    If the Basque language goes extinct, just know a whole language family that existed for 6,300 or more years will go with it too.

    • @gamermapper
      @gamermapper 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +27

      Fortunately, the Basque Country won't go extinct because it has both a very active nationalist movement and also a lot of government support. Unfortunately, though, this isn't the case for a lot of stateless nations and peoples. For example, a lot of indigenous tribes of America or Australia could have their language and distinct culture go extinct soon. Unfortunately, though, they often don't have the material powers to make their language great again. Or they don't care that much because they've been at the point where they don't see it as an issue. Even though a lot of these languages could also be from very separate language families. It's really a shame, and I would hope one day to see all languages and cultures, especially minority ones, fighting together for equality.

      the Corsicans are an Italic people subdued by France, when it bought the island. The Basque Country is one of the founding roots of Castilla and Spain, Spanish prides until a separatism appeared based on the defense of the Old Regime that quickly led to racism and supremacism. I have to say, reading this comment section gave me hope in humanity. I am so used to everyone in Spain saying horrible things about our culture and language, it made me really happy and hopefull seeing so many even nationalists here being supportive and apreciating us. Thank you to all of you out there who instead of doing the easy thing, hating, are instead trying to be open minded to understand us.
    The reason we want to be independent is not because we dislike Spain, we are just trying to save our culture and language, like everyone does, and it's sad to see so many people coming here and just speak in Spanish because it's the easy thing to do because basque isn't the official one.
    It's also sad we have to live separated from our French side, our land is splitted in half and taken by two different nations wich doesn't really give us a feeling of much freedom.
    People usually think it's a thing about hate, but it's not, it's about self preservation and feeling our land is ours, and not someone elses land where someone else decides what we can do or not.

    As German Hiker who marched trough the Transpyrenaica and the GR20 in Corsica, i can say that the Basque and Corsican People are very similar in their characters and wishes for the future. But there is one exception between them, most Basque people are satisfied with the current situation (Own Police, own Rights, own Federal Goverment etc.). This is totally different with the Corsican people who are still fight for complete independence. But this is my own opinion after a long time and many conversations with people in this countrys. P.s This Song is a wonderful piece of culture that reminds me of two beautiful countrys and people and i hope each of them gets what they wish for. Auf ein Wiedersehn from Germany

      I am Corsican and you understood our situation well, we want more recognition of our culture, language, people, and despite the basques, we don’t even have autonomy because France is a very centralised country, who don’t really recognise the different people of France, so some corsicans are for independence and some others just want more autonomy for our Island, and also for other people from the different regions in France

    March, 2023: French court bans official use of the Corsican language in Corsica.
    "Beyond the language question, the court said local rules effectively establishing “the existence of a Corsican people” were also a violation of the constitution."
    How is something like that possible in a "liberal" western European country in 2023. This is outrageous and Europe does not care. How can a state simply deny the existence of a people, of an identity. This makes me incredibly sad and angry! God bless you Corsican people!

    Greetings from Bulgaria, i personally love this song and think it needs more popularity. Much respect to Basque and Corsicans, one of the oldest national identities out there also same as us. We are both not many but our hearts are filled with hope and will to survive. Sadly a lot of bulgarians dont realise what we have and hate it, they leave to go and sink in the matrix, in west europe where everything becomes one soulless blob of sadness

      Scottland are split
      Northern parts are the gaels who want independence and come from irish planters
      Low landers are anglo planter ls and vritons who want the union
      It's not as straightforward as you think. Scottland isn't a tribe too a land it is a meetup point for 5 major tribes. The native Scott's aka the Picts have no say they were colonised by irish and Scotland has always been a gaelic kindom after that but never had a full gaelic majority population since it was invasion and today that creates low levels for independence

    it reminds me Sardinia because the Corsican language is more closer to Sardinian and to the Italian as well.

    • @lucasansone6825

      In realtà col sardo non c'entra niente, è molto più simile all'italiano standard. Infatti io che non sono sardo ho capito il 99% di ciò che ha detto il cantante corso, mentre se avesse cantato in sardo avrei capito forse l'1%

    • @jon2067
      @jon2067 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's not even close to be true. Sardinias has a proto European origin while Corsican not only has and indo-Aryan origin but a proto Italic one. The similarities with Sardinian are solely due to the Italian loanwords in the Sardinian language.
