Ana Paula Vera Ayala 1.3 months and im almost back at the mullet stage 😤 ( i had it BUZZED , thats how fast my hair grows) all my friends make fun if my mullet but they know im growing it out ahaha
i’m a few days in, and although i got a longer pixie (due to a quarantine bleaching moment/fail, then using black dye over that bc my roots would grow so fast), my hair is for sure going to hit that weird mullet stage a month in, and i’m already dreading it 😂
Honestly I don't think you ever went through an ugly stage. I definitely wish I had your thick hair cause growing out a super fine pixie is hell hahaaaaa :/
Sarah Pender: Same! She looked so cute through all the "bad" stages. And Try growing out a pixie with naturally wavy, thick hair that constantly falls out like crazy lol I swear I shed hair more than my dog 😞
Sarah Pender Amen, Sarah.. A-men. 😳 My fine hair is in the 4th-5th month and trying not to use heat. I get these insane straight goofy-flippies jutting out the back and it’s driving me nuts... but I can do it... I think.
This is the most accurate video about growing out a pixie cut, I'm going through the nine months stage and I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel 🤣
Very helpful! I'm 14; only got the cut cause my hair was insanely damaged cause of stress, poor diet, heat damage etc. Since hair is such an important part of your image, it got me rly depressed, especially since I was insecure otherwise. Now I've had this cut for a year, I think it suits me well but I get mistaken for a guy a lot as I have quite a prominent jawline. And I've always wanted long hair. So from now on I'm growing it out, planning the stages. I'll update. Wish me luck xx
I’m growing out an asymmetric bob, bleached and purple highlights. I’ve had long hair most of my life and now, after all the edgy cuts, at age 66 I’m ready to settle in and grow it out all natural. When much younger women would ask me how I got my hair to grow bc their hair “just doesn’t grow”. I told them “The key to long hair is...(drum roll) don’t cut it!” Lol and it still is. Definitely cut the mullet but not another single hair. I graduated high school with hair down to my knees but of course from 1968-71 it was all about HAIR. Oh, I had the most outlandish hair in the 80’s. I see some 80’s fashion coming back and really really hate it. I hope this trend does not return. IMHO the 60’s had the best fashion since 1954.
I've tried to grow my hair out 3 times at this point. Everytime I was almost to a bob, I'd give in and go platinum and end up damaging it and have to start over. You are right on with saying it is almost impossible to grow it out bleached! This time I am about 5 months in on my natural hair. I've got the sides buzzed for the last time about a month ago. But I'm itching so bad to bleach it! Videos like this help and remind me the end goal will come and to not give in to the bleach!
I've been a bleach blonde the majority of my life... I GET IT! Go buy some fun new makeup colors and go bold in another direction. Do what you have to do to keep your look bold and fun however you can. You got this! Thanks for your feedback.
I know you love your long hair but you looked freakin' ADORABLE with that short hair in pretty much every stage. You totally have a face for short hair. 😊
Thank you Holli.....I'm a pixie cut now and I see all the layers and want to grow my hair out. Saving more money and not having to wait till the stylist is really to cut my hair. Loved you transformation and fortunately my fine hair grows fast and I may have only a one year wait for shoulder length hair. I loved being able bro put my hair up. I had hair pieces and it really helped me the last time I grew my hair out in 2012-2013.
A little tip for girls on the mullet stage: what did I do to grow my pixie cut was to cut that mullet and the hair is more next to neck, so the upper bangs can grow until you can have a bob haircut. My hair took over a year to reach that lenght even doing what I mention, so don't worry and go to the salon and explain what you want, you can grow a pixie cut even cutting it
Kim Scott girl me too. I decided to cut all my hair off into a pixie now i have a fohawk but a girl version super cute but i Cannot wait to have long thick beautiful natural colored hair after all the bleached part is cut off.
I'm at the four month stage growing mine out and I've already had my mullet cut off. I'm also growing out a very short under cut so the shaved side's are already even with everything else. Having thick hair that grows hella fast rocks. I have about four months till prom and I think I'll have a bob by then!
