  • An early morning departure from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport on Runway 31L bound for Dallas Fort Worth DFW. I always try to grab seat 23A on American's 737-800s. The seat's window is perfectly aligned and offers a nice view of just enough of the wing. Up? Up? And away! This flight to Dallas was weight restricted and it sure showed on this long takeoff run!

Hold on, is that a piece missing out of the flap?

Wowww LoL “ Up Up and Away “ is an old slogan used on ads and commercials when TWA were on operations around the 1970’s-80’s

Long roll. But the previous time I flew on an AA 738 it was longer by about 2 seconds. Not to worry, it got off a 13000+ foot runway 17R at DFW and used about 8500 feet. Not sure how many feet this one used.

I just calculated the distance, it's about 8200-8300 feet here! Must've been hot and heavy in DFW.

@@flapsnslats it was a warm day. Full aircraft, flaps weren’t down too far, didn’t push thrust too hard either. Was over 45 seconds from thrust set to liftoff.
