fuck son I mean you even got the under tones just wow. god it's just so good. the hidden parts that no one thinks about, the under belly that drives it it just hotdamn
Nailed it. Thriller's harmonies have subtle dissonant notes all through it. Very hard to play by ear. Your car horns were totally on point. It would sound "off" if they weren't.
He means that the original (SNES) had a VERY basic, VERY limited music composing scheme that looked like this, but what you see here is a revamped/improved version for PC. If memory serves me correctly, it didn't allow you to: 1. Use accidentals (sharps and flats, diatonically restricted to the key of C). 2. Could put at most 3 notes on any beat. 3. Only 3/4 and 4/4 time. 4. Only had something like 40 measures maximum 5. Quarter notes only. But it had all of the same sound effects. It was fun!
I used to have this game when i was a kid, maybe 10 or so. Im 34 now so im not sure the timeline of when i had this game. But ive tried making songs on that when i was a kid, but got so frustrated so i stopped lol. But nowadays, i am into softwares that you can make music on thats the same as this mario paint one. I know first hand how hard it is to make songs, especially songs like this one on a harder platform. I can tell this took probably a couple months to get it down perfectly like you did. Major kudos to you and im happy you got so many views on this to pay your bills. From the looks of all your videos, it looks like your living life comfortably. Youve made it my dude. Your crushing it. Something I can only dream about unfortunately. Thats good for you man. Take care and keep making cool songs.
The only thing that would make this song better than it already is, is if that guy who talks near the end of the song where to speak. That would be AWESOME 😎. Great video BTW. (I can only imagine how long it took to make this song on Mario paint).
I bet putting this song together on Mario Paint really makes you appreciate every detail that went into composing the actual song :P This is freakin' incredible
@Viperr101 it is multiple files that the program "Mario paint composer" stitches together. If you watch the scroll slider goes across several times. The current file is listed to the right of the "load song" button at the bottom. This is not done on the SNES unless you splice the sections together in a video editing program.
@juice42066 But then it wouldn't be as fun to make, listen to, or watch. Mario Paint Composer encourages musical creativity through technological limitations.
*Insert comment about: A) Asking for thumbs up B) Quoting the video you just saw C) X number of people didn't do Y, where X=quantity of dislikes, and Y=something involved or related to the video (Also: See B) D) Making a witty comment about how redundant and unimaginative other people's comments are. Oh shi-[/time paradox]* ..This was a nicely done piece and I admire the effort and dedication to both Nintendo and M. Jackson.
the cat would have made a great vocal for the "This is Thriller Thill the night" part.. over lay it on top of the car.. Try adding that in, I think it will make a world of difference!! I love this though!! Thumbs up for me
It was the music for NES and SNES that first inspired me to write my own music when I was a kid. Now I have a degree in music composition and am trying to start a career composing for films and games, but I miss the stripped down simplicity of the long lost 8bit sound world which inspired me when I was young. The craft and innovation required when working with so little is awe-inspiring. These days too many games use canned music which they simply license instead of employing a composer. Boo.
HOLY CRAP I JUST REALIZED MJ WAS STILL ALIVE WHEN THIS WAS MADE !!!!!!
And this took you _how_ long?
He was?
Actually you guys, there are some videos that say that Micheal Jackson could be still alive.

i think it is real amazing how this guy actually made a MJ song from a retro game sound so fucking Epic!!!!
Everything from Michael was Epic. Unless it was Motown.
Sega, already did it with their Micheal Jackson Moonwalker game on Sega Master System and Genesis.
Either way it went (whaaa I never played that game before! Huh.) It's still so fucking epic like, I know I am repeating myself but maaaad respect fr.
That feeling when TH-cam doesn't know which song this should be copyrighted to. :v

@koswin22 Every note was transcribed by ear. I just have a natural talent for it.
Color me impressed
well done

but you should consider it as a compliment. this is an amazing cover tbh

Michael Jackson was a great singer. He passed away on June the twenty fifth 2009 at the age of fifty.
As if we were not aware
***** Well, its pretty well known that he is dead, and when he died, so the comment was really unnecessary.
Not just merely a singer mind you, over all ENTERTAINER.
That's all right, sir!

@cisnerosdg Yes, there is. It's a simple three-step process:
1. Point
2. Click.
3. Repeat.
I really appreciate that you used the actual sounds in the game instead of importing your own. This is amazing! :)
AMAZING!!!! Geoff, you are my hero. (Assuming you made this! )
This is definitely one of the best songs made in MPC.
This is very well done. Thank you for putting in what would've amounted to a lot of work into something so enjoyable. Excellent
This is so awesome. I mean look at the time and effort put into this piece, it's so complex and sounds amazing. Great job.
Omg this is incredible ... this is the so ... I just get out of the bun stool ... And you have mixed yourself what pure is really great!
the shit. i've seen a lot of decent renditions on mario paint, but imo this is the best, at least among those i've heard. congratulations!
I am just in absolute awe at your skill - that's just incredible
i am so jealous of all the people who can make awesome songs on MPC!!
very good job! :D
holy shit i have 25 years old and i found this sh1t and i listened when i have maybe 10
This is awesome best cover on Mario Pain Composer yet!
@brackno This is in C# minor. Check out 0:00 -- the very first note for the bass (heart) is C#, and the organ (cars) plays a C# minor chord.
I came back to watch this again and realized with shock I was not subscribed to you. Needless to say that has been fixed.
there is literally nothing i can suggest to improve this, you did a goods ong justice
