kyrie and Credo, and he already had failed to save Credo due to Sanctus' plans in DMC4. But you can tell too that Nero gets the motivation he needs when he comes to grips with all this new informaiton hitting him like fist.
A like how they still connect it with dmc3, Lady saying to Nero (about how he can't kill his own father)

The corresponding english voice actors are also the mocap actors since DMC3. The japanese are actually dubbing it this time, which is kinda ironic.
I like how no one notices Nero's voice actor plays Ichigo in Bleach dub.

When he's cocky he sounds just like Ichigo. When he's mad he sounds just like Lelouch. I can always tell when a character is Johnny B. Plus he was Nero in 4 and so during the reveal trailer after the red queen is revved I knew it was Nero I started listening closely. Then he said "What no chit-chat or monologue? Right to the point then!". That's when I recognised him and was happy he came back for it.

Dante might not have meant to come off that way, but he acts a little heartless.

I *LOVE* how they didn't want to use your 'kill your own father' trope.
It doesn't work as well when you, as a player have zero connection with said father, but when you do it's way worse.
