The amount of goalkeepers casually hanging onto the ball as attackers charge them down these days is absolutely insane to me; just kick the ball as hard as you can if an attacker comes within 10 meters!
I agree. Maybe goalkeepers need to be given IQ tests before assigning them the task of playing out from the back. Sometimes, goalies make errors that make you wonder if they are mentally ill. Meret had several options and still didn't know what to do with the ball? Worst case, just kick it out!
@@txlonghorn638 Playing it safe is more important the closer you are to your own goal, and the players in that area are the ones whose main skills are in stopping the opposition from playing, so it really is a recipe for disaster to be passing it around in your own penalty area. I know they're trying to lure the other team to push up and leave gaps behind, but sometimes I wonder how it can be worth the risk...

Osimehn missing that one-on-one and the GK's mistake cost Napoli the win. Painful
He probably anticipated the GK to come out of his line, but GK knows so well that a loop or a well taken goal will be scored as the space will be more open, so I'll give more kudos to the GK and tell Osimhem to practice scoring from tight corners more.. the shot he also had on target was directly to the keeper, he has to also place precision to his shots not just power..
