Up to the mid 70's, most bands played with a standard rhythm section of Bass and Drums. In the mid 74 Gino Vanelli released Powerful People which had no bass and used keyboards to replicate the sound which was unique at the time. In 78 Gary Wright released this album with the same format. You definitely should check out People Gotta Move by Gino. Fantastic song that set the template for many bands in the future.

Ahhhhhh YES......another time traveling GEM!!! I feel like a child again....LOL!! Laying in the back dash of my dad's 1970 Mercury Marquis....tunes like this coming from the radio....counting stars as we traveled back home on a Sunday night from my grandma's house. That car was black as the ace of spades and we called it the Batmobile...LOL!! Back then...we fought over the back dash...we were small enough to lay comfortably and look through the back windshield....and no cops even looked twice. The good ole days....jammin to some good tunes.

Dream Weaver, one of my all time favorites! I used to go watch a traveling keyboard musician when I was in high school in the mid 70s, he played in a local lounge. He played Dream Weaver as part of his act and it sounded exactly like the record! I loved it! And strangely enough a few years later I moved to another state, and some years later in the mid 80s I ran into him playing in a lounge! So of course I asked him to play it, and he did. What a nice guy. Hello out there to Dave the Starduster, where ever you are!

Used to lay in bed at night after going to bed listening to WLS 890 The Big 89 out of Chicago over 500 miles away. Pop music like this, Elton John, hard rock like Zep, Aerosmith, Foghat, Southern rock like Skynyrd, Allman Brothers, throw in some funk and disco all on one station! Great great time to be alive.
