- What better way to spend our last day in LA then to be here at Galpin Speed Shop with Dave Shuten. Dave is widely recognized as an accomplished builder of historical custom restorations including some of Ed Roth's iconic cars. We're excited to get inspired by all the automotive history here and to see what Dave's currently working on behind the scenes.

What a great video of Dave's hot rod heaven! I've seen a few videos from there, but don't remember Dave giving a guided tour. Look forward to seeing him again in Detroit with the Uncertain T! Look forward to part 2, many minds will be blown.
Dave is a mix of genius and historian and artist all in one. He's a bit sarcastic but has earned his chops to be what ever he wants to be. He seems to be friends with many famous people and isn't shy about name dropping almost to nausiam. I'm just happy that Chad got the tour and the History about the culture he loves so much. Chad & Jolene, I have certainly been enjoying sharing a little of your vacation with you as I have not been anywhere myself in a number of years. I do miss watching your videos at your shop working on your cars and I also miss seeing Doug, Nate, & Fina. At the same time I am excited to come back tomorrow and see part 2 of this video.

Wow Wow Wow.....Galpin Speed Shop with Dave Shuten is a real trip down Hot Rod memory lane. It is guys like this that keep Hot Rodding alive.....he is definetly your people Chad and Jolene.
Great show! I love the cliff-hanger!!! Can't wait for tomorrow. I saw Fireball 500 there. I've met and visited with Frankie Avalon who drove that in the movie. Great to see it is being cared for.

Yup when your in those kinda shop's it's just so much to take in. When I was a young boy I would tag along with my uncle he would go to a lot of his friend's house and we would chill out in the garage and his friends would have the garage set up with a bunch of old stuff from the past. This was in the early 1970s. My uncle rebuilt Radiators he had a home shop. He to had a bunch of cools stuff.

I agree if someone can't afford a bunch of car's truck's. There are many many thing's one can collect related to car's or antiques. The way you sent it up to display it makes a big difference.
Wow, just wow....for all the first gen BMX kids in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK....this is like walking up Westgate Road to the dodgy motorbike shops, with greasy smoking dudes all around. We were twelve and BMX obsessed, skateboard had gone but freestyle BMX was it. One shop "Kawasaki Newcastle" felt the vibe, sold motorbikes but also a few BMX bikes (just like Dentons Cycles around the corner) but more importantly they had the cabinet. Behind the glass were CNC upgrades, Bullseye Cranks, annodised bits and pieces I still can see today in my mind. This guy could easily be one of our crew, I just wish his place was in our town😂
thats a great video. brings back all good memories of my 60's teens.. the model kits by barris is amazing i never knew he did that... TY Jolene for truly great pictures. i paused several times to look at both sets of model kits n i made a few of them in his collection too. As for Chad i ENJOY his Chatter ,far better than silence and musiic even tho its great music i prefer Chad Chatter..5 star stuff

That is a great shop if you took out all the cars it would still be so intetesting with all the pitures and signs and parts .But you have to have the guy that knows all the stories behind each part..

Dave, I know it's your Merc but don't custom that one, leave it. Spruce it up where needed that's it. There's plenty of these around that are not this intact that could be customized since you just need a shell to start with. I guarantee this one would get more looks at a show than a custom one. How many people have seen a stock 50 Merc? It's like a 41 Willys, I have never seen a stock restored one. I think there's only two. Just my suggestion, thanks for the tour.
