- Green Turtle Cay is one of the earliest settlements in Abaco.
We rented a golf cart and toured the island. There are beautiful beaches and quaint homes. The vegetation on the island is lush and colourful. Lots of pretty flowers.
The rebuilding process after Hurricane Dorian has shown the resilience and strength of the people on this cay.
The town of New Plymouth had cute houses, bars, cafes, restaurants, little grocery stores, and a hardware store. The supply boat came in while we were there and the locals arrived in their golf carts to get their supplies. It was a hub of activity.
We went to Miss Emilies for dinner. It is across the road from a playground where lots of kids were playing volleybal, basketball, riding bikes and scooters.
Some of the kids were fascinated with our dog Lucy and came over to say hello. One little girl wanted Lucy to wear her hat and have her photo taken with her.
It was a short drive from Donny’s Marina to Green Turtle Club and Bluff Houses. Both nice marina/resorts. We stopped at Seagrapes. It is a well stocked liquor and wine store. The people were very friendly.
Some nurse sharks came into the marina and toured around.
It was a great day.
