Let's take a moment to praise Phoebe for handling a 1984 proton pack like a true future ghostbuster
Also praise the effects artists and the directing for having it visually shown she isn’t strong enough to operate it. She can’t control the beam properly and is constantly having to anchor herself because the blast is too strong, nice touch

The more I watch this movie. The more I appreciate the fact that ecto-1 is the main character. Its been through it all, and you can see the change and modifications its been through.
I love her buildup. The tease in the barn at night, the uncovering of the “shitbox”. The barley field was just her getting warmed up and this chase just shows she’s still got her reliable mobility. Even more now that all the driving shots in this and firehouse are mostly practical. I mean you wouldn’t look at the Ecto-1 and think “yeah I bet she could drift around a corner at about 50mph.”
As an auto mechanic I I have a knack for movie cars and ecto 1 was always on top of my list
For the car itself, but the icon that it is... it represents a generation who grew up watching the movie and series the sound the color all in
A car that is hard to duplicate as well
Ecto 1 always has a place in my car history as one most Iconic vehicles along the original 80s batmoblie.
I think its a common thing in some long running shows and movies. Time in that world may move on and the people may change or leave, but the vehicles will be around to connect all of it. The TARDIS, Millenium Falcon, USS Enterprise, The Mystery Machine, and Ecto-1. And many others.
I like how this movie showcased how powerful the proton pack is when not hitting its targets. Great force when hitting solid objects!
I love how when Jason was visualising the proton stream in use he just thought of the video game where it’s like a lasso you have to ensnare a ghost in and wrangle it down to trap it.
Guess you never saw the first movie? They cut the cleaning lady's cart in half and destroyed a hotel ballroom with those things. 😅
@bry2k I've seen all the movies. I'm happy they continued, visually, on how powerful the proton pack is.
McKenna Grace is such a brilliant young actress. She really lead this film’s cast.
Egon Spengler is the spirit of this film and Phoebe is the beating heart of it.
if they make more of these... i would watch it. kids can be the new ghost busters. a cameo can exist from either family of ghost busters as long as they made sense
I agree. On top of that, add new ghosts to the mix or new variations of old ghosts. Bing-Bang-Boom, you have another Ghostbusters movie people wanna see.
A sequel to Afterlife is coming out in March of next year, with the majority of the cast returning.

They did an awesome job with Phoebe Spengler. Normally I hate when kids have prominent roles like this in movies but she was badass.
Trevor, Phoebe, Podcast, and Lucky would make for amazing 2nd gen Ghostbusters.
in my unpopular opinion, I think they would’ve been the 3rd Gen; since the Extreme Ghostbusters were probably 2nd. Nonetheless, I agree. 🚫👻

See this, 2016, while not perfect; THIS is how you make a GB scene as action packed as it is comedic.
Instead 2016 was just political and dumb. Glad that everyone essentially got fired over it. They almost ruined the franchise, and this saved it. Me and my brother watched Ghostbusters constantly, and when we watched Afterlife, we had the time of our lives. He teared up at Egon returning.

Could one imagine if that gunners-seat was first introduced in the third Ghostbusters movie with the 'original' team??? With Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, & Harold Ramis (RIP). Bill Murray could have been included, but only in a small role. And either one or two new cast members would have been recruited to the Ghostbusters team.

5:38 i feel like i saw the first trapping of Slimer when that trap opened up what an amazing part
And the down pitched main theme at 4:57 (which for this film I’ve been calling it the “Spengler theme”) and the rise at 5:19 that sound like the original version but modernised adds to it.
Similar was to how it’s used at the beginning where Egon drifts around Spinners and the music is lacking and oomf and is just bare bones instruments and then later after they trap the gatekeeper and do the same route in the Ecto-1 all the instrument blare out and complete what was started

I had very low expectations for this movie because of the Melissa McCarthy disaster from the last movie but this one was very well written and acted out.
I gotta give Trevor credit for driving the car steady while his sister is trying to hold muncher close enough to let podcast trap it😊

My favorite parts. 1:31, 2:29, 2:40(I love the engine sound), 3:30, 3:42(I love the engine sound design here too) and 5:50(I like it when the door slams then Trevor hits the breaks).
Here's hoping he makes an appearance in the next movie...along with Slimer.

As awesome as the gunner seat is, it would’ve been cooler to see the Ghost Sniffer gun in action; somewhat like a hose on a fire truck 👻
The Ghost Sniffer isn't a gun. It's used for detecting P.K.E energy in the air.
@@JuliustheDemonicInkling Really? Because I always looked at it as a gun; from one of the deleted scenes were a traffic warden places a parking ticket on the hood, and the sniffer sets it a light. Also, you could blast ghosts whilst driving on DS.
@@reeganevans6707 Yes, but that was only for the video game. At first I thought the Ghost Sniffer was a proton turret, but I was wrong.
If you recall the Commodore 64 game, there was a vacuum you could install to scoop ghosts up that floated by as you drove to a call.

Look up Traxxas, they make more than a few. Just saw a Ford Raptor that'll do 60+ on their front page.
There are insanely fast RC cars out there, it's actually a fairly decent sized community of people into extremely fast RC cars and boats.
I really wish they turned on the lights and sirens.

I kept waiting for the kid driving to accidentally hit a switch during a turn and turning on the siren. Kinda disappointed it didn't happen.

Somewhere in the back of my mind they should’ve had ECTO-1A. (I’m aware of the fact they used the 1A from Sony Parking lot and stripped it to make ECTO-1,) but I think they also could’ve had ECTO-1B from the videogame.

I dont like they ignored the gb2 in this movie. He talks about marshmallow man only. They made the statue of liberty walk the streets of New York. Script is good in most ways but it has loop holes. I think people would remember such events even after 30 years. It's the proof of afterlife world would have change after those events.
They didn’t ignore Ghostbusters 2 in Afterlife. The toaster in the farmhouse is the one used for the slime, and Ray’s Occult bookshop is shown. Jason Reitman has stated that there are story elements in the pipeline which further connect the films, but those details are currently under wraps.

the entire chase is kinda pointless: earlier movies established that the proton beam works just like a rope, the ghost is attached to it and can't get away, one average man has the strengh to keep the ghost in place. the operator can manually adjust the beam length to pull the ghost closer, like wheeling in a fish. the moment she had the muncher they could have stopped the car and trap it with ease, instead of driving through town at 60 miles trying to position the RC trap underneath the ghost at speed...
But that would ruin the point of this scene.
In lore it's pointless but at the same it makes total sense.
Actually, this scene makes perfect sense. Remember that the OG Ghostbusters weren’t there to train them properly to use their equipment, so it’s reasonable that the kids wouldn’t know that they could do what you suggested. They are just figuring it out on the fly.
Maybe she didn't know about that, never having used one before, or really even seen it for very long before.
They’re using the equipment for the first time with no training on it. Why would they know all of this

Well, you gotta admit though, it’s definitely a bit better than the “WoMeN EmPoWeRmEnT” trope they went for in Ghostbusters: Answer The Call.

That’s why we’re getting so many movies and series with the same trope, like how you mentioned “Stranger Things”, for example. But i’d rather they did this, or even better, cool it with the sequels and reboots and actually come up with a fresh, new IP with original ideas.
