I can see where some type of chowder might remind someone in the northeast of growing up or biscuits and gravy, pot roast, etc. can remind somebody from the south (or anywhere) of home. My grandfather used to make chicken a la king when I was growing up and if I had some now it would remind me of home and growing up and if it tasted like his, it would probably bring tears to my eyes. That would be one of my comfort foods but it is personal and everyone has something different.

What I really like though, is a Johnsonville Brat, on the grill, on a toasted hogie roll, with stone ground mustard and sauerkraut. My eyes would just roll back into my head after one bite. Pair that with a Pacifico beer, sigh, man on man.

One of my fav traditional pizzas is pepperoni, sausage (italian) and mushrooms (the fat juicy ones). This is also the perfect base to throw black olives, sliced tomatoes or bell peppers on. If you are getting a 1 topping deal go with ordering a bacon (not ham) pizza (ask for white sauce instead of red sauce). I love spicy cabbage rolls or a good meatloaf too for comfort (meatloaf is faster to cook).
Funny story about my daughter and "cheese"burger when she was younger. We would have McDonald's as a treat and would ask our oldest daughter if she wanted a cheeseburger Happy Meal. She would get all upset and say no, I want a hamburger with cheese. When we ordered her a cheesebuger Happy Meal, she would respond with, a hamburger with cheese, but be content when she saw it was correct. It was too funny. Pizza: Sausage, Pepperoni, Onion & Black Olive for toppings with a VERY light dusting of salt (makes the cheese POP, take a bite with no salt, then add just a touch and take another bite. The Sault makes the cheese POP) with a sprinkling of Garlic Butter on top. For Corn on the cob IF you boil it, add in 2 cups (470 ml) of butter milk to the water and 1/4 cup of sugar (50 grams). This makes it creamy and sweeter. You can also use Stevia, a sugar replacement.

I’m 67, and a GRITS (girl raised in the south) and I had never heard of chicken and waffles until about 10 years ago. The idea of them is gross to me. I LOVE Dunkin’ Donuts “Boston Cream”. The other flavors don’t float my boat. PB&J is a staple, and I eat it at least once a week, but I’ve never thought of it as comfort food. KFC potatoes & gravy are my favorite comfort food. Original crust chicken goes perfectly in the comfort category. Grilled cheese sandwich and chicken noodle soup is another comfort food for me. (The iron toasting method is a joke) Hot dogs aren’t a comfort food to anyone I know. Pot roast w/potatoes, carrots & onions with gravy are my family’s favorite comfort food. Mac and cheese is a favorite too, but my kids never wanted homemade or gourmet, they wanted the kind that come in the blue box. 😂 Chili, homemade, Wendy’s or Wick Fowler’s kit are our favs.
In America we have Jelly, Jam and preservatives, most likely jam and preservatives are made with real fruits , my favorite is peach or Apple jam, so good but it is a bit pricey.
You need to watch food related videos on a full stomach. Then what you watch you can plan the next night's dinner. You will have all night to think about it. Maybe, it will come to you in a dream. I like the soft brownies, but with the edges. There is a bagged cookie/brownie treat in the stores. If you like the edges, this brownie comes in thin chips/broken pieces. Homemade chicken soup, pastina, beef stew, pizza, and breakfast food, like biscuits, waffles and French toast. I love sandwiches! A Monte Cristo is to die for! I’m Italian American so I love NY style pizza but I do not like pepperoni. Too greasy. I like the cheesesteak pizza with peppers, onions and mushrooms. No funky stuff like chicken or pineapple. Not on pizza. My favorite pizza is NY Sicilian. Thick crust square pie. I try to get pizza from an Italian restaurant though. No chain pizza.
Comfort food may vary from family to family or region to region. I'm old and had never heard of chicken and waffles until i saw them on youtube videos. Also, I have lived in two southern states and had never heard of biscuits and gravy until a nearby fast food place advertised it on its sign 10 or 15 years ago. When I saw the picture, I thought it looked really gross. I do see people liking it on various videos and saying that it tasts better than it looks. But I cant get past the wet bread. Sure do like many of the others mentioned here though.

For me, pizza has to have Italian sausage. Living in the Chicago suburbs, that's the kind of pizza sausage I grew up having. Chain pizza places like Papa Johns or Domino's use a sausage that's like breakfast sausage and it's nasty.

I'm a crunchy PB&J guy, crust on. There's a difference between jam and jelly. Gotta have tomato soup with grilled cheese. I'm a chili dog guy. If you like corn on the cob, you should try Elote.

You need to watch food related videos on a full stomach. Then what you watch you can plan the next night's dinner. You will have all night to think about it. Maybe, it will come to you in a dream. I like the soft brownies, but with the edges. There is a bagged cookie/brownie treat in the stores. If you like the edges, this brownie comes in thin chips/broken pieces. It is packed with flavor and an edge like taste in every bite. The brand, Sheila G's and it was shown in this video.
Krispy Kreme is expensive here too but oh so good. A dozen donuts could set you back a paycheck. Crazy.

my Dude!!!! oh yes brownies, I'm definately a Fudgey guy rather than a cakey one...and a great ganache on top just to make it impossible to stop. Mac and Cheese used to be a staple around here (mostly homemade). Pepperoni reminds me of my Irish dad who bought sticks of it and sat their slicing it up....I got curious and asked for a bit. and the next time more....Of course I like it on 'Za but I like a bit of veg as well.

I’m Italian American so I love NY style pizza but I do not like pepperoni. Too greasy. I like the cheesesteak pizza with peppers, onions and mushrooms. No funky stuff like chicken or pineapple. Not on pizza. My favorite pizza is NY Sicilian. Thick crust square pie. I try to get pizza from an Italian restaurant though. No chain pizza.

Comfort food may vary from family to family or region to region. I'm old and had never heard of chicken and waffles until i saw them on youtube videos. Also, I have lived in two southern states and had never heard of biscuits and gravy until a nearby fast food place advertised it on its sign 10 or 15 years ago. When I saw the picture, I thought it looked really gross. I do see people liking it on various videos and saying that it tasts better than it looks. But I cant get past the wet bread. Sure do like many of the others mentioned here though.

For me, pizza has to have Italian sausage. Living in the Chicago suburbs, that's the kind of pizza sausage I grew up having. Chain pizza places like Papa Johns or Domino's use a sausage that's like breakfast sausage and it's nasty.
