This song was #1 on my birthday in the UK, so I love it. That, and because it's a spectacular song. That, and because the Marcels were the first integrated group to have a #1 Billboard record. That, and because all five members are from my home town. They seem to have wangled the sketchiest recording deal of all time, took the train to New York, then had to walk through the snow to the studio because there was a transit strike. Five kids from Oliver High School in Pittsburgh had one hour on the sly, since the guy who'd made a deal with them wasn't actually allowed to book studio time. They had five minutes left after doing all the songs they planned to do. There was only one song they could sing, because it was the only other one they all knew. They hadn't planned to do it because they thought it was too goofy. It's amazing how often great songs have stories like that. Goes to show you aren't always the best judge of your own material.
This song should be banned from TH-cam for Good, because the first time I heard Blue Moon The Marcels first hit Recording I never did like this song at all beacuse I didn’t like the parts when The Marcels go AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAhhhhhhhh
It doesn’t get any better than that! So many great memories of that era. Words you could hear, no foul language. Could listen to oldies all day!
Memories of my high school days. This record was a MONSTER on NY radio.
Music unites people ❤
