Congratulations on the next generation! The original Prusa i3 design was a major inspiration and we still love ours. There have been so many incredible developments over the last 10 years, and it's great to see the newest iteration incorporating so much of what we have learned in a classic form factor. Great job on the new machine and kudos to the talented team at Prusa Research. May your next 10 years be as transformative as your first!

Made the untimely venture into 3d printing roughly a year ago, right before moving to our family house. The sheer amount of household items, wall mounts, alternative hinges offered by the prusa portfolio (and I mean Portfolio.. slicer, printables, webshop..) was and is insane.
The team and the community really built something here. Happy to see the developments continue, and all of us be happy part of it. Thank you.

While I welcome the mk4, wth took so long? This should have been out sooner. Hopefully it brings with it the trademark quality and reliability of previous prusa printers. It is a desperately needed printer in the world of slow as molasses off the shelf printers. Now if they offer it with a larger build volume they would beat Bambu and retake some lost market share.

Five years ago I bought the MK3 with 2 smooth PEI sheets. I upgraded it later to MK3S and ordered 2 textured sheets. I also bought later a Prusa Min+ with smooth PEI-sheet, which I am also not using.
I think about to buy in winter 2024/25 a new PRUSA MK4-S. The -S includes some improvements as a real input shaper and a satin sheet (41€) etc. Nowadays almost all Chinese printers include textured print sheets. Prusa should allow the customers to choose the print sheet for the MK4 - in my case I would be willing to pay the difference (41€ - 29€ =12€) for a Satin print sheet. But for sure - I am not going to waste money for a third smooth print sheet.

When i saw the price 😅 at this point it's marketing and quality, honestly i was never impressed by bed slingers. And I have an i3 clone, amazingly reliable printer. I even designed a lot of parts for it. But my old faithful that still prints is a MakerBot Replicator (those old wooden ones), but recently replaced by a Creality cartesian printer (Sermoon D1) which was there first step into a high end consumer printer, TONS of design flaws which I've been fixing/redesigning and adjusting the g-code for. It's no Bamboo Labs P1P but I'm printing perfect prints at 200mm/s 1000mm/s^2 without input shaper ran on it yet 😮 right now the limiting factor is a bearing that's starts to chatter (it's been greased) when you pass 250mm/s 😢 but works on 500mm/s 5000mm/s^2 😅 as long as it's a small print 😂 then it catches too much speed and the sound is horrific lol (using the Sonic Pad, total game changer)

As always, great to see that upgrading is available from a Mk 3. Kudos. Great incremental upgrades, that add up to a lot. I like it. That said I may keep my customized Mk3 and add a Mk4. I wonder if you guys made belt tensioning any easier... tensioning the Y axis under the bed instead of up front at the pulley is silly, and the same goes for tensioning the X axis, at least on the mk3. But... fixed that with aftermarker printed parts, can probably do just that on the Mk4 if needed.

    • @Boopadee

Yep, same here..lol I saw the upgrade kits too... They don't seem worth it in price. Why pay $579 for the mk4 upgrade kit when you can spend $250 more and get an entirely new printer...
They'll be back in stock though so no worries. I love my mk3s (have the + parts in the box) but this 4 will be nice addition! The XL is just too large of a machine for me. I do wish the mk4 would be slightly taller or larger print bed. That's a shame it's the same... but a plus cause we can still use all our current sheets for it.

Everyone seems to think that Prusa will die due to a certain other manufacturer (Bamboo Lab). However, I would personally choose this over one of their printers due to the open source nature and the proven reliability. A corexy with faster printing would of course be preferable, but that is also the only advantage I see with the Bamboo printer. And then you would loose the upgradeability from MK3 -> MK4.

Bambu Slicer is based on the Prusa slicer. When you want to use the Prusa slicer (as a base) you need to agree to the open source nature as well. So its not laging there either.
