How to Reset Oil Change Light - 2009 Toyota Corolla

Every time you change the oil in a 2009 Toyota Corolla, you need to reset the engine maintenance mileage. If you fail to do this, the MAINT REQD light will come on. Following these steps will make the MAINT REQD light go away.

My maintenance required light is OFF, but I'm doing a test to see if what you say works. Does this work only when the check engine is ON? LIke I said my light is OFF, and when I follow your instructions, nothing happens. Is it because it's a Canadian model? I have a 2013 Corolla CE. I always got the oil changed by Toyota.

Thanks for watching. The odometer has no decimal point, but the trip meter does. The odometer shows that the car had only been driven a total of 27,260 miles since it was purchased new from the dealer. The trip meter actually read 4871.7 miles. The maintenance light comes on when the trip meter reaches 5000.0 miles. It's hard to see the decimal on the small screen of a cell phone, but if you look closely you'll see it is there.
