Congratulations! What a great find, my friend! It cleaned up great and grilled some perfect-looking waffles! I know you are excited to have that in your collection!
Oh yes! It is still my new favorite. It is going to take a lot to unthrone that bugger. Did you get that tea kettle? If not, I’ve got one that may be looking for a good home.
I really appreciate the great restoration on the Wagner waffle iron. Making the waffles after was fantastic, most people I believe would put it away as a show piece. Have a great day.
I was way to excited to score this piece of iron. All anybody has to do is hint that they want waffles and running to get my iron. Thanks for watching...
ANTIQUE WAGNER WAFFLE IRON- Guess who got one of these today! Same exact one as yours. Unfortunately, there’s no base but I think I can fabricate something that’ll work. It’s in real good shape... nice seasoned surface. I had a feeling you had one of these! 👍🏻
This was a goal of mine, to own an old school waffle iron. You’re going to have a blast with it. I’ll fire it up and feed a crowd one waffle at a time.
@@TeachaMantoFish - I will try it on my gas range top in the morning... the grates are a couple inches away from the flame... for camping I think I have an idea too. I wish it had the base, but for $30.00 I couldn’t pass it up. I’ve been looking for several years and found some nice ones, but couldn’t justify spending $200.00 for waffles! 😂
How fantastic that you got ahold of one of these after looking for so long! Looks like it makes amazing waffles. The cleaning/restoration process was fun to watch.
my parents married in 1942 and bought one similar to that one, except the base ring on theirs is about 5" - 6" high. they took very good care of it, so it didnt need any restoration. i've had it for a few years now, and have used it several times... the waffles always release easily and are delicious - especially yeast waffles.
What an AWESOME video, thank you so much for posting! I recently acquired a 1921 griswold #8 in mint condition, for $125!! They just don’t make them like they used to..
Hello from our farm in New Hampshire. It took me two years to find the Griswold # 7 waffle iron of my dreams. Finally found a 1908 in VT in mint condirion. It has the cool coil spring handles. It had never been stripped. Someone had been used it over the decades, to a glossy perfection. I paid $113.00. It works so well on our 1930 kitchen wood stove. The Home Comfort took me a year to restore, so I was grateful for the pristine waffle iron! Mine looks similar to yours. If you have email, I can send you a photo. Thanks for the cooking tips and the great recipes. ~ Diane
@@TeachaMantoFish I saw a waffle maker at the Lodge Factory a couple weeks ago and started to get it. But I was on a budget and was shopping the factory seconds section. lol
On your e-tank, which is very nice I might add. Something that I use on mine is suspending the cast iron from a 3/4" copper pipe with holes drilled in it to hold long threaded hooks. Having the threads allow the hooks to be adjustable for depth. You could just wrap the wire around the pipe. This will allow you to clamp the charger to the end of the pipe to energize everything. I use stainless steel anodes in mine too. It's much easier to clean.
@@TeachaMantoFish This is what I like about TH-cam, when like minded people share ideas it makes us all better. I keep waiting to see someone post a video on "Which Wire Brush is Best to Clean Cast Iron". lol I know who would most likely post it. The boy's as lost as last year's Easter egg. Bless his heart :)
@@georgea6403 I've heard that from people who have never tried it. At the amperage we use (38 amps and less) it doesn't hurt anything. I've had leads spark right over the tank. I discovered something about cleaning anodes also. Hang a piece of metal where your skillet would go and change your leads. The performance of my tank depends on how clean my anodes are. I experimented with cleaning cast iron inside a bag that contained the mess kinda like a tea bag. A pillowcase seemed to be the best thing I've found. I zip tie a pool noodle around the opening of the pillowcase so all the sludge stays trapped. I hose the pillowcase out between pieces and the tank stays much cleaner. A paint mixer on a drill makes it easy to add the Laundry Booster. I clean for two estate sale companies plus myself so I really don't know how many hundred pieces that have been in the tank. I feel like I can say with confidence that this works. Good luck and enjoy the hobby.
Great video. Thank you! I have a cast iron waffle iron. I have made waffles for a while but my last waffle was a disaster. The batter stuck to the plates and I had a time to scrape off the waffle. Do I need to scrub it down and reseason the waffle iron or just add another coat of oil? Thanks!

Wagner and Griswold, both seem to be the HIGH END trophies out in the wild. I have never seen a LODGE one in the wild. Birmingham Stove and Range would be the ULTIMATE!

That is great story, and you are lucky to know the full history of it. Make certain the history follows along with it. Was it a Wagner Ware high base?
@@TeachaMantoFish it must be, because it's identical to yours in every way except the height of the base ring. even the engraving on top is identical.

I just found a griswold number 7. I also ordered a Apalachiclan iron waffle maker. It is a brand new version of this.
