- Discord introduced loot boxes for their April Fools Day prank. In the process, however, they accidentally created one of the biggest TH-cam viewbots in history, breaking TH-cam guidelines and setting a record for most video views in 24 hours. How did Discord get a billion views in such a short amount of time?

Interestingly, the video likely didn't really make any money, due to embeds not having ads on them, thus indirectly costing TH-cam even more than hosting a 600 million view video normally would.
plus, even if they did, the channel didnt even break 4000 hours last month, meaning they werent even eligible to even make any money

Well like, loot boxes on Discord did exist as an actual feature on April Fools, as they were unlimited use, cost nothing, and would award one of nine artworks when opened.
I also checked the Wikipedia article for the most viewed TH-cam videos about the "viewbot" thing, and it says every IP address is only allowed either 4 or 5 counted views every 24 hours (any further views would not add to the total until the 24 hours have passed); So at a realistic most, over 280,000,000 IP addresses watched it at least five times within that single day, which is still far more views than what the GTA6 trailer got.
This will be a historical moment ought to be remembered

I saw that little pop-up and i may have hovered over it myself, so I guess I had a hand to play in all this.
I don't have Discord and don't plan on getting an account for my own personal reasons, so this situation completely flew by without me knowing about it while it was happening. In the immortal words of Bob Ross, what a happy little accident this turned out to be.
