I can't remember how many nights they did at Hammersmith but I was there for one of them. I Don't remember a 2nd guitarist on stage, there was a rumour of someone playing backstage. No matter, Schenker is a God.
He always has such an original sound, so good technically but he also plays with so much emotion. He really brings the songs to life. Awesome with UFO and MSG!!! I too could listen to him all day! Two of the best concerts I've been to: MSG at the Kabuki theater in San Francisco (Built To Destroy tour) and UFO at The Edge in Palo Alto for the UFO Reunion tour (Which was like seeing "Strangers in the Night" live in a smaller venue)...AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
Man is that great!!! Thank you so much for posting! I think Michael stands in one line with Hendrix, Eddie, Blackmore, Malmsteen etc.! His lyrical, ultra-melodical style is outstanding. I couldt listen to him all day, all my life. It's magic! He is Magic!
Don't remember MSG doing this song on the 83 tour. I saw them in Belfast and Michael played with no emotion whatsoever. He just stood rooted to one spot all night and never took his eyes off the floor.
For some reason Ted McKenna always played this song with a real sloppy extra bass drum note added to the beat when he played it live. (Even on the "Rock will never die" - Live album!) I have NO IDEA why. He couldn't pull it off in time with the rest of the beat but he still insists on doing it (or should I say TRYING to do it) throughout the song. He plays great on the original studio version just a year before this, ("Assault Attack" 1982. Simple 8ths. ) so why he would change his OWN original beat into a new pattern that he, himself, can not really execute is just beyond weird. Talk about self sabotage...
Cozy came up with most of the original drum beats before he quit. McKenna then replicated them on the record. Maybe he wanted to put his own stamp on the song when playing live?

Gary is such a great frontman and I love the way he owns the song.
And Schenker is still making good music
probably best song of MSG

only in the past 3 or 4 years he said in interviews that he is finally comfortable being on stage, he's better than ever on concerts now
he cancelled this tour in the states.....i still have my tickets. i think they were on the verge of self destruction when you saw them.

Gary Barden reminds me of Russell Brand here. :)
Fuckin Schenker
Is there a video of this song with Bonnet, I mean does it exist? I can't find it anywhere...
You can see Bonnet singing this song with Alcatrazz (Yngwie Malmsteen on guitar!).
Steve Harris on vocals
