It was a really good rundown of my two favorite brothers/architects. Thank you for that.

Can you imagine the cost of replicating this, or any of their designs now?!!!! Their work is the pinnacle of beauty of design to my eyes! Lovely informative video. The history of their aesthetic makes it even more compelling!

Of all things they had a "Moving/Garage sale there back in the early 1980's or early 1990's and one was able to go in and look for things for sale. Was able to tour the house top to bottom then. It was a rare opportunity to see this masterpiece in person. I could not believe the level of detail that went into that house. I think just about everything visible was made specifically for that house from plumbing fixtures, hinges, heat registers, even the water heater was a work of art. As I understand a new owner removed many of the original fixtures to sell for vary high prices. They had reproductions made to replace the originals. I remember the Pasadena Historical folks really got on board to try and stop what was going on. I can;t remember the full outcome of their efforts.

I believe the "Head, Heart, Hand" at 1:05 is a Roycroft moto by Elbert Hubbard. If you like Arts and Crafts and have not yet looked into the Roycroft Campus (in my home town), I suggest you do. While I absolutely love Arts and Crafts, Craftsman Bungalows and all the aesthetics associated with the designs, and appreciate the craftsmanship that go into Greene and Greene designs, I have to say that Greene and Greene is not very pleasing to me. It's almost as if they took the ideas of Arts and Crafts/Craftsman (simple design focusing on sturdy, skillful craftsmanship) and thought it too plain so they added a little flourish here and a little cloud lift there and it just got away from them. Just my opinion