I have to say that it's ok to bleach/dye hair (blonde) and grow it out. If you only bleach/dye your roots it's totally fine. Just don't overdo it... don't dye it all the time! Better have it done once by a hairdresser, and then only touch up the roots.... it's better then dying your hair yourself and dying it to many times and then having to cut it.
I’m in the 1st month of growing my hair out for the 3rd time. This time, I’m prepared with a wig for the awkward bits lol. Drink lots of water, get your vitamins, and wait patiently!✌🏻
i have completely healthy bleached hair which is also in the process of growing out... and i’ve never had a problem with my hair growing. it all depends on how you care for your hair after or before bleaching it. i never use heat on my hair.
Girl finally someone who says it exactly how it is...Im very frustrated with my pixie cut I'm in month 3 with zero confidence wearing a beanie all the time:(....but again great job on the video ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I am so thankful I work in a hair salon. Cuts are free & colour is super cheap lol im trying to grow out my hair again but honestly im in no rush because im enjoying my hair even though its not quite a pixie lol
Heat protectant and stuff don’t work. Just don’t use heat on your hair. What have you been growing it out for if you’re gonna damage it all over again?
Thanks for this video! One of the better ones I’ve seen. The air-dried “mullet” stage is super cute and what I’m working toward at the moment. I plan to keep lots of layers and thinning it out quite a bit. Ultimate goal is short, shaggy bob.
I shaved the back of my neck during mullet stage. Absolutely cannot do small awkward ponytails, it itches the back of my head. Also, I absolutely love your short hair... I don’t know why but the long one dosent do you justice and blond makes you look cheap...please grow your natural color out!!great job girl!!!
I think the scalp massage tip actually would work to make it grow thicker and faster... I had a cast on my badly broken lower leg for 4 months in 2004. When I got the cast off, I freaking had to shave my lower leg EVERY day, or else I had coarse, abundant hair on it. The other leg was normal. TO THIS DAY - 13 years later - the broken leg's hair grows faster and thicker than the other (just a bit...not as exaggerated as before). And it's not like there's even a difference between my legs. I didn't have surgery, didn't need any pins or anything, and have even run lots of half-marathons and regularly do cartwheels, etc. So basically, it HAS to have been the pressure from the cast, since everything else is back to normal.
Actually, it's not due to the pressure - it's because your body was working hard to fix your broken bone by increasing the amounts of nutrients/hormones/etc in the area! My brother broke his wrist and had the same issue, and the doctor told him the reason why :P
Loved this video, really helpful and clear! I am trying to grow out my pixie, which I had for over a year (it was really really short at some point). I am in the stage 1 and I'd like to reach a bob lenght. As another girl said in a TH-cam video, I think am a short hair girl and I've actually never had very long hair. I am also doing the scalp massage since one month and a half and I hope it will be helpful for the hair growth.
Hi Holly, Yeah! I bleached my hair for years did a lot of damage to it... I'm found that when I used the product ion conditioner after bleaching it helped a lot. Made my hair looks so shiny and helped. I have not had my hair colored or bleached for years now at least 10 years. Good video thanks
"Give zero fucks" lol.... I'm in the 7 months grow out phase... grrrrrr! But like you said..... can finally see progress.. I refuse to cut off my mullet! Today is the first time I attempted some French braides.. and they worked!! Hallelujah!! Braids and Bobby pines will be my best friends for the next year. Thanks for the vlog hun... I needed it! (Ps.... I am using at home temp/semi perm hair color to keep the grey under control.... but lots of oil as well!)
