“Is there a special meaning to the title?” you ask. James explains it best: “72 seasons. The first 18 years of our lives that form our true or false selves. The concept that we were told ‘who we are’ by our parents. A possible pigeonholing around what kind of personality we are. I think the most interesting part of this is the continued study of those core beliefs and how it affects our perception of the world today. Much of our adult experience is reenactment or reaction to these childhood experiences. Prisoners of childhood or breaking free of those bondages we carry.”
I think it is a reflection of his early years that he suffered through, his dad bailing on them and his mothers cancer battle. He has been through alot.
Despite of lots of criticism I love last two singles! Darkness had a son has creepy riffs and it’s very powerful song with great lyrics in my opinion. Now this 72 seasons is fast and furious! James vocal is incredible! 72 seasons is giving me a vibes that rest of the album would be solid. And one more thing! You are incredibly beautiful! And I love your reviews 😍🔥🤘
"72 Seasons came out of a book I was reading about childhood, basically, and sorting out childhood as an adult. And 72 seasons is basically the first 18 years of your life. How do you evolve and grow and mature and develop your own ideas and identity of self after those first 72 seasons? "Some things are more difficult than others - you know, some things you can't unsee and they're with you for the rest of your life, and other things you're able to rewind the tape and make a new tape in your life. So that's the real interesting part for me, is how you're able to address those situations as an adult and mature." - James Hetfield about the inspiration and meaning of "72 seasons".
Great review, I was just going to add that Metallica has always had long intros since the early days. I love that they let the music do most of the talking even though James is an incredible singer 🤘🏽😊🤘🏽
Nice reaction, this is the best song of 4 they released. Metallica is my favourite band since 1992 and I think we should be very satisfied how this sound, I mean they are in their 60s. I heard this album doesn't have ballads, classic rock magazine told inamorata is best song on the album but we ll wait and see. They gave 8/10 for the album. Looking forward for new album, you gave great reaction as always 🤟😀
If you watch Inamorata, watch the animated version. It really enhances the song in such a way that will leave you like...Damn that is good. Hint...KTULU is in the video. You gotta watch it its so epic.
I definitely agree that more recent metallica is getting a bit repetitive/too long, but this track is decent and definitely my favorite of the singles they've released so far.
People with short attention spans should learn patience. I don't appreciate people with short attention spans, AT ALL! Why are vocals so predominantly important nowadays anyways? Some people should research Bach and Mozart.

Definitely got that Metallica sound and yes it’s definitely repetitive but overall it’s pretty good can’t wait to hear the album in full To hear how these songs flow together You definitely had some fan girl moments during this 🤘🤘🤘
People dont have patience these days. this is classic old school Metallica songwriting ala Disposable Heroes. wanna hear short songs, you have crossover thrash.
I think there stuck in a solar flare in the video☀️The new album is gonna be💯🔥🚒👿🎸💪 This is a long song its amazing there has to be some repetitiveness in a long ass song. I notice in lot Metallica music there vocals n guitars are so loud they literally drown out the bass doesn't matter who is on bass
It’s your first 18 years of life 18×4 seasons equals 72 seasons so basically the first 18 years of your life make up the true or false version of yourself whatever you are going to be in whatever you’re not gonna be
To me again it's just the same Generic Sounding Metallica we have today and I get it , this is their style they are comfortable with. I just wish they would change the Guitar Tone to a Sound like Orbit Culture even Carcass...but that's just my Opinion. I don't hate it but at the same time I feel you could put this on the Death Magnetic Album...I also feel there is too much Filler here, could have been 2-3 minutes shorter...but again just my Opinion
i thought that there is a great, or even incredible song lost in this bloated song. it has a great and catchy melody. the production and performances are surprisingly enough, great across the board. i enjoyed it but they could use a trimmer once in a while proven by lux aeterna, one of their shortest song ever, and also one of my favorites by them.
I'm going to strongly disagree and say that the song is just fine the way it is. Especially for the story that James is telling on this track. Also, the song has a really great production and sound.
@@TokusatsuGamingfan i agree that the sound, production and performances are all great. but my issue with the track is that it just doesnt need to be 7 minutes long, the verses are pretty lifeless and the fast parts come and go within a matter of seconds. it would be a fantastic track if it was trimmed, by alot. remove atleast 90 seconds off of it and it'd be great. for now tho, its just good.
@@alexanderkleist1127 Again, I think that it does need to be that long because of the story that James is telling with the lyrics. The verses aren't lifeless, and the fast parts serve a purpose in the song even though they aren't the main focus of the song.
@@TokusatsuGamingfan While also being the title song of the album and as most metalheads know on most albums the title tracks tend to be long as they are the grand finale or cherry on top for the existence of that said album!
if you ask me, the whole thing boils down to how first 18 years affect the rest of your life. your feelings, habits, fears, traumas and your goals are heavily affected by those 72 seasons. this is what I get from their songs and I think metallica's lyrics and concepts are always creative and fresh. this song was very good, I loved it but I still expect more. darkness was boring af to me

I used to be such a big Metallica fan but over the past year I kind of hate them now

This song should've been trimmed down to 5 minutes.. So boring and bloated for the most part, and lyrically it's not very good.. Riffs are semi-decent but not worth 2 min + wait for the first verse.. I'm actually pretty discouraged from this upcoming album..

I hear a ton of Rob in these songs. His bass work comes through very clear for me.

Love your reaction but I especially love your hair!

I love this album
If you want to hear modern Metallica at the top at their game, listen to "Spit Out the Bone" from their last album Hardwired...
Or cyanide or hate train too XD

72 seasons = the first 18 years of life.
4 seasons × 18 years = 72
That fast repeating note that's the same, and playing throughout the song, is Rob.
The album is awesome.
It represents the first 18 years of your life and how those years can can define you.
Wow, I like that message. It rings true for a lot of us
Feeding on the wrath of man!!!

I agree - it's the best one for now, yet the decision between this one and 'if darkness had a son' is not easy
I didn't like the verses in this but the riffs chorus and solos were killer, This was awesome live last week
🤘🤘
[Verse 1]
Feeding on the wrath of man
Shot down, traumatic
Time haunted by the past
Long gone, dogmatic
Although the die is cast
Shot down, volcanic
But what is gone is gone and done
Look back, psychotic
No chance before this life began
[Pre-Chorus]
Staring into black light
Dominating birthright
[Chorus]
Wrath of man
Leaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inheritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
[Verse 2]
Feeding on the wrath of man
Shoot back, erratic
Mad seasons take their toll
New mask, chaotic
Completely lost control
Shoot back, fanatic
Wither under looming shadow cast
Slip back, narcotic
Blinded by the ashes of the past
[Pre-Chorus]
Staring into black light
Choking on the stage fright
[Chorus]
Wrath of man
Leaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inheritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
[Bridge]
Piercing through, cut in two
Polarize
Point of view crash into
Paralyze
[Verse 3]
Feeding on the wrath of man
Man down, barbaric
Quick fire machine gun thoughts
Deep seed, stigmatic
Some have and some have not
Man down, demonic
No mercy from the ghost within
Turn back, hypnotic
There's breathing out, but not back in
[Pre-Chorus]
Staring into black light
Permanently midnight
[Chorus]
Wrath of man
Leaching through, split in two
Wrath of man
Crash into point of view
Wrath of man
Violence, inheritance
Wrath of man
Thrive upon, feeding on
Seventy-two seasons gone
[Outro]
Feeding on the wrath of man
Bless you for this!!!
