It also means goods will be more plentiful, scarcity goes down, and the price of such goods goes down. We are basically reaching a nexus point of Capitalism that keeps 1% ultra rich but allows for the creation of cheap plentiful goods and services for the rest. Once 40% of market automation occurs, a universal basic income is most likely to be provided for people.

Computer animation and programming jobs will be the first jobs to go as AI will be infinitely more efficient than any human can be. Have you seen the fake human images AI has already made, they are indistinguishable from real photos. The most profitable jobs in the future will actually be the hand made industry. Everything will become so accessible and cheap because it can be made from robots, that luxury items will be the artisan hand made things. Such as pottery, quilts, soaps, etc.

Extrapolation leaves a few things out:
    1. Sales. Robots can dispense, but they cannot persuade and therefore sell. There will be a need for sales people.
    2. Construction workers. Construction sites are dirty, dangerous places which wreak havoc on machinery. The cost of maintaining and operating robots in such an environment is much higher than using migrant labor from low income countries. While there may be some automation, there won't be that much.
    3. Education. Demand here will rise, while technology is good for transferring knowledge, explaining things to individual students is something that still needs the human touch.
    4. Customer service. I think this one will boom! AI is not perfect and customer service bots often are poorly designed and leave people confused instead of satisfied. Human agents will be needed to calm people down, smooth ruffled feathers and solve the problems that the AI compounded. As automated systems increase, so will the problems and so will the opportunities for contact center agents.
    5. Lawyers. What do Americans do when someone screws up? They sue someone! High capacity AI means screw ups will be generated on an industrial scale! The owners of the robots will sue the manufacturers and the manufacturers will sue the subcontractors or the companies running the cloud infrastructure or the networks. Almost makes me wish I was studying law!
Bear in mind that in most countries, the birthday is declining, so populations will age, and then fall. Despite automation, there may still be demand for human labor where it is needed.

This video is an eye opener. I hope to God that when all the earths resources and wildlife are gone that humans will find a way to help eachother stay human with the soul skills of wisdom and compassion. This will prove impossible unless we severely limit AI to being our servants and not our inevitable masters. If you don't care what happens to the other 90% as they ( or we, ) proceed, you will have lost your humanity before AI is even fully implemented. At that point, the only option I see, is to create or join conscious communities that grow their own food, purify their own stored water, and form structures to ourselves human. Closer to the Amish, perhaps...

The fear of the economic elite is very valid. But there is no reason to fear robots. They are only tools. As for returning to basic agrarian lifestyle... That could possibly work for some but not everyone. Retreating into small groups will do nothing for the millions of people who live in the cities. That many people could never scatter into little villages. It's just not reasonable. We just need to find better ways to help each other to flourish rather than just the financial elite.

And the neat thing about being a prison-industrial complex worker (i.e. slave) is that you need absolutely NO skills. So no matter which industry you muster out of, you will always be qualified for this ever-expanding industry. I am the last of the baby boomers and I can retire at 62 while most of you will have to work until you die, if you can find a job!!! Neither money nor tech will keep you warm, put clothes on your back, or feed you when the lights go out. We have built an entire world on fossil fuels that will soon be gone. Look what happened to Ireland with mass child sexual abuse by clerics and the creation of concentration camps for single mothers in the recent past. Similar scandals are coming to light in Quebec and Australia among the Catholic populations in these areas. Financial scandals and infidelity seem to be common among certain religious groupings around the world. Toxic missapplication of religion is rampant around the world and needs to be policed and monitored very carefully.