currently growing out my hair from a pixie, and this was definitely helpful. im at about 3 months, and it's good to know that the frustration and insecurity about looking hideous/awkward is not just me. looking forward to that 15 month mark! also you managed to look great in all your stages. :)
Honestly my personal recommendations when growing out your pixie: A)Biotin vitamins. I use this and i made sure my doctor said it was okay. It works amazing but this is not going to grow my hair alone like its a vitamin not a miracle worker. B) i know this is gonna sound like ape poo crazy... but i actually cut my own hair at home. I use a razor, actual like hair barber scissors, 2 mirrors(one large and one hand mirror), hair clips and rubberbands, a big old tee shirt i dont care about anymore, a spray bottle full of water, hair oil, a pin tail or as I call it a rat tail comb/brush, a headband(mine is like that flexable one with the wire so it bends to the shape of your head,A1 for this type of stuff) and yes some like clippers(if possible, find someone you trust to help you cut it) I do this at my own risk, this is one of my recommendations and you dont have to follow it but it is something i am doing to help my hair grow out into a smooth bob. If you dont trust your self on this part, dont do it or practice on maybe some costume wigs like I did. 1.spray your whole head of hair wet, get your rat tail and slick it all the way to the back of your head and smooth it out til the wet hair is flat as possible to your hair (once and a while during all this, you might need to do this step over and over) then you have two options: Option 1 of Step 2:Once all the wet hair is slicked back smooth, witha and mirror to guide you through this process by using 1 hand and guiding it to see the back of your hair, use the larger mirror to see the hand held mirror and get the scissors or the clippers and trim towards the nape of the neck in a straight line. You should end up with a straight line up in the back of your head. Option 2 for step 2: the person you trust does the line up towards the nape of the neck for you(easiest one if you can find someone) Step 3:use the razor and clean up any stubble on the back of your neck Step 4:while hair is still damp, apply a thin layer of hair oil to the tips of your hair Done :) C. Invest in castor oil. It is by hair the best oil when it comes to thinning hair or growing out your hair.
I've had short pixie hair for a few years and I'm finally growing it out. I actually started growing it out a couple years ago but after having my baby my hair fell out like crazy and I had to cut it. I've gone through the struggle of hating the way it looks and wanting to bleach it and trim it to look cuter but your hair just does not grow out nicely at all. aside from trimming the neck mullet the best thing is to just leave it alone and find some cute hats! until it's long enough for a pony and then you have more and more options.
I am planning on starting this process when summer is over, and i'm not looking forward to it, because I have like 5 cowlicks everywhere that make things difficult.
I'm at 9 months and one day to be precise. Two days ago my mom chopped off my LAST mullet! When I straighten my hair, it's officially a short, layered bob. I'm sosososoososo happy! I've had short hair now for almost four years, and I can't wait for it to be long again. I used to bleach my hair on my own as a teen, but no more lol! I'm thinking about bleaching it at my 1 year mark, or around there somewhere. My hair is very healthy and strong, so it should be fine. I just really want my pastel purple hair back.
I got my pixie done about 8 months ago and I’m almost at a bob, i haven’t cut it once so it’s been tough, but I’m hoping to just grow it out long and it’ll have a layered look and i wont lose any length.
I totally get the long style pixies on course hair did work. I have course hair and I'm cringing the longer pixie but at the same time I'm excited I'm growing out my buzz cut. Your pixie cut looked great on you though.
B17 is great for hair & nail growth! Also great for your immune system. ;) I love that pic of you in the strawberry blonde short pixie! I think it was so cute and sassy!
wow I just realised by watching this video (VERY NICE, PROFESSIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL VIDEO HEHE) that my hair is pretty long right now and i'm HELLA ULTIMATE GROWNER HAHA I'm at stage V growing it out since i'm doing it 7-8 months lols and i shaved pretty much all my head except my bangs cut on the side
Would you say having curly hair makes the growing out process easier? What products would you suggest for scrunching? I’m debating cutting it again because it’s awful! I’m in the 1-3mo. It’s asymmetrical with an undercut so I feel much worse about it lol
Growing out my pixie! I am in month 3 and it is an awkward mullet hahaha! I have had a pixie since my junior year of high school. So about 3 years now. I loved this video and cant wait to get my long hair back!
