- WGM Keti Tsatsalashvili is a well-known personality in the chess world. She is WGM, a well-known commentator and a chess influencer. But how did this all pan out? Why did a talented young girl, who won so many medals for country and become WGM at 16 years, quit chess at just 18? How was Keti's experience when she was the moderator of the Ding Nepo match? And how does it now feel to live in Poland. All of this and more in this interview that has the life story of Keti Tsatsalashvili. This interview was done in London at the Global Chess League 2024.

Really? Despite lacking the presence of mind where she was announcing Hikaru's name when the camera man with that big *peachy camera was panning over MVL's face, or announcing the American Gambits as American Knights, using the fillers like "oh he is the best the very best" when she had nothing better to add, or her incapability to frame questions properly on the spot - the way she asked Kosteniuk about "BOOM BOOM" in front of the dignitaries. Kudos to Kosteniuk she saved that interview by diverting it to a meaningful end.
As far as the person is concerned, she seemed like somewhat of a pompous character, throughout this interview.
@@Stargate-y2s I completely understand your frustration. It was incredibly upsetting for me to realize that I was given the wrong team order. You might be surprised to know that I hadn’t even seen the players; I was reading the names while the camera followed my voice.
Regarding Kosteniuk's interview: as we followed with the camera after the last game, we captured her reactions, which was exactly what I wanted to share with the fans. But you’re right; I could have simply asked her what her hobby is-that would have saved the day! :)
Anyway, I hope you enjoyed the rest of the event. GCL is a wonderful experience to work on.

Let me highlight some of the phrases from the above comment that might have needed a tad bit more attention (*presence of mind* and *incapability to frame questions on the spot*) before you pat your back on going after explaining to that one reply to a reply, when all the comments were surprisingly hurling praises.
The question needed to be framed properly without any "sound effects", no one asked you to ask Kosteniuk about her hobby, were such baloney assumptions also the cause of fumbling the name of American Gambits to American Knights or was it also the script?

Can't believe that for so long I thought that her name was just Keti, didn't realize it was short for Ketevan!

She should check out the script of the south like Malalayam and Kanada, which seems oddly similar to Georgian.
She planned to do a masters having abandoned Chess, then gets an invitation as a commentator, gives up her degree and changes career. As she said she likes to plan but then make sudden decisions.
Maybe like planning a slow positional game then suddenly spotting you can go for a Kingside attack.

Seems like it was all or nothing for Keti. Its a shame that there is not enough money in chess for professionals but at the same time I couldn't imagine giving up on my talent for the game as a financial protest (if I was a titled player). Even as an amateur I plan on playing otb as long as I can physically do it.
