    Another great video.
    Being a medium/heavy truck mechanic and previous outboard mechanic (two stroke), I enjoy watching your repair videos.
    I have been a PWC owner since 1990.

    Forgot to mention something important ,ask for a test drive if possible cause jetskies can be sound good outside of the water but can be not running properly when on water just a friendly advice.

    I own a 04 Honda Aquatrax R12 non turbo 4 stroke, Great machine goes close to 60 mph. For about 2 years now. Hardly any maintenance I have to put into it. I Picked up a clean 97 GTS purple and white seadoo 2 stroke with double trailer for 500$ at the end of April of this year. It has nearly new, clean engine. No stains on the gas or oil tanks. 150/148 psi. Sounds great when firing. Too Good of a deal Couldn't pass it up.

      Can you still get parts for your Honda? Sounds like a great machine. We ride Honda motorcycles and we love them. Too bad they stopped making PWCs. We also loved our old 2 strokes, but started to get lots of mechanical issues. We could repair them, but their breakdowns started interfering with our enjoyment so we got rid of them. Glad to hear you have mechanical skills to deal with it. Good luck!

    • @JoseGomez-cj1tq
      @JoseGomez-cj1tq 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I can still get parts. I have a Honda motorcycle dealer here in Huntington Beach CA that still has oem parts for it. I took it in for the fuel tank recall about a year ago. The mechanic that worked on my recall asked where I bought it from. Said the engine was like new in great condition. He works on them all the time. He didn't even try to sell me something I didn't need lol. You know how they do it at dealers. I told him I bought it on offer-up app for $3300 including trailer. He said i got a good deal for the condition that is in.
      I sold the trailer for $450 this year, after it got a paint job. Then put the Honda on the double trailer next to Seadoo that i picked up for 500$

    Great video for someone who is looking to buy a PwC may I mentioned that on the seadoos you should also check the carbon seal make sure that it is not worn out and it is wearing correctly and on all makes of pwc make sure the steering is not tight if it is it could be broken wires in the steering cable.

    • @3ftDeepChannel
      @3ftDeepChannel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for the kind words. 2002 is quite an old machine. It may be in great shape, but I wouldn’t trust it. There is a lot that can go wrong with those older boats, especially electrical wiring that can cause endless frustration. I’d pay a bit more $$ and get something newer; preferably a machine that’s been taken care of and is 15 years old (or newer). We tend to stay away from anything more than 10 years old. It can be very dangerous to get stranded in the middle of a lake (or ocean), especially when the wind picks up. Good luck!

    • @3ftDeepChannel
      @3ftDeepChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In my opinion it's one of the finest looking PWC machines ever made. Very similar to the 300 models, but in the 300 models there were a few upgrades (including the supercharger). Some had leaking intercooler issues, which let water into the engine, so check that the engine oil is clean. The supercharger on those (pre- 2016) models requires rebuild every 150 to 200 hours, depending on who you ask. You should also check out the forums on Greenhulk.net, as it's a fantastic forum where people post their issues. Good luck!

      They all have the same, very good reliability. It really boils down to which one you like the look of. As long as the machine is well-maintained, the engine should be able to run for over 2,000 hours (I've just confirmed this with a rental company). On average, I'd expect to see 20 to 40 hours per year put on a machine (except in warm places like coastal Florida, etc.). If it isn't maintained though, be very wary as they can have very serious issues in

      It depends on what kind of machine you buy. We just tore apart a well-maintained GTI 130 with 900 hours on it and it was in perfect condition. An abused, supercharged model may only get to 100 hours before imploding, though. If it’s your first machine, I’d stick to a non-supercharged model (i.e. 170 HP or lower). Good luck.

    just purchased (2) 2002 Seadoo 4-tec's both clusters are out and needles not moving. Not sure if the clusters are even plugged in. Both run but as I put lanyard on two short beeps one long and run fine. Could the non working clusters create the 2 short beeps one long? One after running for a while runs slower as if the begginer key is on. If I pull the lanyard and put it back on its runs fine again, but as I slow down or come to a stop the same thing happens. The place to start troubleshooting the issues is to get the gauges working. Hopefully it's just a connector, as the gauges themselves are very expensive. Once you get them working you can see what error codes are being displayed. A CanDoo Pro may be able to get you the error codes before fixing the gauges, but they're USD$400, so I'd work on fixing the gauges, first. Good luck!

    Remember it's not going to be perfect, it's used. Most likely 1/3rd the price of a new one or less. Get to know a local reliable mechanic. They are hard to come by, or learn to wrench yourself. That's even better, save thousands.

    How much does a supercharger rebuild usually cost

    • @3ftDeepChannel
      @3ftDeepChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It really depends. It's about US$400 for parts, plus labor. To remove and install (with the proper tools) I'd budget about 1.25 hour at $125 per hour. Also add about 1.75 hours to rebuild, so say about 3 hours total. So, about another US$375 for labor for a total of about $800 plus taxes. There are, however, online services like Greenhulk.net where you can send them your supercharger and they rebuild it for you and ship it back. Last I checked they charged about US$100 plus parts, but it's been a while for us. You can also check out PWCMuscle.com, as they also have a service for about US$545 (parts, labor and shipping included). Good luck.

    Never buy a jet ski with a super charger or turbo they go out usually around 100 To 150 hours and cost about a $1000 to fix. Im on jet ski websites sites daily researching this stuff.

    • @3ftDeepChannel
      @3ftDeepChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Remember that the jetski forums always talk about the cases where they fail, so they're biased. We always maintain ours and have never had one fail. You're right about maintaining them though. We rebuild them every 150 to 175 hours, and it costs us about $350 USD just in parts. It's a lot cheaper than taking it to the dealer, though. That's also why we make these videos ...so people can save money and understand their machines better so they can fix them if they have issues. Thanks for your comment.

      They had issues with the supercharger washer coming apart. We also found some with bearing issues. They fixed the problem in 2008.

      I believe they fixed the problem sometime in 2008, but if you have a machine from 2008 or earlier and the supercharger hasn’t been rebuilt, I will do so immediately. Also, if it has over 150 hours and hasn’t been rebuilt, it should be done.

    • @3ftDeepChannel
      @3ftDeepChannel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would need to confirm that the supercharger has been rebuilt or expect to do it before putting it on the water. It’s an expensive job. Also, as it’s more than 10 years old, expect occasional repairs that you may need to do yourself (i.e. while on vacation, etc.) so you’ll need to have mechanical skills and tools. Good luck.

      Speaking from experience, the ‘90s machines are laying around all over the place …in junkyards. When they became way more expensive to fix than they were worth, we got rid of them. It wasn’t like today when there are worth a fortune because skis are so hard to get hold of. Good luck with your search.