Yeah I’m at the bob stage.. it’s way more manageable and I can do stuff with my hair. But on late nights like this I find myself considering cutting my hair again
growing out my hair now, haven't had long hair since grade 5, im 20 now and i miss it. im at an alright stage, at the point where is falls in my mouth when i eat which is not fun!! getting used to that lol
I’m at the ugly short mullet stage now. It’s at ear length and now kinda past my neck tattoo at the back. But I’m not getting a trim till the one year mark in February, if I decide to anyway. But I shaved my head completely. I can’t wait till it’s long again. My idol has the nicest hair and I envy her right now lol. But I feel that my short hair makes me look 10 years older so I won’t cut it short again. :( I have hair envy. I only cut mine 1-2 times a year if that. I take hair vitamins and use HG shampoo and conditioner. Right now it’s growing rapidly fast, Bondi boost.
I'm curious how often you got trims past the 16 month mark? Especially after dying it again? Or did you just let it grow without too much maintenance for the last two years? Thanks for the video!
Thank you for watching! I got maybe 2 or 3 "real" haircuts with an inch cut off, otherwise I would do baby trims in between by yours truly. I only had to get haircuts because I colored my hair a lot so my hair would be longer had I not colored my hair so many times. I'd recommend no color on the ends and maybe 1 trim per year, but if you are coloring your ends then more haircuts will be necessary.
My hair is bleached white and I've been managing to grow my hair out pretty successfully so far (I'm on month 3) so I definitely wouldn't rule it out - though I will admit I have naturally dark blonde, fine hair and bleach doesn't take very much time to develop on it.
I currently have a short (long on top) pixie. I had a half shaved/half long bob before and one day...like many other times before in my life (3) I got my clippers and went to town...I really hate that im like that. But anyways, I got it professionally fixed and had a 1in clipper all around and long bob/top kinda thing going on. So it’s been a month and I already have horrible bead head most days and just trimmed the top to get the bottom to catch up so I don’t go through the mullet stage...I hate it! I can personally say that if you don’t really think about it and aren’t stuck on your hair growing taking long you’ll look back and have long hair again. I hate that when it’s just to a certain length and you cut it again...don’t do it! Unless you want to, cause of course it’ll grow back.
Long hair suits women best..Short hair for men. I just cut mine all off not because I wanted to but It was hard to get a good hair cut anyways never mind someone who had a mask on. There were too many layers in my hair and it just looked a mess. I want my length back all one length and then a few layers. Nothing as much as it was. I couldn't get it up in a ponytail, it was a mess one bad hair cut after another..starting over seemed just to be best..
Olive oil seems to work well for coarse hair, but on fine hair it’s not nice. Coconut oil is kind of nice. But argon oil has worked best for my very fine hair.
I have white hair, have you ever heard of this? I am so old and yet I think a messy bun “not high” will look good….. thoughts? I had a pixie cut for many years and just tired of it.
i just read your blog post a couple of days ago and i found this video and got so excited X'D its like finding a celebrity
that's awesome!!!!

I CAME ON THIS VIDEO TO SEE HOW TO GROW MY HAIR OUT BUT I SAW THE PICTURES OF EMMA WATSON AND NOW I WANNA CUT MINE SHORTER AGAIN UGHHH
Same!
I don't know if it's just me, but I'm honestly fine with the mullet stage. It has a very unique look.
soo do I , i love it. I am not a fan from a bob
Honestly I don't think you ever went through an ugly stage. I definitely wish I had your thick hair cause growing out a super fine pixie is hell hahaaaaa :/

Growing out my to-the-scalp buzzcut is a wild time. I was excited just to get to pixie! Can do a ponytail after like a year.
This is the most accurate video about growing out a pixie cut, I'm going through the nine months stage and I'm finally starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel 🤣
I'm glad you liked it! and GET IT GIRL you're so close!!!!!
I’m at 14 months and I wish my hair was that long! :( mine is not even shoulder length.
definitely the most accurate/honest video about growing out a pixie
This mullet stage is making me regret ever dying my hair. That killed my hair and that's why I have a mullet now. Damn you, Bleach.
Great video! Those small clips and ponytail holders will be my best friend. I've had a pixie for about 25 years and it's time. 😊
Good luck!!! You got this!

