We had Pomelo tree(Batabi Lebu) in our ancestral home in Bhadreswar. My thakuma ( Amma) used to make salad , adding salt , chilli and rock salt( lebu makha). Today sitting in Ireland I am watching ur video and salivating . Your video wonderful. It actually quenches the thirst of craving different food.

I guess that part is so true for all of us. I learnt all the cooking and kitchen skills from my Maa. I couldn't have possibly verbalised it so simply the way Dr Banerjee did. Best thing about this video is the nervousness of the hosts.. Looks so natural and homely and contrasting to AB's confident dada figure.. I watched the entire episode with a smile in my face because of this overall feelings.. I could relate to it and connect with it from the very beginning when Insiya starts speaking with her messy hair which usually we used to see few years ago in our homes too.. now-a-days we are always so decked up and conscious about image building that this natural and homely atmosphere is lost from every program, household and person too.. loved it immensely.. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Having a Nobel laureate coming in itself was astronomical and then he brought in the entire socio-economic picture with politics and how food is involved in it - that was one of the most invigorated intellectual entertainment I've had anytime recently. I've to say this. Abhijit Banerjee's book is damn good. I just got a copy y'day and it's so refreshing to read. I also think it won't be too tough to cook from. I have tons of cookbooks, but this seems to be the best. His writing style is very easy to relate to. Most of his recipes seem easy to follow; the illustrations are wonderful.

Honestly speaking, I had no idea that the Nobel Laureate and Economist Mr. Abhijit Banerjee is also a stupendous chef. He has also published his cooking book named as" Cooking to Save your Life"- He is a gentleman in true sense and his humbleness and sense of humour is so appealing.
It is again proved, real knowledge is not boastful. Rather it makes people humble. What an impressive episode! I watched it till the end. " রান্নাঘরে কে? "🙂

Professor Abhijit Banerjee is a great cook indeed👌👌. Sustainable food is panta (pakhal) bhaat with Masoor dal fritters (a balanced diet for the poor families)...it justifies the concept of how to get more from the limited ingredients available in poor families. Professor Banerjee is absolutely correct when he says "I am pessimistic about our ability to predict" and also that discrimination part...that is so true..Words of Wisdom. Simplicity is the trademark of the genius afterall and so is Prof Banerjee.

This episode was so good! So nicely structured, and conversations so needed. The positivity Dr. Banerjee shows about India brings hope to people like us staying outside India who will always hear comments like, "Ki achhe deshe pherar moto?"
Finally, I had noticed some people write in the comments of your teaser," Address him as Nobel laureate economist... " and here he is asking you to call him Abhijitda😂. I have also seen a lot of his other interviews regarding this cookbook, where everyone is gushing because they are talking to a Nobel laureate. This video and its simplicity just shows him as a next door person, which feels so good. Keep making more such videos. More power to you!

Thank you for this wonderful episode. Spending even 5 minutes hearing to what wise people say in a coziest of a setup like this can be, and is enlightening. How the gentleman speaks, addresses, picks up issues gently and leaves them, reminisces and above all, mixes pure scientific observation into the art of cooking, is something to experience. I would have enjoyed one more hour of their interactions together for sure. Thanks again!

I keep coming back to this wonderful 'adda' constantly . What I really love is , even though the entire thing is in English, there are bits and pieces of Bangla in between , which just makes it feel like home. Lots of love, Bong Eats!
*a personal favourite moment - right at the end , when Saptarshi says "Chingri maach ta kintu darun hoyeche " , Dr Banerjee replies "Bhalo hoyeche ? Aye kheye bolte hobe kintu! "

Such a wholesome episode . Thoroughly enjoyed the conversations and the food , they complimented each other beautifully. Thanks for bringing us this . Another thing that I learnt today from Abhijit da is that I also mimic my maa's hand gestures while cooking. Nobel prize winner and everything still "khati bangali" at heart ❤️

    This is a COMPLETE man!
I marvel at his temperament. He really is special. He actually appears 'common' or more precisely is ordinary. Remarkable human being. Remarkable Bangali.

Dude what a lovely episode! Dr. Banerjee was just so natural & homely. Not an iota of ego of haughtiness & extremely warm & open. A beautifully crafted episode. Never in my life had I thought I would learn a prawn recipe from a Nobel laureate 😀. Pls make more episodes with Dr. Banerjee when he's available.

    Loved everything about this episode!!❤
I know the elders always say that we should not talk while we eat, but I've found in our family and also later in my university days having the most interesting and thought-provoking conversations at the dinner table while having food. Would love to see more such episodes where after the cooking is done, you guys engage the guests in interesting and informative conversations like this one. Such a cool format.
Also, thanks for this episode. Got to learn new things too. :))

Superb episode. Mr Abhijit is such a down to earth person. He is humane, humble, jovial and of course a great cook. Thanks Bong Eats for putting this together. Really feel privileged to witness such insightful and vivid discussion from non other than the noble laureate himself, not only on cooking but on so many other aspects of life and economy.

Ki bheeshon bhaalo laaglo episode taa. Every bit was wonderful, but I especially loved the last bit of the discussion. Particularly Dr. Banerjee's point about the fact that while economic justification for social justice causes might have more mass appeal and helps us "sell" an idea, I share his hesitation about using that justification instead of the moral reason for doing the right thing. I think about this almost every day in my own social justice work. Khuub bhaalo laaglo. Wish I could listen to this aaddaa for a couple hours. 💞 Also goes without saying, the food looked stunning!

One should still hesitate to make the economic argument because it crowds out the overwhelming moral argument.... I think one of the most important lines from the discussion.

Loved the composition of this video, I really liked how you chose to keep things like Cheyenne wiping of the drip, and the very Bengali way of ending a dinner where everyone needs to wash their hands. Waiting to see what's in store for the third episode.
