As a swat medic. I personally want everyone to carry Nitrile Gloves (or water proof duty gloves) and some Compression gauze as well as a tourniquet. Since SWAT teams generally have a higher chance of shooting someone. You never know who your gonna deal with and some form of PPE is nice. Also Tourniquets can't be used everywhere so gauze is nice.

@@JohnSmith-od9mr Yeah. One thing that is pretty much never talked about, is the different methods for actually trying to CONTROL your severely injured "patient" who is thrashing and screaming because you are trying to pack 12 feet of gauze deep into his arterial bleed lol.
If you are alone, it can be extremely difficult to control them and still treat them
So definitely look into that and learn a few methods.
And the Celox Applicators are amazing. get a few.
@@JohnSmith-od9mr Be a firefighter, they are usually the ones that are swat medics. Firefighters stay as firefighters but when SWAT gets called, they go with them as the medic. Firefighters are trained EMTs, for SWAT medic you might have to get your paramedic certification at least that's how it is down here in Florida.

I've used those glow sticks for emergency traffic direction as security as well. I like the WalMart ones, typically less that $1

You can program your radio to disable the backlight. Your radio guy should be able to take care of that.
FYI you can have your department radio guy program that light to be always off or turn on only when you push a certain button on the radio.

Radio techs can disable the lighting on the radio. I own an APX7000 I used for my sheriffs office. I have it to where the only light that comes on when I transmit is the little red LED, which can also be turned off. It’s surveillance mode. Radios assigned for swat should have that set! They can also be set per channel. So regular channels will have lights, and special channels can be blacked out.
The xps radios have a surveillance mode that keeps the screens from lighting up. The negative is the speaker wont work unless a microphone is attached.
let's be real though if you're using it without a mic you don't need surveillance mode
This is a nice set up my swat gear needs an upgrade I’ll probably be looking into something like this that mesh would be great for the South Georgia heat. I personally carry my gas mask on my off hand leg but it’s all about preference. I’ve also recently discovered those electric glow sticks I’ve had a chem lit hit the corner of a brick causing it to bust and painting me with it.

Only seeing two mags on a carrier is hard to get used to but I guess most confrontations S.W.A.T. get into don't require a full combat load.
If a civilian police officer has used more than 90 rounds of 556 something has gone very very wrong. And you would have other officers and backup there before this ever happens

Old video but in my podunk county sheriff's office our patrol outer carriers have 5-6 because of the small department size and large coverage area
I have seen L.A Swat team carried up to 4 additional mags.

Those radios are Motorola APX radios and they are relatively new and came out not to long ago

Only complaint is that it comes in the original packaging. So everyone knows what it is and could potentially be stolen. Other than that it seems like it’ll be comfortable. I’m currently 5 days away from giving birth and it fits around my belly comfortably. Price wise it’s perfect. Can’t wait to use this with my new little one while chasing my toddler.
Peltor ComTacs are nice headsets. Otto Engineering's TAC series blows them out of the water though. I'd recommend the Otto's over anything Peltor if it's feasible for your buddy's agency.
Good information going to pick one up. Trying different carriers. I use crye 2.0 not to hip on the shoulder straps. Looks like rubber. Looking forward to get my k5
After two years I wonder what plate carrier he’s running now.
I have been running the Agilite K19 and find it’s really comfortable. I did do some upgrades to it that make it work a lot better for myself. Running a HRT Maximus placard with three rifle mags, two pistol mag sized pouches, two smaller GP pouches up front for a bunch of shit like my Leatherman, one of my tourniquets, food, smoke or whatever else I need quick. Ferro Concepts Wingthing for my radio and Knifehook. BFG Tenspeed mag pouch, a Dangler with soft armor, plus side plates. I usually run Agilite’s AMAP III for 1-2 day ops unless we are fucking rucking.

Have your radio tech/admin enable surveillance mode for the radio... it will disable the lights based on the channels you're using. Like that PTT.
The company should make those drag handles you should shoot an email to the company and make the suggestion

I still like true chemical glow sticks. We use a lot of these in CQB and room clearing. Each team guy would have 6 to 10 sticks per operation. The Nite-ez (sp?) light sticks wouldn’t be ideal in that situation. As they say, you mileage may vary!

The Motorola radios only light up the display if they are programmed to. They have numerous options that are easily changed.

It's a nice carrier set up/design. It looks like something a defunct company up here in Toronto (Rogue DSI) would manufacture if they were still in business. Curious question though, with it being used in a law enforcement environment, do you also wear a soft armour vest underneath it?

Ar500 makes carriers that will hold 11x14 and also check out Spartan Armor they also make carriers for 11x14. Both companies are based in Arizona. Quality, quality stuff.

What is that 556 duty ammo? I’m curious as to what police use. Looks like regular fmj.
I am a civilian but I watch cop and law inforcer dramas like NCIS, Chicago PD, NCIS...etc and reality investigation shows life foreignsic files, FBI files...etc. and even the news that law inforcers are sometimes killed but a shot on the chest. I don't know if you have the answers but logic will dictate us that these law inforcers (cops, FBI agents, The military...etc) must wear bulletproof vest or body armors always during thier duties for their protection but they don't. My question is why is it the case? Is it too expensive? Does it have limited manufacturers or availabilities? What could be the reason/s or factor/s of law inforcers not wearing a bulletproof vest or body armors always when in duty?

Dancing Panda Did some searching I was curious myself the mag pouches seem to be by eagle industries which that style is discontinued. After taking a look at there other mag pouches which do not look as good I am guessing they were sued maybe from the kydex design... Idk why else they would have stopped making them.

I don't see why you'd stop making a pouch that's such a sleek design unless someone else threatened to sue over it being too similar to theirs.

I did some more searching and actually found some for sale on ebay. I bought 2 of them. I also found out what kind of side plate pouches these are too from looking around. I will post a link below for both. So trying to replicate this rig would cost around $816.00 for carrier, cheap plates, side pouches, back pack and the two mag pouches.

Also, next time you switch it up try a Crye Precision JPC 2.0 or a mayflower or a London Bridge trading PC. Very very good companies. Most fit a 6x9 standard plate but goes up to 11.5

Where I can go for custom molle vest covers for soft body armor.
Unfortunately it’s not well advertised. That being said most companies that make “custom” carriers/covers use their soft armor inserts as well have odd features or designs that don’t work well.if they don’t have their armor, they will need your soft armor measurements.
In my area pretty much everyone wears Point Blank (newer models are leagues ahead of previous models) and BPS Tactical (small shop who outfits pretty much the entire state).
Best bet for a legit custom vest tailored to your needs find a local tailor that is willing to do it. Lead time should be diminished and you’ll be supporting local business. Good luck.
Looks like it would be tough to get the butt of your rifle into your shoulder pocket consistently with all the padding and buckles in that location.

Good review, the accessory straps should all be be bar tacked or box stitched to prevent the tearing of a strap, esp if you have a man down and attempt to drag him away, if the strap breaks then I guess you can say you tried to save his ass but failed due to some Chi Com Engineer not knowing how to fight and not building things bomb proof.
