  • Putting the hawk through some abuse at Walker Vally ORV park. The bike kept up with the name-brand bikes just fine and handled all the abuse I threw at it.

    i put a new mik. carb with 120 jet, cjopped the cat and took out the res, and it doubled the power instantly, i went 17 45 spockets ,gold x chain, oil cooler,led bulbs,bought it brand new 2020rps model, still ride it, no problems at all, worth the money, good excersize for my 2020 636 ninja, 👀👽🛸

    North Idaho here... We have the same bike, Nice. I took my radio off after a few rides. Found it to a battery killer.

      Hi! Thanks for the comment!!
      My battery is wired to a kill switch style switch so it’s only powered when in use!
      Sometimes the clocks can drain these battery’s.

    I love my 2019 Hawk 250 DLX. 700mi and going strong. Have mods on with the sprokets changed. Performance air filter. Gel battery. Windshield. Cicra Skid plate. On the highway it'll get up to 80mph. Uphill I can maintain 70mph. Yes I trust the digital Speedo because I've checked in speedzones. Some people have issues I guess but if it's set up right then you should have no problems. I have a Tusk tire pouch on front fender. And a regular Dickies brand fanny pack I put on the rear rack for tools. I take it up in the hills on Rocky terrain and it does well. Check it over before you ride make sure everything is tight. Maintenance regularly...oil changes, and valve check. For the price it's worth it. I recommend to anyone.

    It is funny that you find the hawk heavy. I would agree that the steel frame makes it heavier than a similar Japanese bike with a lighter aluminum frame but I personally compare my hawk 250 to my heavier VStrom 650XT and I find the hawk to be light, at least when I compare it to my other bike.

      It’s power to weight I suppose is the issue. I am pretty tall and the weight is pretty high with that large tank.
      On road you don’t notice it but on trails it feels heavy to me :)

    I have a 2016 model with under 6k with the suggested motocheez mods and it runs like a clock with light trail use and mostly grocery getter and if I could buy it now for what I paid for it delivered i would buy two more

    Dude you make me look like I’m good at riding. Litterally took my hawk 250 up the side of a mountain today with loose dirt and rock in between. You should almost always be standing when riding off road you get so much more control that way. Hawk 250 great bike highly recommend for anyone wanting cheap fun. Get the dlx save the headache of the carb and you got yourself a bike that’ll last years mines goes over 1k miles

    I have the 2021 hawk and have found it to be more than capable out here in the desert. The biggest downside for me is also I'm somewhat afraid to jump it also.

      @@SteverGarage I'm an old man so that's probably a good thing for me.
      I do all my riding alone so it may keep me from getting myself in a really bad position 🤣👍🍻

    I just ordered the x pro Hawk 250. Was wondering if these bikes are able to be registered for the highway in Oregon? Thanks

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The MCO comes saying motorcycle
      Should not have a problem
      I know Oregon does not allow converted motorcycles but this is a factory enduro so you should not have a problem :)

      @@SteverGarage i appreciate you taking the time to respond. Thank you. I’m looking forward to seeing how the bike is perform in both on and off road. I’ve had my share of name brand dirt bikes and no stranger to trail riding and had some fun on the street with my old Harley Davidson and a couple other street bikes. Not expecting the same results or anything. Expectations are low haha. But I sense sold all my bikes and wouldn’t you know it my 6 year old son asked for a dirt bike for Christmas. So we purchased a little Chinese 50. So I decided he’s going to need a ridding buddy lol. I appreciate the info. Great videos.

    So does the clutch hold up well to lots of slipping while riding a trail?

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      They do quite well. I find that in lots of slow rough trails when the bike starts to get really hot the clutch will like jump a bit
      But all in all pretty great. And keeping the oil fresh definitely keeps clutch and transmission operations working correct.

    The sprocket gear ratio between the Honda and the hawk or probably different as well which is going to give you a different outcome

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes and the Honda is a 6 speed which makes all the difference. Allows it to have a lower drive ratio but still have good top speed

      @@SteverGarage this is a good video though like you went over some good information that most people probably wouldn't think to and knowing that it weighs about 80 90 lb more is good to know. I'm an experienced writer I've been writing all my life and I am thinking about buying one of these used for cheap so we'll see how that goes I might even buy a brand new one that only has 55 miles on it that's used

    • @datvik7187
      @datvik7187 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JEHERETIC pick up a used one. Reason being a new one still comes with mediocre components. Might as well save your money and put it towards building a used one.

    acceleration wise, is this bike faster than a 125cc dirtbike?

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well it is a lot heavier then a 125 but has more power
      Very similar to a 200
      But if we’re just talking about acceleration I would say it’s probably quite close.
      Also, these bikes are geared a little bit taller than most 125 being it’s slightly Street orientated

  • @jonneet2126
    @jonneet2126 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    How tall are you? At 5'8" I'm afraid I'm too short for a stock Hawk.

    • @SteverGarage
      @SteverGarage  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am tall
      You can lower it a bit
      It is a bit heavy
      Magician is definitely shorter and lighter and just as capable
