Grover Cleveland's brother, William, was my great great grandfather. My grandfather met Grover once when he was a toddler, but he didn't remember the visit. However, Cleveland's wife, Frances, who my grandfather referred to as "Great Aunt Frank", stayed in contact until the end of her life. As a Hawaii college student in the early 1990's, I was given the assignment to choose any presidential speech and deliver it in class. Most the students selected either a favorite or a recent inaugural address. However, there was one outstanding individual who delivered a speech that stood apart and ahead from all the others. His speech was that of President Grover Cleveland. What made his presentation so memorable was that it was a passionate plea by President Cleveland to NOT ANNEX the Hawaiian Islands into the United States of America. The speech was filled with numerous reasons why annexation would become problematic for both the local natives and the U.S. After hearing this well delivered speech, I was more than impressed with Grover Cleveland's remarkably clear vision of the unforeseen problems that first annexation and then American statehood would surreptitiously bestow upon Hawaii's native shores.
One of my favourite quotes on Cleveland started when Blaine supporters started mocking Cleveland having an illegitimate child by chanting, "Ma, ma, where's my pa?" After Cleveland won, his supporters started chanting back, "Gone to the White House, ha, ha, ha!" Stone cold.

Ataman Matvey Platov & the long serving Finnish NKVD agent Toivo Vaha would be great contenders for a future Biographics episode !
2 term.presidents are like no hitters but 2 non consecutive is like a perfect game.
Grover Cleveland spanked Grampa Simpson on two non consecutive occasions
6:49 Grover Clever literally said "walking is for poor people" 🤣🤣
Informative video.
Make it happen again 2024
there used to be a building at Syracuse University named "Grover Cleveland" I think it was used as a dormitory, I can't seem to find what the connection was, but Cleveland did grow up in nearby Fayetteville, NY....
History could repeat itself in 2024. Donald Trump could go down in history as the 45th and 47th President of the United States.
Could you do a video on Simo Häyhä, the whote death. It would be really interesting as my great grandfather fought in tbe winter war with him and even carried the finnish flag in his funeral since they became friends after the war
Let's keep it that way.
We good homie
"Lie to the liar for lies are his coin. Steal from the thief, for that is easy. Lay a trap for the trickster, and catch him in the first attempt, but beware of an honest man."
Grover Cleveland was one, it seems.
In Junior Year of High School when I took APUSH, the hardest test was the President's test. We had to from pure memory all 44 presidents at the time was President Barrack Obama's second term recite the President from Washington to Obama, recite the running mate, and recite the party. Written, 20 minutes. Me and my Best Friend Max both got 100%. Nobody with that teacher, Ms. DeChristopher was her name, had gotten a 100% on the test. Grover Cleveland or James K. Polk are my favorite presidents to learn about, however my favorite President is George Washington.
