    Without death, there is no life. Without life, there is no death.
    I remember when I read the Tao Te Ching many years ago that Lao Tzu talked about how most people were either afraid of death or afraid of life. And only a minority of people were wise enough to simply enjoy the dance of existence, with no fear of living or dying.

      Like yin and Yang.

    • @supdawgtt94
      @supdawgtt94 3 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      More accurately, it isn't that one does not exist without the other. It is that they both always existed (thus the infinite circle that both Yin and Yang are a part of), but you see them as one OR the other (2 opposite halves) rather than one AND the other (one whole with 2 or more characteristics). The left can only be CALLED "left" because you call something else "right".

    • @eklektikTubb
      @eklektikTubb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      That "one cannot exist without the other" is the most controversial part. It seems to me like just an illusion. For example, we could say that there are no shadows without light, no shadows in darkness, but shadow itself is a piece of darkness. True, if we dont see any shadows darkness everywhere is indistinguishable from darkness nowhere, but ... even if we cannot see the difference, the fact is that there IS a difference.

    The ignorance of Yin and Yang is that they are opposed.
    When one sees that Yin and Yang are complimentary, this is the first level of understanding.
    When one sees that Yin and Yang are identical, this is what is known as one who has ascended past the first level of understanding and reached the edge of reality.
    To see that Yin and Yang are interchangeable is to go even further beyond.
    At any time, White can become Black, Black can become White, hope can become despair and despair can become hope. Just as if you travel far enough east you arrive in the west.
    Jiren can become Goku.

      @@wingate87zero25 I see you have not understood, insinuating that knowledge of the Tao is nonsense.
      You are correct.
      However, it is only nonsense from the perspective of conventional thinking; the way we interpret the world using concepts that divide things from each other, thus creating the perception of a contrast.
      You try to speak outside convention in derision of a sage, but even the form of nonsense you attempt to put on is only what nonsense looks like according to pre-conceived notions I.E convention. True nonsense is sound an fury that signifies not nothing but no *thing.*
      Next time, try to say something paradoxical. At least then your ridicule will have a passing resemblance to what it is trying to denigrate.
      Perhaps this excerpt from Chaung Tzu will help shed some light on this point:
      --
      Chu Chio Tzu asked Chang Wu Tzu,
      "I have heard from the Master
      that the sage does not labor at anything,
      does not look for advantage,
      does not act benevolently,
      does not harm,
      does not pursue the Tao;
      He speaks without speaking,
      and does not speak when he speaks,
      and looks beyond the confines of this dusty world.
      "The Master sees all this as an endless stream of words, but to me they are like the words of the mysterious Tao. Master, what do you think?"
      Chang Wu Tzu said, "Such a thing as this would have confused the god of knowledge himself, so how could any old wise man like Confucius be able to understand them! However you are getting ahead of yourself, counting the chickens before your eggs have hatched and looking at your bowl, imagining the roasted fowl. I will try to speak to you in a random way, so you listen to me likewise. How can the wise one sit beside the sun and moon and embrace the universe? Because he brings all things together in harmony, he rejects difference and confusion and ignores status and power. While ordinary people rush busily around, the sage seems stupid and ignorant, but to him all life is one and united. All life is simply what it is and all appear to him to be doing what they rightly should."

      Yin and Yang is simply dualistic view of reality or not? It exists in our minds. Is a black hole just passively in place waiting for matter and light to be trapped there or is it pulling it inside by its force? Is the flower there just waiting to be polinated or is it releasing smells and attracts bees by its color? Why is woman yin and not yang? Isn't it just a reflection of our traditional gender roles? Yin and yang exist only inside our minds.

    Yin & Yang is a symbol demonstrating that nothing in nature is absolute or pure. In general, when it is applied to human behaviour, Yin & Yang can be interpreted as " NO human can be 100% BAD or to be 100% GOOD " in every black-hearted person you can find a spot of shinning goodness and vice versa. Indeed a very powerful & meaningful symbol.

      Western satanism depicts their goat headed god Baphomet with both male and female sexual characteristics. They do this in order to mock God by reversing His natural order. Satanists are very predictable. Very similar yin-yang conflicts in various religions aka God vs Satan. These religious depictions reflect the yin-yang conflict within each of us, and try to teach us how to resolve the conflict by accepting it in order to instill peace within, which we all are ultimately searching for. This video has good passages, yet others are misinterpretations. Western culture has focused on the binary aspect of ying and yang, whereas the real importance of it lies in the balance and the reciprocity. You shouldn't think you're good cause there's a drug dealer around the corner who's bad, but rather think that both you and the dealer nest goodness and badness, and is depending on your actions and on the circumstances that those characteristics manifests themselves.

