    Old man here!....I began playing SimCity 4 in 2003 when I was 50. I had never played any kind of computer game before. It could be addictive and I played it a lot for at least 10 years, then stopped and recently picked it up again and I am 70, now. I love that it is a relatively slow game, and there is no violence or killing. It is kind of meditative,...the preprogramed music is interesting, though over the years I began editing them out. My favorite is the GOD mode,...laying down forests, creating rivers, and mountains, landscaping , & earth moving. At the time I began playing the game, I was an active member of my community, and that meant I had opportunities to shape and grow the community I lived in. I was tickled by how close the operation of the Sim City, paralleled my reality. The housing stock resembled my real neighborhood. Sometimes I would just get lost in the scenery, and lose touch with reality.

      a lot of the architecture ingame is either 1800s or 90s postmodernism, if you look online in places like simtropolis you may even be able to find real life local buildings.

    Greatest City Builder of all time. CitiesSkylines is so easy and not challenging at all after you learn it (still a great game). This game still challenges me 20 years later. Amazing soundtrack too.

    I sincerely think that you deserve a lot more subscribers because you really have the feeling of being a youtuber and I think I'm not the only one to feel it. The editing is quality on top of that and it makes for a great video. To come back to SimCity 4, it totally rocked my childhood and it was the first management game I had, but it will still be much better than SimCity 5.

      Think the first management game I played was SimCity 3000. My friend had for PC, though SimCity 4 was the first SimCity game I owned myself (for my parents money) 😂

    I know this video is several months old now. But if you come back to this, a few helpful tips:
    - Your city growth is limited somewhat by neighbourhood connections. Build a city next door and they’ll both do better.
    - Agriculture is basically decorative without mods and so isn’t really helping your city.
    - The reason you kept getting fires in the industrial area is because only the area covered by the ring is protected (same for all service buildings). Ideally you want the entire city covered in fire stations.
    - I know it’s a mod but you really need NAM, it includes some bug fixes and lots of extra transport tools, which make this game much easier.

      Thanks for the tips! Always helps. I'm still playing on and off when I have some free time between being an adult and making videos 😅
      I guess a lot has fallen out of memory over the years of not playing, or maybe just getting used to Cities Skylines 🤔
      Thanks for watching, hope you enjoyed the video, even with my mistakes 🙏

    The background music can drive you nuts. And some passages are not always played. There was one bit of music I didn't often hear, and I was pleased that I found it on You Tube recently, as a stand alone sound clip. It was a haunting number,...an odd mixture of old time sounds, that reminded me of a Funeral dirge and modern "trance" music, or house music.

    No road access is a bit of a glitch, but if it doesn't go away, it just means that the jobs are too far away for the people to go to. The no jobs will also go away if you make more connections to the industry and create more jobs.
    If you had put down a highschool in town and some small parks in the industry areas, you would have created high tech industry which also employes high wealth residents.

    SimCity 4 Deluxe Edition is an amazing city builder. In nowadays computer we need to use the SC4 Launcher to make the game works with mods and in 1080p (otherwise it will close suddenly). It made my childhood so much better lol

  • @Davett53
    @Davett53 ปีที่แล้ว

    My version of this game is formatted for MAC, and I think it has some limitations, not associated with the PC version. In the early years when I played it, there were all sorts of CHEATS,...or key configurations that awarded you endless amounts of money, & you never had to resort to taking out loans, and you also accessed prized properties, without having to build really successful cities. You could have an airport or amusement park, without having to have a certain amount of citizens. When my MAC was updated/upgraded, sometime along the way, I was blocked from accessing those CHEATS. I still play the game but it is slower going, and I am forced to keep a realistic spending budget. Bankruptcy and complete failure is a possibility.
