      Don Rich loved Wynn but that steel player sucked on this song. Too cocky and smiled when he was screwing up the song.

      @@Carla-tz7qw LOL that's the first time I've ever seen anyone criticize steel guitar hall of famer Tom Brumley's pedal steel playing. He won the ACM award for top steel guitarist the year this video was made, and his solo on "Together Again" is widely considered on of the top 5 pedal steel solos of all time. No one is 100% on their game all the time, and the best thing you can do when you screw up on stage is smile and pretend you didn't. 🙂

    Both Don and Wynn died way too young...what talented human beings they were, and what joy they brought to all of us. Glad these videos have been posted...sure can't find any of this on today's radio.

      Tom Brumley could be the finest steel player to ever sit behind one. A perfectionist who loved real country music. Don Ulrich, just wow! Wynn Stewart was a highly under appreciated and forgotten talent of world class stature.

      Tom Brumley is the one steel player that fitted in perfectly with Buck's music .....and this is very close to Buck's style of song. A great hit and a classic Wynn Stewart country song .

      he was good enough to stay in Bucks band through all those hits. and my cousin knew him and the 2 were top level pedal steel guys. so I listen to Buck's hits and my pedal steel pro cousin's view... not yours

    This song was actually written by a man from Chincoteague , Va. He sold the song because he needed the money.
    This song has been no. 1 several times and the two of you sing it beautifully.

      I'm curious where you got that information. My grandpa wrote this song and lived in Canton, OH his entire life. He always talked about his song that made lots of money for other people. But maybe you have a different story about it or have heard a different version of events?

    My cousin was pals with Tom Brumley (both top level pedal steel guys) and told me "Brumley" was a natural and one of the very few best pedal steel guys in the business. You can hear why in this song.

    The pedal steel guitar is phenomenal. Each generation the skill level has waned. I am learning the basics of the instrument and these old players motivate me. It's sad that newer generations have lost all interest in the instrument in favor of flashy hooks. I'm from Indiana where many good players of the time had their roots. No museums nothing. And forget about Nashville, that's what killed it

    I was a little kid when this was a hit. I remember hearing it blaring from radios when we visited people. (my dad wouldn't allow GOOD music in the house--he would say, "I hate hillbilly music" and change it.)

    I was working at WKY-TV when this song was being recorded for the Buck Owens Ranch Show. I remember Wynn Stewart drove the sound man crazy by getting really close to the microphone. He threw his hands up into the air. The sound engineer was Gene Shouse. He passed away last year.
