This is very interesting, I think we're listening to yet another different story with regards to Janaka & Ashtavakra. I am beginning to suspect that we won't ever get a "canonical" story or historically accurate retelling. In the story that Sadhguru has shared there actually isn't any room for the Ashtavakra Gita itself and so it seems to be the less accurate story.
Janaka being a King knows delegation skill. If his presence alone is needed to just douse a palace fire then he has built a organization which cant move on without his presence. Could also be prioritizing Knowledge of Reality above other aspects