1.spray your whole head of hair wet, get your rat tail and slick it all the way to the back of your head and smooth it out til the wet hair is flat as possible to your hair (once and a while during all this, you might need to do this step over and over) then you have two options:
Option 1 of Step 2:Once all the wet hair is slicked back smooth, witha and mirror to guide you through this process by using 1 hand and guiding it to see the back of your hair, use the larger mirror to see the hand held mirror and get the scissors or the clippers and trim towards the nape of the neck in a straight line. You should end up with a straight line up in the back of your head.
Option 2 for step 2: the person you trust does the line up towards the nape of the neck for you(easiest one if you can find someone)
Step 3:use the razor and clean up any stubble on the back of your neck
Step 4:while hair is still damp, apply a thin layer of hair oil to the tips of your hair
Done :)
C. Invest in castor oil. It is by hair the best oil when it comes to thinning hair or growing out your hair.
UHHH THE MOLET STAGE AKA THE DUCK TAIL 😢😢
so true...
I'm there as well. Hate it.
ruben egg JUST CUT THE DUCK TAIL
I think you didn’t have ugly stage at all very cute in every pic. Thanks for video. I have the same type of hair
I think you look best with the shorter hair :)
You look really good with the short pixie
Your hair looks so amazing with your bone structure when it’s in a bob
I totally get the long style pixies on course hair did work. I have course hair and I'm cringing the longer pixie but at the same time I'm excited I'm growing out my buzz cut. Your pixie cut looked great on you though.
B17 is great for hair & nail growth! Also great for your immune system. ;) I love that pic of you in the strawberry blonde short pixie! I think it was so cute and sassy!
the pixie was classy, sassy, beautiful but this long hair is just plain ole plain.....blah....
wow I just realised by watching this video (VERY NICE, PROFESSIONAL AND EDUCATIONAL VIDEO HEHE) that my hair is pretty long right now and i'm HELLA ULTIMATE GROWNER HAHA I'm at stage V growing it out since i'm doing it 7-8 months lols and i shaved pretty much all my head except my bangs cut on the side
I love that moment when you realize how far you've come... congrats!

All your styles were amazingly beautiful!
That cat needs a video on his haircut.
great and honest grow out tips. Pixies are awesome...until they are not!
Oh wow! I love it short!
My hair growth is insane. I went from buzzer cut to clavi length in 16 months
You suit the short hairstyles. I love your pink lipstick what is it? Dying to know!!
So, I got my hair cut on August 30 and It's been a full month, and honestly, I'm so ready for having medium hair lol
I have hair envy. I only cut mine 1-2 times a year if that. I take hair vitamins and use HG shampoo and conditioner. Right now it’s growing rapidly fast, Bondi boost.
Congrats on your beautiful hair, AND cat, of course!
Adorable with the pixie.
Once i hear that song (ITS EVERYWHERE) i back out...good thing it ended and didn't play throughout the whole video
How long did it take for your pixie to grow out to that length? You look really really nice in that pixie.
Your cat is so freaking cute
im watching this video while im bleaching my pixie cut that im trying to grow out 😫😬😬
I was growing my hair. I got to the mullet point and then got frustrated and cut it all off...I wish I never did that...
You should cut the mullet off. I do it monthly when growing my hair out.
Oml im so so glad my hair grows fast
You remind me so much of Dakota Johnson with this long hair for some reason. Go you!
Girl you never went through an ugly hair phase😍
My pixie is hating it, with a rat tail or something going on 😩😅
Did anybody like the long pixie the best on her?
You are a sweetheart and sound very smart!!🙏
Yoooo this came up on my suggested hair styling haha.
Long hair suits you best! 😍
Short hair totally suits you!!
8:04 this pic is so gorgeous
Thank you!
Oh man lip color???
I want to buy it, what is it?
Olive oil seems to work well for coarse hair, but on fine hair it’s not nice. Coconut oil is kind of nice. But argon oil has worked best for my very fine hair.
Wow, wow, wow! It looks very lovely long.
I have white hair, have you ever heard of this? I am so old and yet I think a messy bun “not high” will look good….. thoughts? I had a pixie cut for many years and just tired of it.
Love a messy bun!
