My mother AND her twin brother will turn 95 this February 23rd. There is a lot of valuable information in our older generations. One of the things we did with my Grandparents was to sit down and record an interview with them. Asking them questions about their childhood, the things they did as children, their trip to America from Europe. First reactions of the US, how they earned an income, etc. I recommend this if Grandma is up to it. You'll cherish it forever. Happy Birthday Eii!

When Melissa was speaking, at the end, about Eli always searching for her hand, holding it when he was small, I was taken back some 70 years, to see a snapshot of me and my beautiful Mummy - I'm in England, that's how we spell the most beautiful name in the world - walking every place we went, she and I holding hands ALWAYS. I was always SO SO proud/happy to be with this beautiful lady or with my handsome Dad. I knew I'd won the first prize with them. I went to a state school and didn’t think anything about how I looked. (My mum always sent me to school washed, teeth brushed, hair combed, clean clothes and shiny shoes). It was still a time of relative austerity. Great Britain had spent all its war chest, and more besides, fighting the Nazi regime and the Country was broke so kids at school, from state housing, generally, were poorly clothed. And, when asked where I lived, and I answered, the kids would make a joke about my being snobby or rich or living in a posh house. That was probably the start of my being called names and made fun of because of my parents' choice of home. It was lovely. Built alongside a very rural lane, which wasn't even a proper road, when my parents moved into their first home as newlyweds, in 1936, it cost them £366. At the back of the house was a farmer's field, with lots of milking cows. I loved watching them, slowly making their way from one sweet clump of grass to another. They seemed untroubled by anything. That's how I wanted to be, untroubled. Life ain't like that though, is it? But I still had total trust in my parents because they were my world. And I'm certain that your children still look to you as their world, Melissa and, darn it, I can't remember your handsome husband's name, just now, even though Neveah is 16 and starting her own journey soon in this world. I think of the way you are training your kids in the Ways of the Lord, just as my parents did with me and my older three brothers before me. We decide for ourselves, though, who we want to follow, don't we? I'm glad I chose to trust in God all those years ago. 61 years, if memory serves me right.
Why have I said all this? Well, I hope and pray that your kids, Melissa, will trust in God for themselves, will find a way, The Way, to Him. And I hope, also, that other Mums and Dad's, who do their best to show their families the Ways of God, will be encouraged to continue, when the world may be telling them, "This God thing is all a waste of time. They'll never trust Him for themselves. Drop it and live for today".
Please be encouraged that your prayers, for your children, have amazingly long lives and God honours those prayers, IN HIS TIME.
Do not be dismayed! God's bigger than man and He makes a Way in the Wilderness.

I’m in my mid 50s and thoroughly enjoy the “do it myself” mentality. That said, I’m tired of doing some things nowadays. I wanted to build our house, but my wife and I agreed that it was too much for me to do. I’m flabbergasted with your place. Like you, we homeschooled our children. It is such a blessing to see them prosper and want challenges. Music, math, reading, etc. I see so many similarities with our families. We are just farther down the path. Your grandma is precious, as is Eli and the rest of your children. Happy birthday Eli. Congratulations Souza family, you will have great memories for a lifetime.

Of all the videos and episodes, this may be my favorite. I'm not crying, you're crying. I'm so thankful you guys allow us to follow your journey.🙏
I’m glad I watched this video in my rest break. My oldest son is on the road headed home to Louisiana, not for a visit, but to live here, go to grad school, be near friends and family (what’s left of family, we’ve lost many in the past few years). He left for the Air Force at age 19, worked on the East Coast for a few years after retirement and now at 45, he’s heading home. I thought he was joking with me at first, then I realized at Christmas, he really meant it.
Watching Eli’s 8th birthday and your whole family made me feel that somehow, I did something right. After all these years of 8-hour plane flights to visit in exotic locations and dozens of airport travel stories during holidays, we’ll be able to sit across a table and just talk in person pretty much whenever we want.
Watching the 8-year-old Eli brought me back decades to summer vacations in Pensacola and the aviation museum there. Lots of smiles.
But now I need to finish making sure I’ve made enough room in the extra bedroom and enough spots in the kitchen for all of his cooking gear.
This coming home is a new experience for me, so say some prayers that I don’t inadvertently revert to the mom of a teen and forget he’s a grown man. And give Eli a hug for me. I know that one day he’ll feel the tug of his wonderful family.
Such a wonderful trip for Eli’s birthday. Visiting his great grandmother will one day turn into the highlight of his 8th birthday. She certainly doesn’t look 98, such a beautiful, talented woman.
The looks of awe and wonder on Eli’s face as he looked at the planes was just priceless.

98 year old Grandma says to Eli; "I was 90 years old when you were born, isn't that old?" I think Eli was afraid of hurting her feelings bcuz he quietly said " yeah". And when she laughed you could see he was relieved. I'm glad he had a wonderful time at all the 🦕 dinosaur and space/airplane museums. But his real excitement was getting the trampoline.
The last clip of young Eli singing brought a huge smile and a tiny 😢 tear to my eye remembering way back when my youngest son was that little and the joy he had brought to our family the day he was born. Happy Birthday Eli!
Wow! She looks great for 99. Oh and what a sweet face beyond the years. I LOOOOOVE elderly people. They have so much to pass on. My grandma, Tessie, was 92 when she fell broke 4 ribs and they never healed, and God said, “Come Home with Me!” I miss her so much.
