Shannon is a faithful soldier of defending the status quo narrative of deferring to authority. Always. The establishment is always right. Hockey people shall never be questioned. Old boomer conservative insider working to lie to the public every moment. Pretending to be “media”
disappointed Shannon chose to defend Babcock at such great lengths at this point. seemed like he had more of an issue of who the outlet was for the players rather than the substance of the accusations.
With the travel schedule of the Canucks, they already have less time to practice than other teams, without having to scramble all the time to find some available ice.
I like John, I enjoy him on Bob McCowan's podcast. But I think he has the mentality of the media which resents that their gatekeeping role (i.e. we decide what stories the public gets to know) is diminishing now that the players (particularly through ex-players like Spittin' Chiclets) get to break news and tell their side of the story without going through the official channels. Cathal Kelly had a great article in the Globe today that asserts that the denial by the players in a way confirms what Biz said lol
Totally liked what John Shannon said but boy this sure seemed like a manufactured "controversy" created by media guys who didn't like Babcock. My respect for "journalists" continues to dive into the abyss. Especially the Toronto media. I'm not really going to blame the Spittin' Chiclets guys too much. They may have "broke" the story, but after the explanations by the Columbus people were given it should have been dropped. It was media guys in Toronto that wouldn't let it go. It really looked like they were headhunting Babcock and trying to make it worse. I thought it was very unprofessional and they shouldn't be trying to destroy a teams head coach before the season begins. You know who the usual suspects ( *cough * Elliot Friedman) are Now who cares if these guys hate Babcock the problem i see is that this could affect Columbus' Season. Nobody needs a stupid baseless controversy right out of the gates.
This segment has not aged well guys! More stuff came out about Babcock's antics and he "resigned". You guys seem to be taking Babcock's side in this. I guess it truly is an Old Boy's Club!!
Hahah this has aged like milk. Poor John, blind defense of an abuser. Was this a learning lesson for John lol oh he said bad words. Who had the goods here? Biss did. Will John being issuing an apology, he basically assassinated Paul's character
John Shannon and Mike Babcock suck. Good job Biznasty. Poor Johnny, he takes a beating from Sutter and ends up with the other nutcase in the league. Can you imagine asking a young player to critique his teammates work ethics and make a report in the dressing room. Babcock is the worst coach in the history of hockey.
I am so tired of this practice facility garbage. They are athletes getting paid millions of dollars a year, they must be pampered to? The poor things have to go to different facilities to practice!?!? Oh no! They can't just leave their gear there for the training staff to deal with? Oh no wait, they do just leave their gear there for the training staff to deal with. They don't do a f'ing thing except practice, work out, then go home. They don't lift anything. They don't clean anything. What a joke that this is a talking point. Clearly there has been nothing going on in hockey for the last month. If Frankie Aquilini wants to buy a place, and build a practice facility, more power to him. But there better not be a f***ing nickel of public money go into it.
@@777poco LOL! I don't care what city it is, I don't want to hear millionaire hockey players crying because they have to drive to different facilities to practice. They don't have to handle their gear, all they do is show up and practice. Honestly, how the hell can anyone white knight for poor millionaire hockey players? They can all cry me a river. So can the sports media in Vancouver who are whining about this.
This deference to Babcock is ridiculous. Bissonette is right on point.

Agreed!!
This aged well.
6:43 Really? Cause Gaudreau is good friends with the Chiclets crew. I think they did talk, Johnny just didn’t think Biz would broadcast it

Wonder what Shannon has to say about Biz now? lol
Reports always use “per source” when they have rumours but now Paul can’t ? Lolll
10/10 John on all points.

i know our fanbase is bottom 5 but you're bringing it down lower all on your own.@@dogsbreakfast4952
John Shannon is an old boys club weasel. Even arena personnel at Joe Louis hated Babs guts, because how of a lousy scumbag he was.
Team biz
I have never liked listening to Shannon; he was always weak in his positions, and this underlines it

So John Shannon poo-pooed the Babcock issue, and he resigned. Alrighty then.

this idiot is why no one can ever make progress in the world. John Shannon is a legend and he's right about everything.
Hockey not the same anymore since after 1990s missed my real mens Hockey rules are better Babcock will get fired again
nah
“Real men’s hockey” 😂
Dude, the players of today could still kick your ass….
@@scottelement There are too many woke players in the NHL. We need more real men like Provorov, Kuzmenko and Reimer.

Once Calgary gets its new rink and practice facility the Canucks will be the only team with out one, so sour grapes to you
Babcock will get fired again after October