    The Yin and Yang symbol can help you recognize if you see things in unity or in separation. If you see Yin and Yang as 2 halves, then you do not see the connection between them and will view the world as separated and against itself. If you see Yin and Yang as a circle with 2 parts, then you can see there is unity in everything, even those you call good and bad. Thus the philosophy of life is "I am separate from the world, and the world is for or against me" or "I am the world and it nurtures me through experiencing both preference (good) and non-preference (bad)". The inner circle within one half represents that even in the half, there is unity that can break down to parts. So the "good" half can be broken down into other parts that represent the "good". It doesn't just mean that there is the opposite side within this side. It is an infinite traversal within the self, where the self is the circle and within the half, is another circle which represent the same Yin/Yang circle that contains it.

    I remember this one episode of Doraemon where Nobita cried and exclaimed that he was the bottom of the class so no one would have to as he tried to validate why he didn't study and got zeros.
    It stuck with me as I went to become one of the bottoms of the class through out secondary school. It was a long and very negative period of my life, but I worked to get out of the situation and once I got into highschoop I found myself ever only wishing for a peaceful life, no need to be the best or special but simply focus on being the best I can. Rankings no longer matter to me, and as I only work on myself I found I was slowly moving forward.
    I've always been grateful I hit the first rock bottom of my life as of yet then, because since then I knew to appeciate life more as living normally, average still feels like a dream come true for me compared to those dark days.

      Right exactly. I think that's why fully understanding these concepts is so important though. to truly understand yin and yang is to understand that yin is yang and yang is yin. That's why the heart of each one is that of the opposite. The problem is that our minds polarize twards one side. We prefer good over evil, love over hate, order over chaos. So before these concepts can be unified within ourselves we have to understand how important what we oppose is to what we prefer and vise versa.

    "I'm such a good person"
    No matter how accurately I understand Yin and Yang, as long as I'm identifying with this wave form in the ocean (the person), I'm stuck in the patterns of Maya (the Matrix)...Instead one can know the true self behind this image...beyond time, space, and causality... the pure formless consciousness, and then have the experience of life to the maximum potential.
    First realizes the duality and the 0/1 of everything... and then decodes the code to see that both sides give birth to each other.

    Something interesting about this concept is that it’s not actually called Yin & Yang. More technically, it’s referred to as YinYang - one word. This cements the inseparability of the two, as the truth is that they are not two things at all, but one single entity with two faces

    First let me say I adore the music you chose for this video. Also may I add that in addition to looking in the mirror and seeing yourself as a “good person”, remove the ego altogether. We are just people. When someone says something to you that stings, accept it. Even thank them for it. Now those become your words. They cannot “take it back”. Let yourself feel the sting, feel every bit of it. It will not last long if you tell yourself this: for every bad, there will be good, and when I hear good, I will relish in that and taste it for all its wonderfulness. Then when someone does say something nice to you…feel it just as deeply and profoundly as you felt the bad. When you begin to do this, first you remove any power they held over you because you’ve removed the ego. And most important, when you say thank you and walk away, you invite in sooooo much good you will find yourself wondering what ever happened to the bad? I rarely taste it anymore. When I learned to do this, it changed my life. No o ne riles me

    For a long time in my life I was Yin. Negative, Quiet, Hopeless, Sad, relatively inactive, did not enjoy Winter.
    But something changed for me, and now I'm more Yang. Inspired, Positive, Loud, Social, and Happy. Now I fear the heat of Summer being too hot.
    It's very very interesting how now I have to force myself to relax, instead of force myself to do something. But it's the Balance that comes from the small opposite dot that makes me the most satisfied with my life.

    I think a good point that should also be made is; because we are the embodiments of both yin and yang, we will therefore always be standing in the middle of these "opposing" forces. If your tall there will always be someone who is taller and if your short there will always be someone shorter. I think this is why on an individual level we all somewhat feel like the center of the universe.

      Achei por um acaso num sebo o livro Ecologia e Política à luz do TAO, (ainda estou nas 80 e tantas das cerca de 500pgs) nele Ernesto Bono trás na íntregra o Tao Tse Tching e outros textos de Taoístas, traduzidos de forma que me parece extremamente cuidadosa e ao máximo fiel à mensagem que Laotsé quis passar, com “comentários” do autor que ajudam a esclarecer as metáforas e analogias. É um livro que (até onde li) é interessantíssimo, recomendo demais demais pra quem tem interesse em estudar o taoismo na sua forma mais crua, até por que, em congruência com alguns comentários desse vídeo, algumas ideias nele apresentadas podem não estar tão alinhadas com o pensamento taoísta, mas eu também não conheço tão a fundo pra afirmar com categoria, é uma ótima leitura pra tirar suas próprias conclusões quanto à isso e muitas outras coisas
