I thought this was just going to be funny haha, but instead I got a masterpiece. it feel like I got served a seven course michelin star meal when I had ordered mcdonalds.
I'm actually blown away at the quality of what I essentially assumed to be a shitpost 😭Incredible work. I love your use of texture and colors throughout the whole thing.
If I had the time to write a proper essay analysis about this I would, but I just wanted to point out how amazing the double bass part was written in Variation 8. I mean, it's not much but changing the bass motif from moving upward to downward to signify the protagonist was losing was a brilliant touch. I also loved your use of recurring themes and leitmotifs to signify changes in atmosphere.
how to make this authentic replace flutes with dizi replace bassoon with bass suona replace horns with treble suona replace harp with guzheng replace violins with erhu replace violas with banhu replace cellos with zhonghu replace bass with huqin (epic video btw)
@@qubixalofficialI think it would be a cool idea to make a score that has a western orchestra interact with a Chinese orchestra; maybe a battle before both join together?
@qubixalofficial musescore 4 supports vst now, so you could download oriental instruments from well known free libraries like simple instruments, or spitfire, etc.
This is so well done. I love doing these kind of exercises as well. One suggestion is to try breaking the time signature for extra challenge - like write one in 5:4. Also great job on the editing and mock-up.. many of these on youtube are just a screen record of the notation software but this is quality writing and presentation!
I love how the video actually goes with the music. And I hate when musescore videos will just show the entire 56 instrument score when like 5 instruments are actually playing at a time and you cant even read the notes.
Okay. I've done a lot of vocal composition over the years -- mostly choral and contemporary a cappella -- and am only now starting my journey into writing for instruments. I am legit going to study this to start picking up practices and habits. Bravo!
In 2022 i was at partial and during lunch we watched a movie about some Chinese guy being a hero or something. I dont remember anything about the movie, but i do know that this could have worked perfectly as the soundtrack
This is an absolute masterpiece! I love 10(a) in particular. It's very Dvorak-esque. I'm an aspiring film composer myself, so you'll have to teach me a thing or two!😆
Amazing work, like why did you even decide to spend your time to write both the soundtrack and a scenario for a chinese legend movie that doesn't exist 😂
They most likely used MuseScore, which already has those sounds pre-loaded. However, MuseScore doesn’t have a Pipa sound so they must’ve sampled that sound in for the video.
You could say it's "theme [_the_ jingle] and variations." After all, take Mozart's K. 265 for example. It's listed as "12 Themes on [French folk song] 'Oh, Mom, if I could Tell You'" and he uses very similar structure!
Is by ANY chance Basil Poledouris one of your liked or even favorite composers? That first 1:46 reminded me a lot of him. Maybe it's just the choice of instruments and pacing...
comments are on this time :) what's with the random double semiquaver rest in bar 8 all a due is kinda npc schlagzeug parts epic tho tamtam is nice chinatown was so abrupt :/ pipa so random wth wtf was var. 5 choir just spawned what tympani in var. 7 sounds oddly familiar straussssss????? hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm why we go to middle east in var. 8 is main character looking for oil to fuel his diy dragon to fight the 5 dragons that invaded the village? the side character death is real tho npc town where high-speed wifi isn't high-speeding (aka random basement with a smokehouse and jacuzzi in australia idk)
i would do that but it's bad for attention span unfortunately because most people would just click off from a singular static picture showing the score and also sometimes the score is too long to be shown at once sorry :(
I mean they used a due for all the instruments for the majority of the composition so ig just one trombone part was necessary instead of the usual 3+1 tuba. but ye why no tuba
with surprise appearances of _that_ lick (you know which one)
lol thanks!
with surprise appearances of jerry's bait shop (you know the place)
@Nibiri3304 didn't expect a reference to that here (you know the one)
Explain the lick, not getting it.

oh my god the fact that you fit the lick into this is insane
lol it actually wasn't intentional but it happened

yeah i would but using musescore i need all the soundfonts and i almost got a virus downloading the pipa one :( maybe next time

I love that you incorporated Molihua into the Chinatown var.
i downloaded a Pipa instrumental sound to make it sound more asian lol, it sounds really similar to muolihua but it isn't :)
@@qubixalofficial I won't lie, this sounds more similar to 梁祝, or "butterfly lover suite".

I legit thought this was a joke at first. But holy shit, I felt like I was listening to the KungFu Panda soundtrack
The "east Asia" cue that's the theme *is* in "Kung Fu Fighting," for example!
The fact that the leading tone in measure 48 isn't notated as an A# is unforgivable.

Someone (it may have been you, OP) thought of the Mission Impossible theme in the strings at the beginning of variation 6!

wish you luck and thx!
a.k.a. masterclass in motivic writing
Var III kinda feels like the protagonist is dating some kung fu girl and ends up getting his ass kicked by her
Wonderful composition. Especially part II and the claves at 4:08.
In 2022 i was at partial and during lunch we watched a movie about some Chinese guy being a hero or something. I dont remember anything about the movie, but i do know that this could have worked perfectly as the soundtrack
nice.. you don't remember anything abt the movie but do you remember which movie it was?
I was expecting a meme, not an homeric novel in musical format
screenwriters and playwrights take notes
*that* Asian jingle if it was composed by John Williams
I have only one word for this: FUIYOH
4:22 sounds like kahoot music
reall how did I not notice :D
sounds like club penguin card jitsu
Even the top comment did not prepare me for what I just beheld. You, sir, have earned my subscription. 👏 👏 👏
ay thx
I need to check out your other stuff asap this is amazing

dude you're mad underrated, coming from a fellow composer, i love your style so much
thank you!
This is great! Loved the editing. Keep it up!

Wonderful! You earned yourself another subscriber. Nice editing as well
This is really cool. Well written and colourful. Awesome job mg
Why is this actually good lmao
This is incredible!
0:57 reminds me of bartok’s concerto for orchestra
hmm never rlly listened to bartok before. I might try him out
Variation 3 sounds either like a remote chinese village in the 1800s, or a scene happening in some sort of pagoda garden.
Incredible video, please continue to make more! ❤❤
will do ty
this was pretty! loved the story as well lol
glad you enjoyed! :)

Semi unrelated, but the jingle starts the Chai Kingdom theme in Super Mario Land.
in love with this piece of music but as a trumpet player the trumpet parts in the 8th variation make me want to cry 😭
4:36 became Arabic
compulsory journey to the west reference
ah yes
a very colorful work, i actually like var x a lot
thx!
@qubixalofficial I liked variation 6- someone said the strings were reminiscent of Mission Impossible (except for the group of 8 being completed)
Underrated masterpiece man! Sub
thanks for sub :)

@qubixalofficialhow does boredom always come out beautiful omg
Beautiful composition! By the way, what program did you use to reproduce all the sounds? They are so good
They most likely used MuseScore, which already has those sounds pre-loaded. However, MuseScore doesn’t have a Pipa sound so they must’ve sampled that sound in for the video.
yes confirming what amazingerrchannel said they used musescore with a sampled pipa

I'm reminded of the mission impossible motif at 3:36
I heard an almost identical melody (only difference: it completes both sets of 8) right as variation 2 started!
The only note I have is I would love for some of the shorter variations to have a little more time especially VII at the dragon palace
yeah really was pushing for an upload could've done a lot more :(

What software did you use? Sounds nice!
@Marunius they used musescore but sampled the pipa bc musescore doesn't have a pipa soundpack :)
